Nostalgia bit hard, like the winter described in this book. I always had a soft spot for Ivor the Engine when I was young and finding this book really took me back to those days as the snow episode is the one that always sticks in my mind.

Is it a great work of fiction? Well... no. It's a great Children's book though, and there's a beautiful description of the winter landscape that made it worth reading and if you're of a certain age and remember Ivor on TV then this is wonderful to leaf though.

There is not only Thomas the tank engine, but also Ivor the Engine! The illustrations are from Peter Firmin.
