Dunstan Thompson was born in New London, Connecticut, in 1918. He was educated in England and France, and later at the Canterbury School and Harvard. During one summer abroad, while at Rye, he was a student of Conrad Aiken. At this time, his poetry and criticism did much to enliven The Harvard Monthly, which he edited with distinction.
