I read lots of book about the far North, Quetico Boundary Park, Alaska and wilderness memoirs, but this is one of the ones that's stayed in my mind long after finishing it.

Mr. Patterson wrote this book as a tribute to his Swedish family, his boyhood memories of the Depression, and most of all as a love story about the lake in Northern Minnesota where generations of his family have always lived. The book is so well written that I swear I could smell the pines and hear the trout jumping as I read
