Broken Rainbows is the seventh book in the Hearts of Gold series - although like the other books in the series it could easily be enjoyed on its own.
It is set in 1942, when America's entry to the war brings some dramatic changes. In Pontypridd the arrival of a regiment of American GIs certainly stirs things up for all the ladies - single and married - who have been starved of male company for 3 years. There are romances, seductions, betrayals, and more than a few marriage vows are tested.

Book 7 in this series is just as good as the previous 6. Broken Rainbows covers the last few years of World War II and explores the lives of the inhabitants of a village whose men have gone off to war and how they coped, not only with raising their children, but working in munitions factories, surviving on rations, supporting each other, and in the latter years coping with the "invasion" of the American forces to their little village, and the relationships that then develop.
