The first four books in this series blew me away! This one -- not so much. While I still enjoyed the wild ride the author took me on, I think I just had a hard time because of the main characters.

Kougar and Ariana were mated in the past. They thought being from different races wouldn't hurt their love for each other, but fate had other ideas. After an attack on the Iliana race that Ariana is the Queen for, they are forced to go into hiding and break communication with Kougar.

Kougar thinks that his mate died long ago, but she didn't. Years later when he discovers the truth, he promises to keep their secret and walks away from Ariana. In the years that followed, hate and contempt has formed in Kougars cold heart and Ariana has tried to control the secrets and pain while protecting her race. When other warriors are trapped in the spirit trap, Kougar goes on the hunt for Ariana since she is the only one who has access to it. He has eleven days to convince her to help. Unfortunately, if Ariana does as he asks, she risks the extinction of herself and her entire race for real this time.

Ariana was not a great character for me. I just couldn't connect with her as I did the previous heroines in the other books. I am not sure what made her unlikable to me but I know she wasn't up to par as the previous ones. Kougar had his good moments and you can't mistake his dedication and loyalty to his race, but he wasn't as strong as I thought he would be. He is powerful and sexy, but he is lacking a certain punch for me to believable. I think it is because I felt the relationship was being forced for me. I just couldn't get the two to connect in my mind. There wasn't much chemistry in my minds eye, but there was much begging and pleading from Kougar and many no's from Ariana.

I still enjoyed the book and I am glad to have read it for the simple fact that previous plot lines played out. What I love the most is how the author makes sure we don't forget the previous characters because they are essential to each story for progression. The next book features Hawke who happens to be my favorite Warrior so far. I have been waiting patiently -- okay not so patiently -- for his book and I am glad to be starting it next!(less)

Hunger Untamed is the latest adventure that follows the Feral Warriors – men with animal spirits who guard the unsuspecting human population from an unspeakable evil. Their world is harsh, violet and blood flows freely. The bad guys are a tragedy because they weren’t always this twisted and bent. There’s another force trying to break free into our world and it not only has corrupted people of magic and beauty and consumed their souls, it has destroyed families and lovers. The only thing that stands in its way is the Feral Warriors.

That’s a lot of pressure and stress to place on someone’s shoulders. There’s been four Feral Warriors that have found their happily ever after for now, so far. I say that they have a HEAFN because their lives are always on the line; danger stalks them at every turn, so love and tenderness, sentimentality and passion are treasured gifts that possibly could be taken away at a moment’s notice. That is where this book picks up. In the last book, two of the warriors are caught in a trap set by the corrupted mages – magical people who are tied to the earth. It would be helpful for readers to have read the previous books but by no means mandatory. Ms. Palmer presents enough information for a reader by the emotions and actions of the characters within the story, and through internal and external dialogue so what is at stake and who can be hurt by the current conflict is clear and concise.

In Hunger Untamed, Kougar reunites in a bitter fashion with the absolute love of his life. There’s a ton of angst, anger, hurt and mistrust muddying the waters. Add to the potential loss of his brethren and Kougar’s a man on the edge, willing to do whatever he has to do save his brothers. But will that include forgiving the woman who betrayed him? That’s a tough call and one that seems an impossible task. The author allowed me to get into Kougar’s head a bit where none of the other characters seem to be able to. There are things that are hidden still, but I found out about the depth of his pain through the telling of the story. The fact that he survived what he has, that he didn’t go mentally loony as I know I would have, is a true testament to his courage, loyalty and honor. It describes the man that he is and he fits my description of a tortured hero.

Ariana is a warrior queen who, unbeknownst to Kougar, has had to carry a burden of equal severity for a thousand years. Her loss is a tragedy itself. Her fears are real and she’s haunted, tormented and on the run. She’s a woman of great beauty inside and out with a fierce loyalty and dedication to those in her care. She’s paid the ultimate sacrifice by losing Kougar the first time, but to lose him again will kill her. Talk about drama and emotional connection. This book has it all.

What shines through is the love the hero and heroine truly have for each other. It should have died because of all the lies and deception but true love, the kind that weathers the storms and brings strength out of chaos, never dies – it just gets sidelined for a bit. Their love is battle-born and stronger for it, much to my fascination. As harsh and cruel as things seem to get, I still found hints that gave me hope that had me rooting for their love to conquer all.

