Every April, when the wind blows from the sea and mingles with the scent of lilacs, Landon Carter remembers his last year at Beaufort High. It was 1958, and Landon had already dated a girl or two. He even swore that he had once been in love. Certainly the last person in town he thought he'd fall for was Jamie Sullivan, the daughter of the town's Baptist minister. A quiet g...more

I like the book better than the movie.

the struggle of jamie and langdon for their love over death...sounds cliche, but i think the book is the second best romance story next to Love Story by Erich Segal.

try to read it at 2 am in the morning when all you hear is silent and you'll get into the story until you burst into tears...

i smiled.
i cried.

nice.

I'm Rollie... and now leaping over my bounded forte?

Romance is the least among the genres that I craved to try. Instead, I stumbled upon reading this love story book. A risk indeed to read a different genre especially when it exempts among the genres you always thinks about. Thus, it doesn't just take twenty gulps to risk for it but takes time and sweat to decide the dilemma whether to give it a shot or not. Lately, I decided to widen my braced genres and I thought this book is wort...more

My all-time favorite movie turned out to be twice as good in literary form! I was thrilled to find scenes not included in the movie and descriptions that really brought you closer to the characters. Even though I already knew the storyline, I still could not stop the tears from coming. In fact, everytime I read the book, I fall in love with Landon all over again! Gosh, we've been having this affair for years now, it's ridiculous.

A Walk to Remember was a great book and I surely recommend his book to not just girls, but to all genders. I am pretty sure that the author, Nichols Sparks, wrote this book mainly to captivate the romance, and sensitivity that we all have inside. This novel was surely a beautiful love story, and also a stab in the heart if you really got into it. My favorite character was Jamie, in a way she kind of reminded me of…me. I guess because, in the story she was shy, sweet, mysterious, and I personally...more

When I first saw the movie, I loved it very mush ,so that I have watched this movie more than 40 times. When I find the book on the internet and read it, I even loved the idea more. You feel a life which can be very true and the sacrifices that a person could do to make this life easier. This is my favorite part:
"Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful. Love tak...more

A Walk to Remember details the story of Jamie Sullivan, a preacher's daughter who seems to know everything, and Landon Carter, the boy who would never be tempted by Jamie in real life. The plot is predictable enough, even if you haven't seen the movie. I won't spoil the ending here, but it leaves quite a lot to be desired.

I wanted to like this book, since so many people I knew enjoyed it, but I ended up hating it. The material was far too idyllic in some parts, and overly sanguine in...more

Ok, this is the one that started it all for me. It was the first book I had read in a very long time and I loved it!! I cried at the end and my heart just broke for the two of them. I can't say I liked the movie much. As far as I am concerned, it strayed way too much from the storyline. They made it too modern and the whole appeal of the book was the time that it was set in. This one made me wonder if any of the others was any good. I was very impressed with "Message..." (that one made...more

This book was really good. It is for sure one of my favorites. The book and movie are not exactly the same. Jamie's character is inspiring. She is such a good person and changes Landon's character for the better.- A miracle- This is the first book that I couldnt read at times because my eyes were filled with tears. A Walk to Remember is a fantastic, quick read that is worth your time.

What can I say? I can't even begin to explain how wonderful this book was. Once again, Nicholas Sparks outdone himself. When I first started reading this, I didn't expect much, seeing as how it was a tragedy and I don't really care for tragedies, after the disaster with Romeo and Juliet LOL. However, there was something more to this book than other sad books I've read in my life. For one, this book touched my heart-REALLY touched my heart- and made me ask myself all these questions about love an...more

The following review contains the word “sweet” numerous amount of times. You cannot say you haven’t been warned.

