I picked this book up because of all the media hyper surrounding it—the Disney option and the New York Times bestseller status, not to mention the cute cover and interesting premise. Who hasn’t found themselves imagining what it would be like to be a secret government operative during an especially boring Physics lecture? Behold: the appeal of this book (to me, at least).

With all this in mind, why oh why was I so disappointed upon finishing it?

Because this book was subpar to its medi...more

Welcome to The Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women, an all-girls school located just outside of Roseville, Virginia. Anyone looking at this elite private boarding school would see just what The Gallagher Academy wants you to see--a preppy school for privileged girls, complete with a guardhouse and stone wall to keep the curious away from their precious charges. And they'd be right, of course, and yet they would be so very, very wrong!

The main reason I picked up this book was because of the title; it's totally cute. And when I read the blurb, I liked the storyline. What's not to like about a girl genius who's currently a sophomore in SPY school? I've watched enough movies to know that there'll be cool gadgets and undercover cops involved.

The Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women is an all girls school--but unlike regular schools, it's a place for retired FBI agents working as teachers and teenagers who are studyi...more

I am a daydreamer—I think most readers are. As a freshman in high school, I had a recurring fantasy about being a spy. At the time, I was taking Russian classes (back when the Cold War was a recent memory) and spent hours imagining what life would be like if I’d been bred for espionage. What if I were fluent in fourteen languages? What if I could kill a man (or woman) with a ketchup bottle?

I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You by Ally Carter is my teenage fantasy come to...more

I was so amped to read this book. I'd read the Alex Cross series about the 14 year-old James Bond type kid. And now there is a series about girls who go to a spy school? Awesome!

Cammie Morgan is one of the girls who attends Gallagher Academy - a school that on the surface seems to be a snooty prep school for very wealthy girls. But it is really a school for extremely (we're talking off the charts) smart who attend a school to learn how to enter the world of spies with excellent training. Th...more

I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have To Kill You, is a great book that is not only for girls. In this novel, the main character Cammie Morgan is a normal young lady. But there is one little thing that is weird about her, she goes to all-girl spy school called The Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women. The reason why I said that this school was a spy school was because they teach fifteen different languages, the latest in chemical warfare, how to brake CIA codes, and advanced ma...more

On the outside, Cammie Morgan goes to an all-girls boarding school; but really, her school is a school for spies. If you imagine Hogwarts (Harry Potter’s school) and empty it of its magic and wizards; then fill it with spy’s it would be very much like The Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women. By tenth grade, Cammie can speak fourteen different languages and is taught the latest in chemical warfare in science. Students received extra credit for breaking CIA codes in computer class ...more

I liked this book in the same way that I like the Princess Diaries movies (1 and 2). It's cute. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy. I giggle when it's witty. And when the lights come up (or I reach the back cover), there's a smile on my face.

Cammie "The Chameleon" goes to a spy school. I mean, how cool is that! Yes, at times, the plot is cringe-worthy (I mean, the basic conflict is the fact that she can't tell the perfect boy that she can throw him to the pavement from six different p...more

You thought regular high school was tough, well Cammie is going to Gallagher Academy, an all girl school for spies. By sophomore year she is fluent in over ten languages, can kill a man seven different ways and hacks into the CIA for extra credit. So falling for a boy shouldn't be so stressful, not when you are a spy-in-training. Having a relationship with a boy may be the toughest mission Cammie may try to undertake.

A lesson that I learned the hard way, or more like the I'm-delusional-be...more

Cammie Morgan is your average 10th grade private boarding school student…if that school was a school for spies, where students learn a dozen languages, break government codes for extra credit, and learn how to kill a man with a piece of uncooked spaghetti in gym class. Cammie can scale a building or tail someone without being seen, but now she’s facing the one thing she’s not prepared for: a normal teenage boy who likes her, and thinks that she’s a normal girl.

This book is a lot of ...more

This book was awsome, I know that I can say that about a lot of books, but this one went above and beyond. Though Cammie (the protagonist)doesn't have to kill anyone, this is still everyone you want in a teen chicklit.
I really liked the whole secret spy thing and how Cammie has that whole girl-power thing going for her. Though, I'm not a big fan of the secret boyfriend affair (they didn't have an affair I'm just using the word to describe Cammie keeping her spy life and her boyfriend seperate...more

She's a spy. She had never seen or relate to any guy around her age before. She is going to be on her most important misson yet. To fall in love. And she's Cammie Morgan.

Cammie had attented Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women. Her mother is the headmaster there too. When she went onto an external misson, she came across a guy. Josh. Troubles then unravelled like a ball of yarn. Firstly, she lied about being a normal girl. Then she hacked into his profile abd email while ramaging th...more

Interesting, but predictable. But I did like it a lot, based on what I already like from stuff like Alias and spy stuff. It was like a Alias-in-training kind of deal. I've also noticed that a lot of these YA books I've been reading lately have these covers with only the lower half of girls faces, with smirks or impish grins. What's the deal? Do book cover girls not deserve to have their whole face shown? It's artsy and I like it, but not on every YA book I read. Also, I kinda started re...more

This book is probably one of my favorite books. It has great humor and action. It also has problems most teenage girls can relate to like finding a boyfriend and gossip. The story starts out with the main character Cammie Morgan, she goes to a boarding school called Gallagher Academy. Most people think it’s just a school for rich snobby girls but it’s really a school of spies. They learn about everything from how to kill someone with uncooked piece spaghetti and how to speak 14 different lan...more

This book was really good and I know I am going to read the second one!!! The main character's name is Cammie Morgan and the review says she goes to a "genius" school, which is actually a spy school, called Gallagher Academy. She learns/knows how to speak 14 different languages fluently, and she can kill a man in 7 different ways!!! But, the one thing Gallagher hasn't prepared her for is how to deal with an ordinary boy who thinks you're an ordinary girl that she falls for. Ugh!!!...more

I wish I had a life like Cammie's. Her days at Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women are filled with hours of cracking codes, learning forgein languages, and learning how to kill a man more than 3 diff. ways with a piece of uncooked spaghetti. If that doesnt sound like fun then what is! But Cammie also has to deal with being a teenage girl. She falls for a guy who lives in the neighborhood, but like all the surrounding families, the disdain for the 'snobby and rich heiresses' of Gallag...more

Cammie goes to a very special, elite private boarding school. The locals think it's just another dumb private school for the wealthy rich snobs who unfortunately populate our planet, but in actuality, it's a super secret boarding school for training female spies!!! Yes, it is a girls school, but hello! Spy training! This is basically the story of one girl who goes to the school, and how she deals with new teachers, her mother being headmistress, a new roommate, and her first boyfriend. It was re...more
