it's the first day of the last year of school and the path ahead looks bleak. days pass, things happen. i read this book three times. when i think about this book i fill with cigarette smoke inside.

regarding the writing, i find it takes me a moment to get into the story. for the first few pages, i read just letting words wash, not really processing what's going on. but soon through the images it's like a fog slowly lifts and loads of meaning layers are now visible. and some of them More...

This is good, excellent even, it seems like every once in a while there are these tableaus, an image, an arrangement of people that just do something, and they exist both outside of and within the narrative, but they're really nice. I think FENCES "moved me" more, it is, perhaps, more desperate? It has been a while since I read it. Anyway, it was good, yes, and now I need to leave it in a bookstore so someone else can read it.
