This was unexpectedly brilliant. I was expecting another typical vampire YA book. Instead, I got a kickass main character. Hunter Wild is not afraid to get her hands dirty. She slays vampires, she's not a damsel in distress, she doesn't like it when boys make decisions for her. She actually cares about her best friend. Her best friend is actually crucial to the plot. Plus, she's really cool and she reminded me of my best friend, which was hilarious. They were so alike. And Hunter doesn't instant...more

I really don't know where to start. I love the Drake Chronicles, each book so far centres around one particular member of the Drake family. The family tree shown at the beginning highlights the characters to be focused on while showing the connection to the other characters.

I really don't feel as if I can go into to much plot detail with this book as it will certainly spoil the enjoyment of reading it yourself. Let me just say that I have not been disappointed yet with any of these books and th...more

Favourite Quote: "His fangs lengthened, but only a little. I wouldn't even have noticed if I wasn't used to watching for things like that. And it didn't make me nervous for some reason. I wasn't scared, and not just because I had a purse full of small sharp weapons. There was something between us suddenly, and it wasn't merely a secret unraveling."

I always have a blast reading The Drake Chronicles and Out for Blood is no exception. There are certain elements that I require for a good vampire tal...more

Still, so much dame fun!!

Out for Blood is another great installment in the Drake Chronicles where we learn more about Kieran's best friend/sister, Hunter Wild, who's a vampire hunter trainee, a kick ass fighter and can't help fall for one of the delicious Drake boys; Quinn.

I really enjoyed both Hunter and Quinn's POV. Hunter is a very level headed, strong and independent character who isn't one of these damsel in distress kinda gals. Not to say that she isn't vulnerable, but it's awesome to see...more

The funny thing is that I didn't read the first two books.

Oops!

Okay, okay, it's mostly my fault. I really didn't feel the first book and I couldn't really find the second book, so I just grabbed the third one and said 'What the hell!' and dived in. Turns out, it was easy to understand what was going on.

Besides the story line, which kept me engaged enough to want to read on, the characters were actually quite good. I adored Hunter, found Quinn to actually be hot, and some of the lines were down...more

I'm not really into reading vampire stories after the Twilight Saga but I received a copy of Ruling Passion (My Love Lies Bleeding, Blood Feud and Out for Blood) for an award.

This is the third installment of The Drake Chronicles and is written in Hunter and Quinn's POV.
Hunter being a friend of Kieran's and Quinn the twin of Connor Drake - the cuter one, apparently.

Hunter Wild is in training for the Helios Ra and comes from a prestigious line of vampire hunters. Hunter is a straight A, kick ass a...more

As always a little background first. Out for Blood is the third book in the Drake Chronicles preceded by Hearts at Stake which was about Solage, the first girl vampire to be born in the Drake Family, and her best friend Lucy, a normal human with careless parents, and after that one came Blood Feud the story of Isabel Croix, a French girl who was turned against her will and sought revenge, and Logan, a Drake brother who is romantic and likes to dress lik...more

So, I was really looking forward to this book, but I'm not going to lie, it was mostly because I heard Quinn Drake was out new star.

So maybe he totally fits the stero-type of a pretty boy, what's wrong with that? Helena Drake has just become vampire queen and are all official freaking royalty. But just because Montmarte is dead doesn't mean that revenge seeking Hosts aren't still out there.

But than we meet Hunter wild, a vampire hunter, duh. I really liked her character, she wasn't always trippi...more

Out for Blood is the third and, in my opinion, best book in the Drake Chronicles so far. Please note that this review does contain spoilers for the first two entries in this series.

I really loved the first book, Hearts at Stake, getting to know all of the Drake vampires and their history and to learn about the different types of vampires and vampire politics in author Alyxandra Harvey’s world. It was fun to see the interaction of not only the family with each other but with Solange’s (the only D...more

CHARACTERS: I loved Quinn, the latest drool-worthy Drake brother in this cast of sibling hotties He’s the playboy of the bunch, enjoying his flock of human and vampire girls falling at his feet, or in this case, his fangs. But this time it’s his turn to fall. Hunter, the last in a long line of famous vampire hunters, is a strong, spunky female lead who struggles with her family’s prejudice as she crushes on a vampire.

