CATHY'S BOOK is being marketed as a new kind of young adult novel. It's interactive, with a pocket of 'evidence', real phone numbers and websites, and other extras to help you learn more about the case. To be honest, though, that wasn't what made me love this book. Sure, the extras are cool and all, but I don't think they are necessary (and that's a compliment to the book, really!). CATHY'S BOOK could have stood on its own as a wonderful young a...more

It's a mystery book that's sort of interactive. The book comes bundled with clues numbers scrawled on a napkin, pages out of a day planner, doodles, business cards... etc. There are also doodles and notes written in the borders of the book itself. All of which can be used to piece together a mystery revolving around a young girl's enegmatic ex-boyfriend.

It's a fairly fun book to read. My favorite part was calling the numbers found in the clues to call a voicemail and break in to get a secr...more

This book is great, not only is the writing exciting and compelling but it is also interactive. You get a wallet full of evidence with phone numbers and other stuff. with the phone numbers you can call them but you can also get hem free on a website www.doubletalkwireless.com/ there is a forum and from there you can grow theories on cathy's whereabouts.
so far I'm not very good at the whole detective thing but I love the idea of ...more

I was expecting some pretty bad writing for this book, but surprisingly, it was good writing! Cathy was pretty believable as a teen girl (from what I remember from being a teen), she seemed normal enough, and the mystery was pretty good and interesting too, for the first part of the book. Then… the ending… well, in my opinion, it was rather lame. It didn’t really fit in with the rest of the book, and I was trying to pretend it didn’t happen. The first half of the book was really good tho...more

My teens have been bothering me to read this book forver and I finally brought it home for the weekend. It's much shorter than it seems and much more intriguing. It's written in a diary format, which often seems gimmicky but this diary is full of action and dialogue. Cathy has an incredibly snarky voice that would be obnoxious in a best friend but is absolutely hilarious and perfect in the book. Plus, it's a realistic ficiton type book that turns out not to be entirely realistic. I won't sa...more

This is one of my favorite books. It is about a girl named Cathy who goes on a hunt to find out more about her ex-boyfriend after she finds a mysterious mark on her arm. What really caught my eye in this book is all the clues you can search and all the artwork. It really makes it seem like a real girl's journal, with all the doodles and personal feelings. I suggest reading this book if you like a bit of mystery. Or maybe you just want to check out all the doodles and read for fun. Either way, it...more

I wanted to read this because I featured it in a book talk that was about teen books that were written in diary/journal format. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be...the description of the book didn't give any information about what the plot was actually about. So I guess I kind of felt tricked or mislead...and then the ending was completely random. I did like the format, though, especially because it included "real" letters, photographs, and other mementos to go along with the

I loved this book! I like the look of it (doodles, handwritten notes in the margins, etc) as well as all the neat ephemera tucked inside the cover. I like the idea of an interactive book and the authors did a great job pulling it off! I didn't expect Victor's secret to be what it was and some of the details were a bit confusing. The book ends with some unanswered questions, leaving me wanting more. Fortunately there's a sequel: Cathy's Key.

I know.. weird.. this book is fantasy?? Well, it is. One would not think so at first but once you get into the story you realize that indeed, it is. Anyways, it's good, a bit of language, but it's funny and witty. And it's just so cool how there are all the papers and stuff in the envelope on the inside cover! And the phone numbers and websites work!! The fact that the number on the cover worked is what actually made me want the book!!

I picked this up at the Mass Library Association 2007 Conference, after hearing the author speak about it. It's an interesting story, and I think if you actually did what you were supposed to -- call the phone numbers in the book, visit the websites & explore them, really examine the ephemera included -- it'd be super fun. But I just wasn't motivated to do that alone.

If anyone wants to borrow this let me know, it's kind of neat.

ok, the storyline was "good" but I just LOVED this little book beacuse of the format. It's written as a teenager's diary and has all of this info relating to things mentioned in the story in a little pouch at the front. So cool. Neat Idea. Great teen book, but I found it fun as a adult too!

I loved this, once I'd gotten past the first bit, where it's all a little awkward. It's the first book I've read in a while that I've actually EATEN UP, so to speak! I couldn't see where it was going, I'm still a bit confused about some parts, AND I'M REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO A SEQUEL. :D

this book's cool. I think the girl in this book,Cathy, has a personality just like mine because she's funny, smart, and can have a bit of a temper. She has that attitude that says "I'm nice until you become mean back". Besides what i said, it's a good book. Read it. now. Or...else. hahaha

Fun read. Good mystery about a girl finding the true identity of her ex-boyfriend. You get phone numbers to call and in the book they give you clues to find out the phone's pass code. Filled with fun pictures, artifacts, and news paper clippings. Fun for all ages!

I completely forgot I read this while I was on vacation. It wasn't bad, a little predictable at times, but funny and fast paced. I didn't do much with the supplementary materials, being at a beach cottage with not computer/internet at the time. C'est la vie.

Mildly entertaining, could be better. About a girl who is desperate to find out why her boyfriend has dumped her, and how his reputation as a "mad scientist" has to do with the story.
