Dare She Date the Dreamy Doc?
by
Sarah Morgan (Goodreads Author)
Five reasons why I shouldn't fall in love with Dr. Ryan McKinley:
1. I've been divorced less than a year
2. I'm ordinary and he is a sex god
3. I have my daughter to think of
4. I have to work with the man
5. He might break my heart…
Nurse Jenna Richards did not come all the way to Glenmore to fall head over heels for the first sexy doctor she saw. But what's a single mom to do...more

Jenna Richards is newly divorced, out of money, humiliated by her ex-husband's cheating ways, and toting a snotty teenager with an attitude when she shows up on the fictional island of Glenmore in Scotland to become a nurse in the small medical practice which services the island. Jenna's confidence is in tatters, and she's desperately worried about her 15 year old daughter Lexi who is upset about the divorce and even more upset at her mother for dragging her away from her friends and home and ev...more
For me this was probably closer to a 3-star book, but it was so much more sane than the previous book that I read by this author that I had to bump it up.
Adult characters act like adults and teenage characters act their age. The difficulties of starting over are dealt with realistically. The hero is a decent person without being over-the-top about it. A couple of elements I was not as keen on: The heroine was a bit spineless toward her ex for the sake of not upsetting her daughter, but apparent...more

Newly divorced and starting over, Jenna and her teenage daughter move to a small island called Glenmore. There Jenna meets and works with Ryan McKinley. Jenna doesn't know how to handle the instant chemistry with Ryan. She's a single mother and he's a sex god. Her first priority is creating a safe and secure world for her daughter, but Ryan is determined to teach Jenna how to put her needs first.

I have nothing against Harlequins except their titles. This title is so gag-worthy that I'm grateful I read it on my Kindle and nobody could see the title.
It was a good, solid book with great characters, solid back stories and nicely written. It had a teenage daughter who set my teth on edge (just like a real teen!). I'd recommend it as a light read.

Heroine is retreating to a remote Scottish island to work as a nurse, hiding from a bad divorce, dragging her teenaged daughter along. She feels old, unattractive and exhausted. Hero is a doctor on the island, who retreated there for the same reason--bad divorce. They have to work together and draw each other out of their respective shells, with the unwanted help of all the nosy, matchmaking neighbors. I liked this because the characters felt very real--insecure, unsure, and yet trying to be ope...more
OK, so I bought this book because the title made me giggle. Seriously bad reason to buy a book. I tried to start this several times, and now I'm just going to give up. Oh well! :P
4.5 stars
Nurse Jenna came to Glenmore Island after her divorce to start a new life for herself and her teenage daughter Lexi. Dr Ryan has been living on the island for two years recovering from a terrible marriage. These two were heartbroken and had a lot of past baggage to deal with. I loved Jenna and Ryan and I was very invested in their lives and rooting for their HEA. I loved Lexi's sarcasm and the matchmaking islanders, even Rebel the dog. This is a feel-good story that will keep the smile...more

I got this after a good review on Dear Author. I have reached the part where Jenna and her daughter (who has left, pissed off, in search of cell phone connection) have been driven to their house by the Dreamy Doc. I want to shake Jenna, who in my eyes is a wimpy divorcee without a sliver of backbone. Will get back to this later. It is supposed to be good.