PLOT: Races along as the mystery unfolds through heart-pounding action and dram...more

Oh, those Drake brothers are just yummy! Each time I meet a new one, I have a new crush. Out for Blood has everything that makes The Drake Chronicles so much fun-snarky dialogue, hot romance, charming Drake brothers, and an exciting new take on vampire lore.

I love the world Alyxandra Harvey has created-the various vampire tribes and the vampire politics are always intriguing. Out for Blood has a bit of a forbidden romance feel because Hunter is a vampire hunter and Quinn is a va...more

This book is told from two perspectives, like the previous two, and it worked perfectly once again. Quinn is the Drake man of the story, and his love interest and main focus of the tale is Hunter Wild, a girl from a line of legendary Helios-Ra slayers.
I remember Quinn from previous snippets of previous books, and always wrote him off as a bit too much of a womaniser and a little... selfish, I guess is the word I’d use. But from his first chapter I realised just how wrong I was: he was (like all...more

I liked this one the best out of the three Drake Chronicles so far. They've all been entertaining with engaging characters, but this one seemed to most fleshed out & it had a good mystery throughout with a twist at the end.

This one followed Hunter Wild, Kieran's close childhood friend & fellow hunter for Helios-Ra as well as the charming Quinn Drake. Their romance was adorable & sexy without being completely unbelievable. They worked well together as a team & stuck up for each ot...more

Out For Blood is the third installment in one of my favorite series — The Drake Chronicles. In it, Harvey continues to work her paranormal magic focusing on Quinn one of the twins that make up the middle of the Drake brood.

Action packed from the jump Harvey wasted no time getting into the meat of the story by throwing the Drakes directly into the middle of Helios-Ra — an organization sworn to kill vampires. Specifically, the story focuses on it’s prep-school for budding hunters. Not wanting to s...more

The third book in The Drake Chronicles finds us back in Violet Hill with a focus on a new relationship. Hunter Wild is seemingly perfect: smart, gorgeous, strong, and youngest in a long line of revered vampire hunters. She’s excited to begin her senior year at Helios-Ra as she finally gets to room with her best friend, Chloe, and even gets to witness a vampire coronation ceremony due to the fact that her oldest friend and brother-figure, Kieran, is dating a vampire.

But Hunter’s senior year isn’t...more

I love the Drake Chronicles. What isn't to love about seven overprotective, really hot, vampire brothers? If you ask the ladies who fall for them (like me), the answer is NOTHING!

The first three books of the series covers under a month and in that time the three younger Drake brothers all manage to snag a really cool girl who kicks butt--literally. Oh, and then their little sister (who they're protective of) also finds a boy. Wow, there is some hot blood in that family! And some hot kissing. Th...more

What’s Good About It

If you’ve read my review of the previous two installments in this series, you’ll know that I think they are full of unrealised potential. It’s much the same with Out For Blood. Harvey continues with her comfortably successful formula, introducing a new female character to be a love interest for the next Drake in line. Frothy fun ensues with much ‘he was so hot’ and ‘I couldn’t explain why I was so obsessed with her’, but not a lot of character development.

The pace remains goo...more

This installment in The Drake Chronicles is about one of my favorite Drake brothers, Quinn the Playboy. He has a twin brother Connor and they are nothing alike. Quinn is sort of a player, he likes girls vampire or human. Connor tells him at one point that in order to make his phone work better he needs to get rid of some of his contacts (all girls). Quinn is very intrigued by Hunter Wild a Helios-Ra student. She has a lot of spunk and its that spunk that has him falling for her even though he tr...more

Quinn, Quinn, Quinn I love that boy so much. all the Drake boys are so dreamy. Quinn is dreamy but also kickass i love that he helps hunter a lot i love the fact that hunter is a vampire hunter though she falls in love with a vampire it just so romatic having what your not suppose to have is just amazing thing to have. my favorite part is when Hunter goes in the Drake house for the first time and she goes in Quinn's twins room and she thinks it quinn and his what his brother says is just so cut...more

My Review:
The Drake Chronicles resumes, this time following the relationship of Hunter Wild, and Quinn Drake. First of all, can I say how much I love the name Hunter Wild? She is very aptly named, as the first page of the book states. How could this character NOT turn out to be a kick-ass girl, who tries her best to do her family of hunters proud?

Though there were times that Hunter seemed very head-strong, there was never any doubt in my mind while reading, that she is a formidable person. Whoe...more

Out for Blood is the third instalment of the fun and exciting Drake Chronicles series. This time it's the turn of Quinn Drake to take up one half of the narration. Quinn's a player. He likes girls - plural - and while he's never short of a date, he's not keen on picking just one girl. At least he isn't until he meets Hunter, the other narrator of this story.

