Finding a set of wolves living in the heart of the city was the last thing that Isaiah expected, but to find them all confrontational and not actually welcoming is another matter in itself. With his antenna in mate mode Isaiah had tunnel vision when it come to Meredith the Alpha of the pack and a mother bear to each and everyone of her charges.

Meredith has been at this business of running and hiding for a long time and she more than anyone else knows the consequence of hunters finding them. Nature and Isaiah Striker put pay to that long held determination to keep her head down and her family safe.

She puts up a brave front but Isaiah is his own man and he doesn’t walk away from his own especially when the stakes are so high.

ISAIAH’S HAVEN is without a doubt a much better book than my first outing with the Striker brothers. Where the first book gave me the history of the pack and the eventual highs and lows of gelling the pack together, this book is all Isaiah's story. Isaiah needs to find his place in the world, he has clear priorities but within the pack hierarchy some things naturally takes second place and he was/is not willing to make that choice.

When he comes upon Meredith and her pack the attraction for Meredith did hit him hard, but I loved that he saw beyond that and wanted to help in whatever way he could despite the fact that it is his presence that sets in motion quite a bit of the ensuing event.

Ms Walter’s did not leave out the sibling dynamic in this book and it was fun to hear Isaiah and his brother converse. More info is also given on the hunters as well and some internal strive is nicely building up within that bed of wasp. There are one or two characters that just by their mere presence they make me want to know their story and where they are going.

ISAIAH’S HAVEN is a kick ass book and I am hoping for even better things from the next book in the Legacy series.(less)

I loved this book, and couldn't put it down! If I didn't have to go to work, I would have read it in one sitting lol! The story continues from book one with Joshua Striker's brother, Iisiah, going to Chicago as a favour to Josh and his newly mated wife, Alex to collect stuff from her old home. He makes contact with Alex's friend, Divine, who is living there now and they decide on a plan, but as Isiah has a bad feeling the place is being watched he decides to lay low for a few days. On an evening stroll he passes a club, named Haven, and hears a beautiful voice singing that draws him inside. It's from this point he becomes instantly attracted to the club owner, Meredith, and he becomes a regular visitor trying to woo her! The story grows from there as he tries to get closer to Meredith, whilst dealing with her highly protective children who all want him to stay away!

It is a very well written book, with an awesome storyline, loads of kick arse fight scenes and excitement and intrigue, but yet it has an underlying sensitivity of relationships and a strong sense of family values and loyalties that you can relate to, ( whether you are a werewolf or not lol )!. There is a lovely building of the relationship between Isiah and Meredith, and that of course leads to lots of steamy, hot sex lol! Isiah is a gentleman, just like his brother, full of honour and strength of character, and yet with that soft, gentle side that is so touching, and of course he is totally sex on legs lol!

I thought the setting of the club and some of the scenes written there, (especially the fight scene with a vampire appearance), reminded me a lot of a couple of the books in the Dark Hunter series by Sherilyn Kenyon,( if you have read that series you will know what I mean ), however there was enough content, plot and a completely different writing style to make this series unique and thrilling. I also love the way the author has introduced different strands throughout the series to wet your appetite for future books, for example in this book we were introduced to Quinn who clearly hides a secret past and is up to something, but we have to carry on with the next book when I'm hoping we will find out what he is doing - it makes for a suspenseful ending! Everything flowed so beautifully though, that such introductions fitted perfectly within the natural progress of the storyline. I loved how characters from the first book were included at appropriate points and can't wait to read the next instalment to see what happens next. Definitely a must read for all paranormal romance fans, it will suck you into this great world that N J Walters has created.(less)

Maybe I shouldn't read a series back to back, but Isaiah didn't capture me like Alex and Joshua did. Not to say it isn't a great story. It's doesn't repeat the same plot line as the first book other than hiding/fighting/killing hunters and pure blood werewolves who attach them. This was a good book.....of course simular story lines for all of the Legacy series.

Isaiah is one of the Striker brothers & a very powerful werewolf. He is on a mission for his brother Joshua (who you met in book #1) which takes him to Chicago. Isaiah feels like a loner even though he has a big supportive family. He just does not seem to fit in after his sister was taken on his watch. He has been different ever since that day 35 years ago.

As much as I'd hoped to read a continuation of Joshua and Alexandra's relationship, Isaiah Striker's story was a great one. Well done, N.J. Walters! You've really raised the bar in the second book of the series.

Well done, N.J. Walters! You've really raised the bar in the second book of the series.

I really liked the gritty urban dystopian setting of Chicago. The story was nicely paced, with a good balance of heart-pounding action and fight scenes, nail-biting suspense, and steamy love scenes. The complications arising between Isaiah and Meredith were excellent: organic, logical, and moving. My only complaint about the explicit sex is the author's liberal overuse of the words "sheath" and "channel," especially often partnered with "snug" - I mean, if it was a drinking game, you'd black out. Seriously. I'm not much for pretty euphemisms to begin with, and this really started to detract from what was otherwise a very well-written narrative.

The best part of this book was the relationship building between Isaiah Striker and Meredith Cross. Both characters are mature adults comfortable in their own skin with realistic expectations of love and each other - what a breath of fresh air! Neither was perfect, but neither was so damaged I couldn't relate to or forgive their faults. The characterizations were superb, including the secondary characters. I'd want to join Haven pack!

