I really love Sarah Ellis' writing, and I loved all the concepts of this, but it felt like it was just a short insight right in the middle of Polly's life - you don't get to know any of her history until the end of the book, and there are a lot of loose ends left. But I love the characters, and I loved the "A tree grows in brooklyn" feel :)

(I don't normally write reviews, but felt that this book needed to have at least one!!)

This is well written and realistic book. somewhat critical even. I like her writing. I like the descriptions and details. I like that it explores how society works and poor people struggle. And she developed characters well and consistently. This book seems to "try" to show what people (including children) in society each care about.

Yet this book wasn't as satisfying as other books she had written. I read 2 other books she wrote and this was the first time I felt nothing from the beginning ti
Many of the same themes as her newest book, but without such great characters and subtlety.