Like all good books, heroes and heroines need a little bit of help from their friends. Secondary characters abound. Again, although most are from the previous stories, I don’t believe readers will get lost. If anything, it might intrigue them enough to read the previous adventures in the series. Roar is really cool and I enjoyed his tale. Ms. Palmer is great with tortured heroes and every one of them fits the bill to one degree or another. There’s even a secondary thread that I think might be a curveball. Although it seems resolved, with Wulfe and Natalie, I somehow don’t think so. When you read this book, keep an eye out for that part and how Wulfe reacts; it could be my wishful imagination, but I don’t think so. Then again, the author never seems to do what I expect of her. Half the fun is the surprises she throws at me.

I do have to warn readers about some of the violence. There’s this one part that really grossed me out. It wasn’t gratuitous and it wasn’t arbitrary and it turns out to be the only course of action that would have worked. What I’d like to know is how in the world Ms. Palmer even imagined such a thing in the first place. Didn’t it give her nightmares? Feel me shudder.

A different kind of shuddering goes on when Kougar and Ariana succumb to their passion and explore their physical love. It’s scorching and worthy of a cold shower. Or two. Kougar sure knows how to please a woman and Ms. Palmer sure knows how to write all about it.

Hunger Unleashed will grip a reader’s imagination, heart and emotions. I wanted to rail against the injustice of it all and kick the bad guys into the next worm hole for daring to mess with my favorite guys’ happiness. All the Feral Warriors deserve their happily ever after and Kougar’s story is one that satisfies on many levels. Now, I’m chomping at the bit for who is next because every one of those hot and hunky men has a story to tell and a woman to find. Readers who enjoy the talents of J. R. Ward will find much to enjoy in the Feral Warriors series – the men are just as charismatic and alpha as one could wish, tempered with the ability to love a woman senseless. What more can a reader ask for?

I was really disappointed, however, with Hunger Untamed. In the beginning, I felt Kougar's and Ariana's story really held potential and it was exciting as their history unfolded. But the more I learned about Ariana's betrayal and her feelings about what she had done, the less I liked her.

One of the many things I love about this series is how when going from one book to the next there isn’t any time gap. When we closed Jag and Olivia’s book Kougar was going to hunt an Ilina. He is hoping to find his mate that he has had no contact with for a thousand years. For this being a rekindle story it did not flow in that sense. Hunger Untamed was a mixed read for me. A thousand years ago a spell caused the queen Ariana to sever her bond with her shifter mate Kougar - the then leader or the Feral warriors - emotionally crippling him from grief from her 'death' and leaving him thinking that all her people were extinct as well. Over the course of the story when they come back together, Ariana's reasons for her actions feel like they change and then it's almost like the whole thing was just one great big misunderstanding which is a plot device that I don't care for at all. It didn't help that I also had a hard time warming up to the Ariana, and it bugged me that physical attraction is what made Kougar overcome his animosity towards her. I would have been happier if some bigger action on her part was what helped to make up for the pain of her deception, abandonment and betrayal.

Balancing my issues with Ariana out a bit was that Palmer filled in a fair amont of the backstory for the Feral warriors decline. Since Kougar was there when the clans lost something important, she showed us what that meant to those who retained that power. My favorite part of the story though was a subthread focused on the scarred Wullf, involving his interracions with a human woman, and her blind brother - the humans both now know too much after being victims of the Daemon attack in the last book. I hope this was setup for the next book because I'd really like to see more of Wullf - although I suspect that the spiritually damaged Hawke is likely to be the next feral warrior up to bat. (less)

Another great read as the saga of the Ferals continues. Similar to previous books, this story is about one of the Feral Warrior, Kougar. The story picks-up a few days after 2 of his Feral brothers have been caught in the Spirit Trap and Kougar goes to the only being he knows that could help them - his mate, Ariana, Queen of the Ilina. There's a bit of a problem with the situation - he has not laid eyes on Ariana for a thousand years!

The books have been written where only a few months have passed since the first book came out. They read as if each of the stories are more like long chapters, where each Feral has a story. I really enjoy the world that Ms. Palmer created. There are shifters or Feral Warriors, Mage, Magic, Daemons, etc. at war, and the heroes are the Feral Warrior trying to save both their race and that of the humans. This particular story is about a Feral Warrior, Kougar who a thousand years ago mated with Ariana, Queen of Ilina. He thought she had died and for a thousand years mourned his love. A couple of decades ago, he found she didn't really die. He was determined to hate her and once she helps him free his Feral brothers from the Spirit Trap, he will sever all ties with her. And as famous words go...never say never.