Jamie Sullivan is to put it bluntly a goody two shoes. She makes everyone else look like their behavior is less than stellar. At least that was what Landon and probably half of the town thinks of her. The setting is in the 50’s and completely clean and wholesome. It was a nice change for me. Cynics will tear the whole book apart, but I won’t. It made me feel good and not t...more

I only picked up this book from the library because they didn't have the specific books I was looking for in, so I walked through the aisles and randomly selected a few so the trip wasn't a waste. When I saw it on the shelf, I remembered that someone a while ago had recommended that I read it and "The Notebook" by Nicholas Sparks, and because books are almost always better than the movie versions, I decided to give it a shot.

I actually liked the movie when I saw it. I am ...more

OK, so here is my review. I didn't expect to like this book, which was why it was the best surprise EVER for me to love it... I got it for my Kindle with library lending, and after I finished it, I immediately bought it for my Kindle. I will most definitely be reading this book again, there is no doubt about that. I loved Jamie so much, she is one of my favorite characters ever

And for those of you wondering, yes, I did cry at the end. A lot, actually...

CRY, Mandy Moore

The song Cry, perfectly describes A Walk To Remember. It was short, but it would definitely be etched in my cranium for forever.

Who wouldn’t know Landon Carter and Jamie Sullivan? In the movie, they were cast as Mandy Moore and Shane West.

This is my first Nicholas Sparks book but I'm not unfamiliar with his style of writing. If the few movies that I've watched and this book are any indication then he writes predominately beautiful tragedies. This usually isn't my type of book but trying new styles sometimes give pleasant surprises.

I won't say that I'd gladly recommend this book but it had a lot of meaning in it. Landon is a likeable character even with his minor flaws; he really is a good guy. He is funny at how he t...more

I haven’t seen the movie, but I know that someone died. Even if I had this one big spoiler, I still wanted to read the book. Having read all but two (including this) of Nicholas Sparks’ novels, I could somehow predict what would happen (other than the dying part). But knowing what was coming didn’t rob me of the jumble of emotions I always feel when reading his works. A Walk To Remember evoked all kinds of emotion - it was funny and sad, promising and depressing, youthful and mature, all at ...more

Tahu gak apa yang kusuka dari buku ini?
Ini novel isinya kisah cinta. Tapi ditulis oleh penulis laki-laki, dengan sudut pandang anak cowok. Makanya isinya lebih menyentuh. Cara penulisannya enak banget.

Why is this dude a bestselling author? Is that some terrible commentary about modern society? I read this in a waiting room -- I would have been better off with back issues of People magazine.

A feeling of love, hope and kindness- all these feelings we lost day by day, because we don’t realize that all these feelings are the true meaning of love. This book will bring you joy and tears, it will help you realize the true meaning of love, and it will let you see that there is someone out there for everyone. This is one of those books that would be impossible to forget. The memory of love does exist and it’s unforgettable and an amazing life experience. How can a book make you feel all ...more

My librarian suggested this book because the author is from a nearby town and is a local celebrity here. Plus, I now know all of the cities that are mentioned in all of Nicolas Sparks books. So I was excited to read some more Southern lit.
In a nutshell, this is a story for teens, not adults. I would have LOVED this book when I was 15. But since it's now 20 years later and I've read quite a bit, the story is too easy to predict. You see everything coming. (And I've never seen the movie.) Do...more

Landon Carter is now 57 years old and he is telling his love story from when he was a senior in high school. He still remembers the events of something that he thought was just a friendship as if it was yesterday.

When I was younger I read a lot of Lurlene McDaniel. You know, she wrote books mostly about kids/teens with terminal illnesses and either their lives, friendships, or romances that they formed with people. So, reading A Walk to Remember wasn't anything new or unique to me.

The book was really well written, though, and if I wasn't reading it next to my mom I probably would have started crying at the end... but I didn't. I sort of wished Nicholas Sparks made Jamie seem less like a saint...more

I have seen the movie version of this book several time, in fact I have it in my dvd collection. I went into this book knowing what was going to happen so I thought it would just be interesting to see how the book and the movie differ.

They honestly don't differ too much, the movie is set in the modern world of today and they changed a bit of the scenarios around but its still the same great story.

Even though I knew what was going to happen in the book as I was reading I...more
