This collection covers twenty two cases, some insightful, some humorous, and some tragic. The tales evoke tears and laughter, pleasure at the downfall of criminals, and anger at arrogant evil-doers.

Leon Cazador is not your typical private eye. He's served in the Spanish Foreign Legion, Spain's intelligence unit, and after witnessing the Twin Towers tragedy in 2001 while serving with the United Nations, he returned to civilian life, setting up his private investigations agency.

Even here, he's not typical. While working the usual gamut, con men, crooked politicians, kidnappings, he also encounter terrorists, smugglers, both illegal aliens, and exotic animals.

SPANISH EYE is a marvelous collection of short stories linked by a common protagonist, the private investigator Leon Cazador. I wouldn't usually choose short stories, generally the longer a story the better, and if it's part of a series then better still! However, this book features a series of tales about the same private investigator, and gives a real feel for the characters and locations involved, I enjoyed it immensely and look forward to further books featuring Leon!

I know Nik Morton more as a writer of westerns. His Bullets For a Ballot was reviewed here a while ago. Spanish Eye is something else.

Nik is one of those Brits who left the dark, rainy North for the sunny south coast of Spain, which is where this collection of 22 stories, featuring private investigator Leon Cazador, takes place.

More at my blog.

I'm biased since I wrote this collection of 21 tales by a half-Spanish half-English PI.