Ariana had no choice, but to make her beloved mate think she was dead. She was infected with poison by one of the Mage a thousand years ago, that would in turn infect all her maiden and eventually kill them all. She had to make Kougar believe she was dead in order to save her people. She sacrificed a thousand years without her mate Kougar in order to keep him and her maidens safe. The "poison" fed off pain and suffering, while her soul fed off pleasure and joy. She lived among humans and became a midwife in the beginning, since birth consist of both pain and eventually pleasure.

The story starts where the two lovers have left off - in pain and at a loss. You get a sense of pain and heartache the two characters had to go through and why it had to be. The reader is made aware of how much they still love each other and that separation for a thousand years couldn't erase what they had with each other. Aside from the romantic notions weaved from the very start, the story contain some action-filled scenes. The characters are both strong and very set in their ways. They've been through so much pain and suffering, yet somehow their love blooms, rather than get diminished, even with the reason behind what transpired years ago. Enjoyable read and still a favorite series - looking forward to Hawk's story next.(less)

แต่กระนั้น เราอ่านเล่มนี้แล้วไม่มีความรู้สึกใด ๆ ทั้งสิ้นต่อทั้งพระเอกและนางเอก ซึ่งอาจจะเป็นเรื่องดีกว่าการที่เราคิดว่า มันเลวร้าย แต่อ่านเล่มนี้ไปแบบ ไม่อยากอ่านเล่มต่อไปในชุดอีกแล้ว รู้สึกว่า ไม่มีอะไรน่าสนใจสักอย่าง ซึ่งแตกต่างจากความรู้สึกตอนอ่านสองเล่มก่อนหน้า Passion Untamed ที่เราไม่ชอบมาก ๆ เลยอยากอ่านต่อ เพราะมันคงไม่แย่ไปกว่านี้อีกแล้ว และ Rapture Untamed ที่เราชอบพอจนอยากให้อ่านเล่มนี้ต่อ แต่จบเล่มนี้แล้ว เราคงดองชุดนี้อีกหลาย ๆ ปีเป็นแน่(less)

They are Kougar's friends. The only way to save them is for Ariana to shift into mist to enter the trap and bring them out. Melisande is Ariana's second in command. To cause mischief she reconnects the mating bond between Ariana and Kougar. Now Kougar knows Ariana is alive. He captures her to force her to free his imprisoned friends. He is mad at her because she let him think she was dead for 1000 years.

REVIEWER'S OPINION:
This book is drivel. I couldn't read the whole thing. But I read enough to know that reading more would not have changed the 1 star rating. Some specific problems follow. There was no developing plot, no developing characters. I never saw the bad guys do things or understood their motives. Shifters are imprisoned. We don't know how or why. Some humans are imprisoned by shifters. We don't know how or why, but we are told the shifters won't let them go until they can erase their memories. Maybe reading previous books in the series would have helped. (I have not read any other books by Pamela Palmer.) Too much is told and not shown. There was no good reason for Ariana to lie to Kougar and fake her death. Because in the end they fought mages together. They should have been doing that 1000 years ago. The main conflicts between the two were based on her lies to him and his anger. It just wasn't interesting. And then Melisande brings them back together 1000 years later "to cause mischief?" Please give me something better.

I had almost forgotten how much I absolutely love this series, and this book was no exception. Despite the length of time between this book and the last book, I found myself once again becoming immersed in the Feral Warrior's world, and could not put it down. All the grief and pain he has carried swells and spills over when he finally is able to confront Ariana. Watching Kougar struggle with his alternating feelings of loss and love, of loneliness and longing was so heartbreaking. He resists Ariana because he has no intention of getting close to her again, but little by little, the resistance breaks down.

Ariana, Queen of the Ilinas, is a strong, capable woman. She bears the scars of a mass slaying of her warriors a thousand years ago. She and the remaining Ilinas have spent the last thousand years trying to break the Mage's curse.

This is by far the most emotional read of all the Feral Warriors series so far. Seeing these two warriors, for Ariana is undoubtedly a warrior in her own right, struggle to balance their love for each other against their responsibility to their people made me wonder how they would ever find an HEA. The love scenes are so touching and convey the sense of hopelessness, of love lost and regained, beautifully.

Rich in detail, Pamela Palmer takes the reader deeper into the world of the Feral Warriors of old as we learn how an entire race of shifters came to hold only the embodiment of each animal singularly. The story is enthralling, tightly written and suspenseful. Jag provides comic relief throughout as only he can! There is a nice side story about Wulfe that makes me curious. Hunger Untamed is a thoroughly enjoyable read that leaves me waiting anxiously for the next Feral Warrior installment.

