From one of America's most unknown authors comes a book so humorous, so vile, so inane ... it could only be a cry for help.

If you're searching for a refreshing style that's a tad demented, with characters that burrow deep into your mind and never leave, you've found the right book. Follow the Money is a collection of ten interconnected short stories that will grab you, wr...more

I don’t normally read books that are a collection of short stories. However, after reading the jacket blurb for "Follow The Money" I figured I should make an exception because this book sounded like it would be funny. Plus, I really wondered what Peanut Butter Crunch, cowboy boots and Jesus all had in common. I was also curious why Katie Couric was in the same equation as Heineken and hot peppers. Curiosity hasn't killed me yet so I decided to read “Follow The Money” since it was the only way to...more

Follow The Money: A Collection of Interconnected Short Stories
Author: Ross Cavins
Publisher: RCG Publishing
ISBN: 978-1438253961

I knew I had discovered a Kindred Spirit in author Ross Cavins when he started this collection of short stories with an all time favorite quote of mine from Moliere: "Writing is like prostitution. First You do it for love, then for a few close friends and then for money." This book is among the funniest I have ever read.

What I especially love is that the humor sort of sn...more

Ross Cavins is a self-admitted VIP wannabe and claims to be America's most unknown author. However, with published works in various magazines and as a free-lance web designer with a sharp a satirical wit, unknown author is an exaggeration. Unrecognized, unwilling to follow the mold, unrelenting in his pursuit of the humorous anecdote—perhaps these more aptly describe the author. From his home in North Carolina, he has ample material from which to draw inspiration in his so-called "redneck" corne...more

I guess most of us try to "follow the money", one way or another, throughout our lives, and in his book Ross Cavins presents this human trait in a humorous and quite sexy way.
Not just a collection of shortstories, he cleverly links the ten storylines, so you'll meet characters (and quite a bit of money) again in other stories, thus getting different perspectives on a particular person or event. While it's an interesting premise to start with, most storylines and personalities are unfortunatelly...more

I won this through a goodreads giveaway. The idea of inter-connected short stories is something I've seen done at least a few times in my reading past. Yet I've never come across anything quite like Follow The Money. Certain genres seem to lend themselves to this kind of conceptual format. The examples I can remember were either sci-fi / fantasy and horror. I suppose supernatural or otherwise fantastical stories leave a certain amount of leeway for an author to manufacture connections between sh...more

I love it! So funny!
Before I talk about the actual stories, I have to say that I think this book is a "men's romance". hehe This is what I mean... Usually in romances the woman is a regular gal, with flaws and everything, who could be just like me. She meets a sexy, hard-bodied, perfect man to have sex with and live happily ever after. So, alternately, a men's romance would be about an average dude who finds a young, tiny, tight-bodied woman with big, bouncy boobs. To look at and have sex with....more

Raunchy, bizarre, and plain ole absurd. Follow The Money was like a gritty train wreck that you want to look away from but just can't, into the minds of reoccuring characters that have their limits tested when it comes to things like greed, pride, lust, envy and extravagance.

Split into ten interconnected short stories this book will make you laugh so hard, you'll pee yourself just a little, especially when you get to the story entitled, "HAVE FUN TONIGHT."

This is a new shelf favorite of mine and...more

Follow the Money was an amusing, quick read. I thought it was a novel idea and enjoyed reading to follow the money. I especially liked that some of the stories more prominently featured the money while others were more subtle. The characters were neatly woven into the stories as well. The stories were humorous, but not quite laugh-out-loud funny. Towards the end I felt that the characters became a little cliche, there's only so many rednecks with stupid sidekicks that I can take. Overall I enjoy...more

A review e-book copy was provided for review by the author.

This book was hilarious, right from the dedication through to the end. I still hate to admit that I have a sick and dark sense of humor, but the fact that I laughed through most of this book I think just sets that even more in stone...

