There's a good chance that Stanzas is probably my favorite of Agamben's many wonderful books, if only because it's really the element of wonder that shines through here in his writing. Here you'll find something like a 'pre-theological' Agamben, an Agamben still ruminating on love and poetry, fascinated by the role of the 'phantasmic' in medieval medical treteases, and exploring the weird and fantastical world of enchanted objects during second Industrial Revolution. An early, and not particularly clear book. Agamben hadn't quite found his own voice yet, I think. Still, an interesting concept, reading Provençal love poetry through medieval medical theory, Heidegger, and Lacan.
