This is a 145-page, I-sooo-want-to-be-a-submissive! R-O-M-P. If you don't expect anything more, you won't be disappointed.

This story of domination and submission is vastly different than Shayla Black's Wicked Ties. And I'm not just talking about page counts and plotlines.

In The Possession, Jack McKenna wants a woman who is independent except in bed. There, he wants a woman whose world revolves around him. In Wicked Ties, Jack Cole explains the dom/sub relationship as one in which he assumes all

I read this a while ago and have been debating whether to give it 3 stars or 4. The things I like about it, I like a lot - the steamy D/s sexuality, Jaid Black's touches of humor. Both Kris and Jack are well-drawn and likable. I love a surly hero and Jack is wonderfully surly!

The plot is simple but sufficient for an erotic romance: a staid professor wants to experience the submissive side of her personality in an anonymous setting. Of course her nemesis, the very guy she's been verbally battlin

Kris is a professor who wants to do something unconventional. She signs up to be a submissive on a private island. Jack has known Kris for 2 years and he is crazy about her. Once he spots her at the resort he will do anything to get her and keep her. This is a very fun and sexy read.

As a fantasy romance, this was readable in an undemanding way, but oh my, the editing! The tense kept changing and it was difficult to tell if a sentence was the character's thoughts or the authorial voice. I lost count of the numbers or times 'has' was used when it should've been 'had'.

Still, it was cute and kind of hot with some likable people, though the sex when they got to it was way tamer than I expected and the D/s just not there.

Could've done without the writing out of a French accent to

Calling your penis "him"?! Weird.
And there were sections at the end when he was thinking and talking, and then she was thinking and talking, and they said exactly the same thing. That isn't cute- it's lazy writing! Similarly, there were paragraphs at the beginning and the end of the story that were exactly the same. It's a short story- did you not think we wouldn't notice that you couldn't even be bothered to come up with something new to say?!

The heroine is a starched up, prissy college professor with cats. The hero calls her Professor Prickly and she has been starring in his fantasies for two years. He is a self made man with money and position. The professor thinks he has two attitudes, surly and surlier. So why has he been starring in her fantasies for the last two years?

Faced with aging into the stereotypical spinster with too many cats, the heroine decides to sign up as one of the girls provided at a 'fantasy for guys only' priv

I enjoyed it. It was hard to put down. I kept wanting them to get together and was happy when they finally did.

This is about a female professor, Kris, who wants to be a submissive but has never done it before. Jack is a local businessman with a surly personality. They have known each other for two years and frequently argue. Kris decides to go on a cruise where she will be a submissive to a man for 3 days. Jack happens to go on the same cruise since his friend John runs it. The submissiveness is

Kris Torrence is an anthropologist who is craving an adventure. Just once, she would like to loosen the reigns and let herself life a little. So, having come across an ad calling for submissive women to be whisked off to an island paradise to service high bidders, she doesn't think of it as a money making opportunity, but a chance to explore her wildest fantasies.

Jack McKenna is a brooding, uneducated type who likes to work with his hands, and he is everything Kris fantasies about but will neve

This is a truly freaky cover. I don't know if you can see this, but it's done by computer graphics - which explains why she looks completely unrealistic. Aside from it's utter tackiness and dungeon vibe, it's completely misleading. This is actually a pretty tame story, 100% romance through-and-through, with some light exhibitionism, lots of nudity and, yes, a bit of sex. Apart from the basic premise, it's not even especially kinky.

Kris is a anthropologist working at a university. Only in her ea

Recommends it for: Readers of erotic romance who aren't as choosy as I
When first I read it, I had not read much erotic romance and found it exciting.

Now that my tastes have been better developed, I think this story came up short on several counts. Setting...nearly nonexistent. Plot...many fourteen year old horny boys could have done better. Characterizations...shallow.

