Überall auf der Welt ist ein unbekannter und tödlicher Virus ausgebrochen, der die Infizierten in torkelnde und sabbernde Zombies verwandelt. The more I think about this book, the more I hate it and think it's nothing more than pretentious straight male pandering. It feels like the authors just got drunk one night and said 'oh you can draw and I can (kinda) write, let's do a zombie manga'. Then the writer spent hours watching every zombie movie ever made and recreate that with high school students and perfect girls with large breasts. I hear you, this is a manga, that's how manga rolls. But why should it? It's 2011, and while I have n...more

This is a non-spoilery blanket review of the first three editions of Highschool of the dead, since I read them so closely together.

The best thing about Highschool of the Dead was the art. It's very well illustrated with a wide range of facial expressions, well designed action scenes and convincing zombies.

From there it was pretty mundane.

The story is pretty much The Walking Dead with teenagers, I didn't find anything unique or exciting about Sato's approach to the zombie apocalypse (at least n...more

I think I've finished Volume 2 (I've completed through chapter 7). I am reading this online.

The titillation continues, but the story is good and the artwork fantastic, and not just the exaggerated female forms.

I'm sure people could find this offensive and sexist in many ways, but there is much that is interesting here.

I'm curious about where this story goes. Sorry that I am writing in little bits but I can't get rid of an annoying Target ad.

If you like B-horror movies in paper form coated with Japanese cliches and stereotypes on top of plenty of nudity and fan service, then you might enjoy this somewhat extreme take on the zombie plague story. Unfortunately, the lettering and the translation can look and read awkwardly, and are marred by the occasional editing error, e.g. unnecessary commas or misspelled words. This all rather distracts from the story and art.

Told in a movie-like style with plenty of action and dark thoughts that slowly reveals the world's steady decline.

Actually, I found out a couple of days ago that this series has been already made into an anime. I think it'd be better to watch it rather than read it since the storytelling is basically already made for anime with its action and dark tones.

So, I think I'll check out the anime if I can find it. :P

The blood and gore continues to rain in the second installment of HOTD. After the gang makes an escape from the bus led by the tyrannical Shidou-sensei, they meet up and take refuge in one of Shizuka-sensei's friends' condo. That comes with a... military grade Hummer? Who exactly is Shizuka-sensei's friend and how long will the gang stay safe at their new sanctuary?

Highschool of the Dead is where you get your zombie action. Fast and furious and intense. Nothing in this manga is for the faint of heart. I recommend this manga for those over the age of 16 for more of the sexual aspects registered within this series.

For those of you that are shonen fans, this manga is definitely for you. The amount of ammunition that these teenagers are packing is seriously something that you should all take a look at...more

Algo más flojo que el primero, pero sigue siendo bueno. He echado en falta algo de profundidad en las tramas, pero la historia aún está siendo planteada. Espero hacerme con los siguientes tomos pronto.

Another great volume! The action is picking up, although I feel that the story is progressing a bit slowly for my tastes. Very interesting character building.

2nd volume of interesting gory, friends killing zombie friends. Art is good, but not sure about the story yet..still.

Well, this is not for kids that's for sure. As with the first volume the group of survivors are trying their best to stay alive during the zombie attacks. They were able to escape the highschool in the first volume and now they are trying to find their families as well as trying to stay safe in the city.

This is intense but the story is good.