Hunter is well, a hunter. She attends the Helios-Ra High School, where vampire hunters are trained. She's from a long line of hunters and is...more

"Out for Blood" is Hunter Wild and Quinn Drake's story. Quinn Drake is a flirtatious, fun loving twin in the Drake family. He goes through girls (both human and vampires) like most people change their socks that is until he meets up with the hunter, Hunter Wild. She is fastidious, clever and strong not to mention she is sexy as well.

Students are becoming ill and a few have died. Many others are taking vitamins that are alledged to make them stronger. These so called vitamins are causing people t...more

The third volume of the Drake Chronicles revolves around Quinn, another Drake brother and Hunter Wild a student at the Helios Ra High School. Because of her friendship with the Kieran Black she is invited to Helena's coronation and so she begins her involvement with the Drakes.

This book made me the happiest by far, because not only do we get to see the start of another relationship, we also get a look at the inner workings of Helios Ra and got to do a little bit of catch up with Kieran and Sola...more

The reason I'm giving this book two (2) stars is because the author focused more on the heroine, Hunter's, POV more than the hero, Quinn's, who is an actual Drake. Why call the series "The Drake Chronicles" when you're not even going to focus on the Drakes?

As I was reading this, I realized that I was putting down the book MID-CHAPTER. Which, for anyone who knows me, is an absolute no-no for me.

I'm already reading the next book, Bleeding Hearts, and have skimmed the chapter headings. I have to sa...more

This is possibly the best book in the Drake Vampire series yet.

There were some decent mystery angles, and the Buffy/Quinn angle and connection was tinglingly good AND laugh out loud funny.

As usual, with an Alyxandra Harvey book, the narration was simple and easy to follow, whilst peppered with witty observations and sharp edged characters. I would say there was a little more description in this book than in previous books and I really liked that.

Was anything obvious missing from this book? A h...more

This book was interesting, it did not grab me as much as the first two books of the Drake Chronicles. I still love the characters, the plot was interesting, until the conclusion! I felt a little let down, and honestly, confused. The book is narrated between Hunter, a Helios-Ra student and Quinn Drake. The two met in the previous story, and with a little help from Kieran, get to know each other a lot better! The quick wit of the characters is ever present and the chemistry between Quinn and Hunte...more

I am not thrilled with this series (and I use the term “series” lightly for although there is slight plot development from book to book, each book also changes viewpoints to a new person in each book and mostly the books seem to be about each member of the Drake family falling in love) and while I enjoyed the very first book in this series, I’ve discovered my enjoyment was mostly because I liked the main characters in that book. I have not liked the main characters in either of the next two book...more

Yet another great novel by Alyxandra Harvey! I am in love with this series. In every installment in this series thus far there's been some mystery or unlikely pairing that occurs, and Out for Blood was no different!

It took me a chapter or so to get used to the idea that Hunter was a girl. Every time I read her name I kept thinking she was a boy and had to think it through before continuing on! I thought that this novel in the series had a much greater aspect of mystery and suspense than the prev...more

Hunter Wild is a top student at the Helios-Ra academy. She gets high grades, is a good fighter and has awesome friends. Hunter comes from a long line of vampire hunters. She is so good, that she gets invited to the vampire queen’s coronation. The queen is Helena Drake, who has seven sons and one daughter. While at the coronation, she meets Quinn, the third oldest Drake brother. Hunter is uninterested in the player vampire at first, but as they keep meeting they fall in love. Before they can rea...more

Alyxandra Harvey lives in a stone Victorian house in Ontario, Canada with a few resident ghosts who are allowed to stay as long they keep company manners. She loves medieval dresses, used to be able to recite all of The Lady of Shalott by Tennyson, and has been accused, more than once, of being born in the wrong century. She believes this to be mostly true except for the fac...more

“Where is Nicholas?” Kieran asked.

“He’s locked in a closet,” Lucy said with grim satisfaction. After a moment of stunned silence, Quinn snorted out a laugh.

“You locked your boyfriend in a closet?” I asked.

“Cool,” Chloe approved. The rhinestones on her earrings caught the blue lantern light.

Lucy shrugged. “Serves him right. He locked me in there last week."
