Dodie's Review

As a Politically Incorrect book, you know that this is about something you aren't supposed to like, but do anyway. If you don't like forbidden pleasures, or descriptions of something society says you aren't supposed to like – don't read this book.

Hani is an old school powerful alpha male. He's constrained by his society's beliefs of proper behavior, but his Wife is American and is unaware of Hani's society's rules. Shannon is a modern American woman, and is fiercely independent....more

3.5 stars. I love a good culture clash romance when it's done right, and this one did a good job. It kind of read like a Harlequin serial, but still enjoyable.

I've been foaming at the mouth for a new Jaid Black release and I was a little disappointed in Subjugated. Not to say I didn't enjoy reading this spicy romance but I think I would have liked it more if this book were longer. I didn't feel like I really go to know Shannon and why she married Hani bin Nasser. This is a very short read. And as such, there's only so much space for an author to develop adequate conflict, characterization and emotion. If written right, a book of this length will give the reader a satisfying blend of all three. Subjugated does just that. Sure, I wouldn't have minded if it had been...oh, say...another 100 pages or so :) But it's great having a new Jaid Black book to read, and I'm happy to hear she's writing again!

Jaid, if you're reading this, *please* write the next Vikin...more

Intensely sexy and good story. Just way too short. But I still liked it.