Were I a professor, would I throw my career away to become a prostitute for five days? Krissy did; not in the heat of the moment but at the beginning of the story. Lame, it shot any chance for me to

The Possession by Jaid Black has been on my Amazon wishlist for over a year.

A number of years ago I read her Trek Mi Q'an series - my first real intro to erotic - and LOVED IT! The Possession didn't disappoint. It was extremely hot & sexy, dealing with sexual fantasy (techinally it's an Ellora's Cave Taboo book) in a way that few other books will.

Note that if you like your sex very vanilla then this isn't the book for you. There's a love/hate relationship, a teacher/bad boy fantasy, some h

So I just typed my whole review and it disappeared (UGH, I'm ticked) so lets hope I remember all that I typed previously!

This book had been on my TBR list for what seemed like forever so I was so excited to read it! Well let's just say the cover is VERY misleading. I was expecting a BDSM story and this is BDSM lite at best - and that is fine just not what I was hoping for. I think that if you know this going into it you wont feel misled or disappointed.

Kris is a professor of anthropology at a l
I can't say I loved this book but as far as the sex went, it was fun and naughty. My biggest issue was that everything wrapped itself up so perfectly. It was too easy for me. On the other hand, it's not like I picked up the book for its deep introspective discourse on the rise and fall of human civilization. I read it for the sex. And I got sex in it. So, you know, yay!

This is one book where you have to shelve your disbelief while reading it. I had a bit of a giggle over Kris being worried that

I thought Possessions was an okay read. Krissy is the main h. She feels that she has a boring life and wants to spice it up so she joins the Island for five days. The Island story line I think could have been more realistic if written correctly but it came across as unreleastic. It's a island were men buy women for five days to be there submissive. The women get paid to be there and they have a few days of actives before the men buy them. There was no Bdsm in the book only some light spanking an ...more

This is a short novella so there are some missing elements like the emotional exploration of D/s. There also isn't much exploration into the complex love/hate relationship between the characters to morph into total love. So that would lead me to believe it's all about the sex. Well, it is...but some of the sex is skimmed over. Like they characters have a finite time to be together, and some of that is just written by as in "after two days...". I felt cheated. I think not only do readers get chea ...more

Horrible cover - but you shouldn't fault the author for them unless she's letting her new boyfriend do the graphics, then it's all her fault.

The story itself was great. Kris is a professor of anthology in San Francisco and Jack is the owner of a construction company that tries to work with the University when excavating. Most of the time it brings him in conflict with Kris. She's also 36 and the owner of 10 cats. She sees an ad for submissives and sees this has maybe a last chance before she di
A very sexy novella. I enjoyed the professor and Jack together. My first for this author, I will read more by her.

Well, that was fun! This story has great fantasy appeal. Jack was delicious in his manly, possessive way. It was fun to see him go through the competitive paces to ensure he was the one to 'win' Kris. And I think most of us can see at least a little bit of ourselves in Kris, an extremely passionate yet lonely person hiding behind her geeky, unassuming exterior, so it was exciting to live vicariously through her special fantasy. The editing could have been better, but the story was better than av ...more

This is my first Jaid Black book and I liked it. I am not sure that I will read more of her stories though. The BDSM wasn't overkill which was nice. Jack didn't have her calling him Master or some other crazy name.

I would have given the book 4 stars if it wasn't for the ending. It was so rushed and cheesy. The beginning and middle were great but I was expecting some more emotion to shine through during their time by themselves... But I feel we got more emotion when they were still hating each ot

“What belonged to Jack McKenna belonged only to Jack McKenna, and the pussy he was feverishly sucking on was definitely his. He went in for the kill then, sucking her clit firmly and vigorously, growling low in his throat as she bucked up beneath him. On a loud groan she burst, her legs violently trembling as her nipples stabbed up and she drenched his mouth with her sweet climax. He lapped it all up, gluttonously sucking at her hole to get every drop of liquid her cunt had made for him...

"MINE," Jack murmured, causing her to seek out his gaze. "This pussy is ALL mine, baby.”