Hunger Untamed by Pamela Palmer is the fifth novel in the Feral Warriors Series and again a fabulous novel. This is one of the series where the books remain on the same level and hold the readers attention all the way through.

Kougar is one of the oldest Feral Warriors and used to be the chief of the warriors. But when his mate Ariana was lost to him, he put that position down and Lyon took over. Kougar moved on with his life and thought his mate was dead, but about twenty years ago he felt his mating bond come to live again. So when his fellow warriors got lost in that trap, he knew his mate was the right person to find them.

Ariana is the head of the Linas and had to break the mating bond in order to save her race from dying. But she never let Kougar out of her heart, so when he comes and ask for help she struggles with what to do….follow her hear and do the right thing and save those warriors or take her responsibilities and choose her race once again.

What I really love about this series is the brotherhood of the warriors and their mates. No matter what happens of what danger they are in, they won’t stop and do anything in their power to help out.

One by one the nine warriors are finding their destiny and the woman to share that with. Five warriors already found their mates, so only four more to go and I can tell you that I’m looking forward to that. There is a lot more to tell in this journey than we already saw.

I had a serious dislike of Ariana at first. By breaking her bond with Kougar, she not only hurt him physically but emotionally. Then I learned why she did it. A Mage used the strong disapproval of one of the Ilinas for Kougar and Ariana's bonding as a way to hurt them all. With her people dying, Ariana had to make the decision to hide her maidens away and sever the bond between her and Kougar. She loved Kougar and it took everything in her to stay away from him. I felt for her and respected her for the difficult choice she had to make.

Kougar has lived in a state of numbness since the break of his mating bond. When it was remade at the end of the last book, it was as if a fire was lit inside him. He is rightfully angry at Ariana and plans to force her to save his fellow Feral, not caring about the cost to Ariana or the Ilinas. They quickly realize that their people must work together in order to save each other. This causes Ariana to spend more time with Kougar and the love and lust they once had comes back. Kougar begins to understand why Ariana did what she did. He opens up to her more than he did when they were first mated. Kougar is a mystery wrapped in a sexy alpha package and he's hard not to love.

When Kougar talks to Ariana about his early years, we learn more about what happened when the Mages and Therians combined their power to defeat Satanan and his horde. I found it all really interesting because he wasn't retailing it from a story someone shared with him. He was talking about what he saw first hand and it gave a more personal touch to the tale instead of it feeling like I was reading it from an old text.

The Mage who caused all the pain between Ariana and Kougar has not given up his hold on the Ilinas. Through the bond between Ariana and Kougar, the Mage will use all his power to destroy the Feral Warriors, paving the way from the release of Satanan. Pamela Palmer's latest is full of passion, action and heartache. The race to save the lives of Hawke and Tighe is a nail biter. There was a subplot involving the badly scared Wolfe and a human that needed her memories erased. I really hope that means that Wolfe's books is next because the way things were left off really had me wanting to read his story. I say this each time I finish a book but this is my favorite in the Feral Warriors series.

As you'll recall from the last book, Tighe and Hawke have become trapped in a demon spirit trap. The same trap that chewed up and spat out The Seventeen all those centuries ago. From that experience they know they have no more than 11 days to find a way to get Hawke and Tighe out before their animal spirits are ripped from them and their (dead) bodies are released back to the world.

You may also recall that Kougar, at the end of the last book, had a visit from Mellisande- an Ilina mist warrior and his so-called "mate's" second in command- who reconnected his defunct mate bond and made him feel for the first time in a millennia.

The Ilina's are a breed of female immortals, thought to be extinct until 21 years ago. A revelation that has Kougar filled with unbelievable rage and bitterness over the incredible deception from the one who was meant to be his other half. There is a lot more to this story, but after a thousand years of feeling numb and grieving for the mate he believed murdered, will Kougar be in any mood to listen to the explanation?

His mate, Ariana, I actually really liked. I wasn't sure what I would make of these only partly corporeal women as mate potential, but it actually comes in very handy! They can be flesh as much of the time as they wish, but during a fight when someone makes a grab for them they can turn instantly to mist, making them an almost unbeatable foe. They can also travel across huge distances, and even into different realms, in the blink of an eye, and can take along one passenger. This would be a very handy alliance for the Feral warriors in upcoming books as they continue the war against the Mage and Daemons.

The overall plot was very well thought out. There were two distinct problems they had to solve if they were to have any chance of freeing the two Ferals and it was a race against the clock throughout. This created a nice amount of tension and I was furiously turning the pages towards the end. The romance that developed along the way felt quite authentic even after such a long separation and the sex scenes were schmokin' as usual.

