This is the first book that has ever inspired me to write to the press which published it.

Heritage or Heresy suffers from a number of general flaws, including lack of focus, chapters that are structured in arbitrary and confusing ways, and the tendency to make overly broad historical or interpretive claims. The book's academic credibility is also undermined by both typographical and factual errors. A few examples follow:
