From Steven A. Roman, bestselling author of X-Men: The Chaos Engine Trilogy, comes the debut of a thrilling dark urban-fantasy novel series! Sixteen-year-old Goth girl Pandora Zwieback has a major problem: she's just discovered that her New York City hometown is the stalking ground for every monster and ghoul out to raise a little hell (literally!) . . . BUT she's ...more

I've read several things by Steve Roman in the past, both novels and comics. His “Blood Feud” is practically a novelization of a comic book, so here the reader can get the best of both worlds.
In the past, I've chided Roman—a little—about slow beginnings in some of his stories. There's a few slow parts in “Blood Feud”, but they're necessary to get a feel for the characters and their relationships. But there's nothing slow at the beginning, where we get plenty of supernatural action and several im

First off, let’s talk about the cover. I know some people had some negative say on it, but hey the book is set to look like comics, and I for one loved the art. From Pandora’s hair to her nails, everything was well-thought of. It makes her unique from all other heroines out there. So if you’re not so into the cover, just don’t mind it but let yourself be transported into Pandora’s story.

I admit the book was a little bit slow at the beginning, but later

Attention all monster maniacs, vampire victims, Goths, fans of the macabre and all-out urban fantasy, paranormal and supernatural snapper-uppers – there’s a new series on the market and you’re gonna love it!

Pandora Zwieback is such a regular kinda gal (well, apart from her “monster vision”, that is) that you can’t help liking her. As teens go, she’s one of the good ones and although she can pack a punch and is a little troubled, she’s not the kind of kid you want to slap every five seconds and t

I really wont be able to praise this book enough, it is fantastic!

Pan is not a regular 16 year old girl, from the age of 6 she she has been plagued with what she calls 'monstervision.' Her mum and dad have supported her and she has been attending a psychiatrist. Pan's mum and dad split up and she is living with her mum in Schriksdorp 'the dullest place in America.' Its hard for her to fit in with people there as she is a goth chick and they would rather make fun of her. Pan hits a girl who is m

I stumbled upon this book up at this year's New York Comic Con while wandering through Artist's Alley. Steven was set up with a small table tucked near a massive VISIT CHINA booth in the farthest side of the JJCC. Wearing a black suit and a skeleton tie, I figured, hell, that design is pretty nifty, lets see whats going on there.

He pitched the book like this "Imagine Ellen Page and Salma Hayek in a horror movie."

I bought the book, Steven very kindly signed my copy, started it that Friday and cou

Say goodbye to the sparkly, angsty vampires that seem to dominate the world today. In 'Blood Feud', Steven A. Roman takes the undead, children of the night back to their bad-ass roots as the book's intrepid heroine, Pan, navigates her way through a vampire war that has been brewing for centuries. Though targeted at young adults, 'Blood Feud' is more than enjoyable for adults because it is blessedly free of the teenage drama that runs rampant within the pages of such books.

Bottom line?

If you're a

I mostly enjoyed this,It was a bit slow in places and I felt myself getting frustrated in others.

Pan was likeable but she seemed determinedly Goth (which seemed really odd- she was into monsters if they were part of the gothic thing but otherwise she was terrified of them and felt like they'd destroyed her life). and for most the book she was smart and savvy, but it seemed like she took a stupid pill at the end and went into horror movie chick mode (i.e. the super strong monsters might be hurtin

I won this book as a Goodreads First Read...

Do you like to read Vampire books but hate the whiny, poor me Vampires portrayed in books these days? Then this book is for you! I did feel it started off a little slow but once I got to the end I felt the beginning was justified (you need the back story!). The only thing that REALLY drove me crazy is that the next book in the series doesn't come out until Spring of 2012!! I want to read it NOW. It will be interesting to see how the series plays out. I

Blood Feud's a big style cinematic vampire and monster hunter shoot 'em up with a very human, sweet kid caught in the crossfire. Like any outsider teen, Pandora has her troubles (as if "Monstervision" isn't enough), and can get two fisted when she needs to, but her relationship with her parents and close friends makes the story gold. A teen horror heroine who gets a precious reason to genuinely smile amidst the freaky scary stuff? Pretty endearing.