The stories were so weird. They all seemed to revolve around, what most people would consider, "trash". Sadly though there were a few characters that when I started reading them I thought to myself "This...more

Normally I'm not a fan of short stories. However the idea of "following the money" in this collection intrigued me. What a great concept. So glad I gave it a whirl in spite of my general avoidance of short stories. I was pleasantly surprised and it was fun getting to the next chapter to see who got the money next and how. Great characters as well. I really enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more from Ross Cavins.

Ross Cavins has written one of the most creative books of short stories that i have ever read. All the stories are imaginative, resourceful, witty and creative . each story is connectted by..................,you guessed it, money. After the 1st story, I was in deep like, after the 2nd story, i couldn't put the book down. Ross should quit his day job and become a full time writer. I can't wait for his next book.

I won this book thru Library Thing and I was lucky enough to get an autographed copy. Normally I tend to turn my nose up at short stories, but I found this book quite clever and only wished it had not ended so soon. I like how the author shows the money changing hands throughout the book, each of the ten stories follows the progression of the money. The characters are pretty believable and I loved the authors’ sense of humor. I would love to see a follow-up to this book or continued characters i...more

This book is hilarious right from the dedications. I loved "following the money" to see where it would pop up in each story and to see how people lost and gained it.

Any book that gives a vampire disclaimer, and notes that while I wouldn't read the book with my mother, but may recommend it to her, gets a thumbs up right out of the chute!

This was a highly entertaining book that had me shaking my head at times at the sheer idiocy of the characters. I think most of the characters would fit in well with those named on the year-end "dumbest criminals" lists. I loved the comparisons to "The Walmarts" in Chapter 3...all I could think of was the "People of Walmart"...more

I received this as an e-book through LibraryThing and it wasn't anything like I expected. I was expecting a dry read about how to rework my non-existent finances but instead I read a great collection of short stories that provided me with quite a few laughs. I loved how characters intertwined in different stories. A great read and something anyone looking for a good laugh should read.

IT IS THE FUNNIEST BOOK EVER. And I'm not just saying that because I wrote it. Really, read the reviews here and on my page: http://money.rosscavins.com

I received a copy of this book through First Reads.

Follow the Money is a fun read. Cavins cleverly connects his stories, but each can stand on its own. In each story, the characters and situation unfold to reveal how each come into contact with and subsequently lose the loot. Partly outrageous, entirely enjoyable, Cavins makes it worthwhile for the reader to follow the money.

A fun read. Similar characters to Elmore Leonard. I laughed out loud.

I'll say I liked the clever title and concept "follow the money": interlinking short stories that are entirely different from each other except one character that will cross paths into the next. But after the 1st 3 or so I got bored, I get it - the money's moving, crazy off-the-wall circumstances, greed, sex. "Pulp-fictionish" Crass, "locker room talk" style says it's clearly written by a dude.

This was a very enjoyable read. I don't know what I fear the most-that the characters in this book are based on Ross's observations, or created in an obviously twisted mind. The characters are uniquely American-the double wide dwellers, the Walmart people, the small town characters, and many more.

The stories flow naturally from one to the next, nothing reads as being forced, none of them is a throwaway just to move the process along to the end.

Thanks, Ross!

This book had me laughing out loud! I usually don't read short stories, but they're all connected by "the money" so it worked out well. Highly recommend for a laugh (or two!)

My first book on the Kindle! Had a hard time putting it down (combination of Kindle addiction and just a really good story, I think). Great idea for a plot Mr. Cavins! Couldn't wait to see how each set of crazy characters was going to connect with the last. Sex, lies, money, murder, and mayhem (all in the "good ole" Southern US) definitely a fun read!

I won this book from First Reads and am looking forward to reading it now that it's arrived. Since this book has short stories I may sneak them in one at a time between the other books I'm committed to read.

The correlation between money and casual encounters became obviouse to me during my university years. This is a great book for all who, one way or another, have come to realize that correlation - the book is Just ( both as adverb and adjective) Fun!
