While reading this book, I couldn't help but notice elements of the Sound of Music and Jane Eyre integrated into the storyline. These similarities compliment the charm of Andrea Boeshaar's book. Add to that the intriguing history of Milwaukee and the ethnic tensions that are deeply rooted in the immigrant populations, and you have a rich and riveting historical romance.

This book compares the glamour and richness of metropolitan living

In the Spring I was blessed to receive my first book written by Andrea Boeshaar, Unwilling Warrior, in the mail to review. That book was the first in the Seasons of Redemption series. I loved it. I was therefore very excited to receive the second in the series recently, to review. I can now confirm to you that Andrea Boeshaar has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I love her style of writing. I love the depth that her characters carry and I love that her books remain faithful to being wh ...more

The year is 1866 and Missouri native, Sarah McCabe, finds herself unexpectedly relocating to Milwaukee, Wisconsin after a misunderstanding.

Having previously arrived in Chicago, Sarah is forced to try and find another job when she discovers that the teaching position she thought she had is already filled. Determined not to return home to the farm life that she detests, Sarah spends every last cent she has on a hotel room, while scouring the local newspapers for employment. Sarah answers an ad fo
There was something about this story that struck a chord with me. Not only was it charming and heart-warming, but it was deep when it came to answering the question... "What is love?" In some ways it reminded me of the family in "The Sound of Music," but the story went so much deeper than that. I loved the spiritual themes in the book and how it shows that we need to ask God to align our will for our lives with His will. It was a subtle point, but an important theme in the book.

I also loved how

I liked Book One in this series, Unwilling Warrior and I'm happy to say I enjoyed this one as well. If you're looking for a sweet and simple romances set around the time of the Civil War this is a series to look for. I love romances like this that start out quickly, without the dilly-dallying so to speak for the first half of the book. With this book the chemistry between Sarah McCabe and Richard Navis was immediate and I knew from the first chapter how things between them would end. There were ...more

"Uncertain Heart" by Andrea Boeshaar is the sequel to "Unwilling Warrior," of Boeshaar's Seasons of Redemption series. Sarah McCabe of Jericho Junction, Missouri is finally grown. She longed to stretch her wings in the world, and particularly leave behind the country life she'd always known. However, life on her own doesn't go as she planned and she finds that independance comes at a high price.

"Uncertain Heart" is a wonderful work of Christian fiction. The characters are realistic. In some Chri

I started the series with this book but feel that I have not missed a lot, sometimes stories are great alone and this one was. By the end of the book though, I was happy to delve into book #3 to learn more of the story.

Boeshaar’s second outing in the Seasons of Redemption series manages to outdo the initial outing by a long shot. Though I enjoyed reading the first story of Valerie Fontaine and her adventures with the McCabe family, I absolutely fell in love with this book. Full of adventure, romance and the very real question of how one knows who they really love, this book was a delightful journey. In fact, I’ve already purchased a couple of copies of the book for friends of mine as gifts. I loved the voice t ...more

A simply charming book. In her quest for freedom and independence from her family, Sarah McCabe accepts a position as governess for a wealthy widower. Captain Sinclair is a domineering man used to getting his own way. Richard Navis is Captain Sinclair's assistant; a man indentured, but anxious to finish his term and return to farming. Sarah finds herself drawn to both men, and she certainly enjoys the wealth and privilege that comes from working for the captain.

Sarah's character is delightful.

'Uncertain Heart' was my first book to win on FIRST reads! I was so excited and had high hopes for this book. My hopes were fulfilled. I really enjoyed this sweet book from start to finish. It was a good pick-me-up and kept me smiling. I really liked the characters and could really relate to them.

Sarah McCabe was a character that reminded me of myself in some ways. And I loved Richard Navis, whatta guy!! He kept me laughing! Captain Sinclare was quite the charming fellow. But he didn't fool me!

I've actually never read an Andrea Boeshaar book, so I've never had the pleasure of reading the first book in this series. However, after having won this book via goodreads, I can say that I will be reading the first book as soon as possible. It's often times hard for me to like a book so much, because I have to feel the authors passion, agree with the way she/he writes her stories, and I'm overall picky when it comes to story lines. It surprised me how much I loved this book. Not only is the st ...more

I am really enjoying this series ... First Reads sent me Book 2, so naturally I had to go buy Book 1 and I loved them both. These books have lots of historical details and are very entertaining. It takes place in 1866 and is about a girl who is trying to find herself and gain independence. She takes a governess position and meets two men who are different in everything ... but most of all religion. She encounters many problems, but eventually God leads her in the right direction. After winning this book from First Reads on Goodreads, I knew I couldn't wait to read it! I was right it was a great book, if you are into Christian fiction with a little romance this is for you! Accepting a job as governess in Milwaukee, (knew I would like this story after reading this...)Sarah starts her new adventure with disappointment.
I didn't get a chance to read this first book in this series but had no trouble reading this one.

This was my book that was in the car.

I don't like the way this book ended, kind of like the author got in a hurry and just wrapped it up in a couple of paragraphs. Like the story could only be so many pages long. I want to know did they ever find the children's father? What happened to the children? Instead I just got a wedding!

I received this book from a giveaway and I didn't know much about it just that it was a romance. I've read this book three times now and I absolutely love this book! The characters are very likable and Richard is the perfect "hero" in the book. I am definitely reading the other books for this series.

This is a nice historical romance. I didn't read the first in the series but I didn't even know there was one so that should tell, it is a stand alone book.
It reminded me of other good books like Little House on the Prairie and Anne of Green Gables. It was a very nice read.

Great! This story picks up where Unwilling Warrior left off; you're left hanging, until you read this one. This is TRULY a "Who shot J.R.?" type of plot; you've GOT to know: What happened to Capt. Sinclair? Did he die? You won't know until you read "Unexpected Love".