I loved how Isaiah was drawn to Meredith, how he recognized her strength and independence right away, how those traits enhanced his attraction to her. I adored how he respected her and the life and pack she'd built right from the beginning. In my opinion, this in no way diminished his alpha-sexiness, only enhanced it. How refreshing that Meredith didn't have to in any way "prove" her worth with some silly stunt.

And I loved how Meredith was alpha of her own little orphan, rag-tag pack, mothering these lost souls but not in a saintly way, kicking the ass of anyone who threatened her loved ones. Finally, a smart, strong, sexy gal holding her own! She was ready to sacrifice her own happiness for their safety, but this was conveyed in a realistic, sympathetic way rather than a tedious martyrdom. I really connected to her strength and independence in this brutally male werewolf world Walters has created.

Walters' Hunters - the racist humans who kill werewolves - are potentially worthy villains but so far have been portrayed in a one-sided, cliched manner, which is a shame. Racism and conspiracy-theorist-fanaticism are intriguing themes that could've been developed more to wonderful effect, but these Hunters are universally ignorant, soullessly evil, barely human creeps.(less)

Another great book from N.J. Walters. I loved this book. I think I have found another author to add to my group that I faithfully stalk. :p I was curious how Isaiah was going to be in this book. He seemed like he was distant in Alexandra's Legacy. I love the shy or wounded men in romance novels. I find them most intriguing and Isaiah is no exception.

I truly enjoyed the book, but I take offense to redundancy. If I am reading a series, I truly don't want the same lines to find there way into the next book, at exactly the same time it appeared in the previous. I liked the character development, but I had a problem with the fact that the descriptions of the characters were once again redundant. Saying the same thing then adding an additional word does not a good descriptive sentence make. Sorry. Could be an enjoyable series if the next book doe...more

His loyalty is to his family and he would do anything for his brothers and his new sister - including a quick trip to the city. While walking down one of the city streets, he hears singing, a voice which stirs emotions and feelings he's never felt before. As much as he wants to avoid it, he follows the voice into a local bar called Haven.

Merideth Cross is a female werewolf who has been avoiding her kind for years. Unlike other werewolves who hate the smell, noise and the crowded cities, Meredith chooses to live in Chicago where chances of being "discovered" by other werewolves is kept to a minimum. She is Alpha of her pack which consists of her 2 adult sons and 4 half-breeds, whom she has adopted as her own. She is determined to keep them safe from the bounty hunters and other werewolves who kills half-breeds. For years she was on the run, finally settling in Chicago, running her bar/restaurant business.

The night Isaiah Striker walked into Haven changed everything she has worked for through the years. She was mated once before at a very young age, the first time she came into heat. Her mating was not of mutual consent, but of biological circumstances. She remained with her mate until he died and instead of being forced to mate with another as her pack would have wanted for her, she ran away with her children. As fate would have it, her true and chosen mate had finally walked into her life. Isaiah oblivious to what he was feeling in the beginning only knew of one thing - he wanted Meredith Cross.

This story started much slower than the first book and didn't pick-up speed until half-way through. There were back story explanations and character POV which helped set-up the scenes. The meeting of the lead characters were well paced in terms of "instant mating" in typical paranormal stories. The attraction between Isaiah and Meredith was fast and neither was prepared for it. She was determined to sacrifice her own wants and needs to protect her pack, even if it costs losing her mate. Isaiah was determined to sacrifice his own beliefs and to keep his family first in order to have the woman destined to be his mate. What I found enjoyable to read was the couple were not "young" and in love for the first time - they were mature and have experienced hardships in life. They are two people who have strong family loyalty and would sacrifice personal needs for the people they love. A noble hero, a strong heroine and hot steamy sex.(less)

i love Isaiah and is overwellming character. he totally taken over by meredith and the pack she is alpha off, i love the different characters in the pack and the family feeling you get when you read about them, it totally different from the first pack that has its main pack alpha family then other pack memeber. cant wait to read more about each one... again great fight and action scences in the book.

I loved the fact that Meredith was an alpha female to match Isaiah's alpha. She didn't willing roll over and submissive allow any of the men around her, her sons included to run her or dicate what she would/could not do. It was an even paced read with enough action to keep the reader engaged. Quinn is the wildcard though. He is with the hunters but not. I guess he'll appear in the next book.

Really enjoyed this second book. I wasn't quite sure I would but I loved that Meredith was the alpha of her pack and it was great to see that she remained as alpha throughout and that Isaiah didn't just take over but supported her. The two complemented each other and it was lovely to get a couple of peeks into Alex & Joshua again. I'm looking forward to reading the next installment.

The plot was relatively interesting but it was really ridiculously cheesy at times.

For example:
"Love burst inside her, shimmering around her like a rainbow, painting the world in a beautiful light."
Yeah- this happened while Meredith gagged while giving Isaiah a blow job......

I loved this book as much as the first one in the series. The third one isn't out yet, but I'll be waiting for it. I love the author's style of writing, including her steamy scenes. The books are a joy to read.

Great second book in the series. While Isaiah is certainly a different character than Joshua and it is it's own book, it was nice to already know the story and I was able to jump right in.

Walters just shot up to the top of my awesome-must-read-smut authors with the first two books of her Legacy series. I've read her small-town contemporaries before, but this series, about a werewolf pack battling both human bounty hunters and supremacist werewolves, is amazing. Even if you're overloaded on werewolf-shifter romance, give this a shot - this series is well written and stays with you for days. In a really good way.