I'm really looking forward to the next book, Ecstasy Untamed, which I'm reading next.

Ok once again I LOVED this book!!!!! The characters were sexy, the plot was intriguing, and the sex was possitively delectable! Kougar seemed so different in this one then the others. I'm very happy that it ended well for everyone, well almost everyone. I felt bad for Wulfe since he was starting to like Natalie and she had to go back to her life and fiancé without any memories of him or what happened to her friends and brother. This one would actually be 3 1/2 stars for me I think. Although I did end up liking Ariana, I agree with the one reviewer that the reason this whole thing started in the first place was because of a betrayal...and no one mentions it! The betrayer is still a major character that is still loved, and no one gets angry at them for doing what they did when what they did was kill hundreds of people!! I never quite got over that.

Kougar was the chief of the Ferals until he lost his mate a thousand years ago. Since then he has been unable to feel and his senses are dampened. When he finds out that his mate is actually alive and their bond is reconnected he is angered beyond belief but she is the only one who can save his friends and fellow warriors from the spirit trap so he must face her and he has no qualms over forcing her to comply.
Ariana’s betrayal is not what it seems at first glance but she can never let Kougar know what really happened because the truth could end his life. They soon come to realize though that they must work together to save their people, but can they overcome their past hurts and trust each other again? Regardless, there is still an intense attraction between them that can’t be denied.
We later come to find out that this is an entire plot by the mage Hookeye, to capture all the feral warriors, that started a thousand years ago, and he will try to use to the bond between Kougar and Ariana to destroy them all.

I loved every moment of Hunger Untamed. It is fast paced with characters whose passion is palpable in each scene together. A compelling story filled with action and heartache; you won’t be able to put this book down.

I like how Palmer continues with the same overall story arc for the series but adds new aspects and plot points to each book so it keeps it interesting. We’re still worried about Satanan rising again but we face an all-new villain in Hunger Untamed.
This is a wonderful addition to the series and we learn more about how the Mages and Therians joined forces and combined their power to defeat Satanan originally. The race against the clock to save Tighe & Hawke will keep you on the edge of your seat and there is also a subplot involving Wolfe and a human named Natalie and her brother Xavier. Ecstasy Untamed, the 6th book in this series is due out at the end of November will feature Hawke, and with the tiny cliffhanger at the end of Hunger Untamed I am anxious to see what happens, though I hope we see more of Wolfe and Natalie as well. It’s sure to be entertaining regardless! This is a must read series for all romance lovers.

Now into the story, I never guess Kougar will have his own books, and his book come after Jag. Since he is so cold and distant. But here he was, his story was told and he must reunite with his lost wife (at last he think, she is already dead) Arianna.

What I love from Feral Warrior series is the emotional battle between the hero and the heroine. Kougar and Ariana have a hard battle, battle based on trust, since Arianna deceive Kougar with her fake death. Even Kougar hate his ex wife with passion, he still need Arianna's power to help his friend, Hawke and Tighe who trapped at Daemon's vortex, and deep inside,he still love her. This book not too steamy, if we compare it with previous books, which make me a little bit disappointed. I already prepare some panties in case I need those, when things get hot and dirty *snicker*, but seems that I don't need it, LMAO!

Why I just give it 4 stars, first is I just feel a little bit connection between Kougar & Arianna, maybe it just my feeling. And then at this book Kougar already know Ariana is alive and deceive him, while I remember at Rapture Untamed, there's no hint Kougar know about Arianna. Am I missed something? :/

I think the next book is about Wulfe, since we will get hint for his-maybe- heroine, but Ecstasy Untamed is about Hawke, who just freed from Daemon's trap by Arianna. Hawke hurt so bad, physically and emotionally. It will take his heroine to heal him and bring him back as a warrior again.

Well, maybe I can win Ecstasy Untamed ARC too? I will never know ;-)

A little disappointed, I waited for this book and was excited to read it, but it was a bit of a let down, I actually skipped pages. I didn't like that she didn't have a good reason for staying away from him for so long. The poor guy has been through hell and still forgives her, which made me like him, but I felt as if she didn't really deserve him. It's good, the love scenes are good, but I don't like the heroine that much. Glad Tighe and Hawk are ok.

Another great book in the Feral Warrior series. This one is the tale of Kougar and Ariana, a relationship in turmiol for many years, action packed, with even more history in the over all story. A quick read, page turner, that keeps you intersted. Along with the others, this books, contains, action, drama, sex, romanace and the paranormal elements that make this a great series. Cant wait to see where the this series goes next.
