This is a charming little cookbook from the author of one of my favorite books from my childhood--My Side of the Mountain. It's obvious from how she writes the stories and recipes in this book that she is extremely familiar with wild food and foraging around the USA, and how to prepare that food in pleasing ways. I'm not sure how likely I am to find many of these ingredients, aside from wild berries and nuts and day lilies (the day lilies are in my organic garden.), but I copied a number of the ...more

Featuring recipes that Sam himself did, anyone who has always wanted to try Acorn Pancakes or Dandelion Salad after reading the book, will for sure need to read this one!
