Yvonne Pat Wright opens her cupboards, her kitchen, and her heart. She gives the reader descriptions and uses (historical and present day) of herbs and spices. The use of the spice or herb reminds her of a story about people she has known, places she has been, or things she has experienced or discovered. Then, she gives the reader a recipe that used the herb or spice as a main ingredient. But, throughout, she is sharing what it has taken to make her relationship with Jesus grow and last. Then sh...more

Can spices in our daily make food more tasty? Can Jesus be the main ingredient in your life? Yvonne Wright tells us all about her relationship in finding a special Friend, Saviour, Helper, Healer and a Comforter in the person of Jesus Christ.

Hummmm!!! I love using spices in my food, a bit of "paprika" makes my food more tasty, I cannot even resist an "hazelnut" or a "vanilla" coffee, I think that a flavoured coffee tastes much better than an ordinary coffee.

I have very much enjoyed Yvonne Wright...more

It didn’t take long for me to realize that From Spice to Eternity is a unique treasure. The subject is life in an eternal and infinite context, but the setting is time and space. Yvonne Pat Wright has incorporated a zest for food and flavors with a zest for life eternal in book that is beautiful and sometimes whimsical. It is a very special book.

I love to cook, and I thought I knew a lot about herbs and spices. I wasn’t expecting to read solid information about each spice along with enticing rec...more

My Thoughts on this book!

Spices for a Christian book? Knowing that Yvonne wrote this book I knew it would be good, but I didn’t know what to expect with the spices tied into her Biblical writings. I found out that I was in for a treat! I used this book for a devotional, reading a few chapters each night and I was blessed with each chapter I read. In each chapter of From Spice to Eternity Yvonne gives us a spice and its meaning and purpose, then follows by a devotion tying this spice into our spi...more

This is an excellent mix between spices and the meaning of our Savior’s gift to us. This is an excellent book that puts together the pure and true love of our Savior without overdoing it. The writing is fluid and especially simple, so everyone can understand. It is the kind of book that inspires you to get out of bed in the morning and do some good.
The book is beautifully crafted to contain Yvonne’s personal stories and how they have inspired her to be closer to the Lord. The stories are also ti...more

At first I was hesitant to read this book because I really wondered: What do spices have to do with eternity? If you are not interested in spices do not worry, recipes is not all there is in this book. This book is a pleasant apportioning of Yvonne Pat Wright’s personal events, thoughts and feelings and I never thought books can be tasty and crispy until I read this one.
This book reminded me of how Jesus would use parables to explain some Kingdom principles. I laughed, giggled and almost cried a...more

Faith building is the best way to describe this book unless you use WOW. “From Spice to Eternity: Discovering the Main Ingredient to a Life of Fulfillment and Purpose” by Yvonne Pat Wright is an excellent uplifting and inspiring book of God’s power and the victorious life he has for us.

I thoroughly enjoyed the author’s writing style. Her words and sentences flow with a harmony and peacefulness that made it hard to stop reading. It was easy to identify with each story and apply it to my life. I r...more

Take a collection of savory recipes and combine with sometimes poignant, sometimes joyful, but always memorable personal anecdotes. Blend in a healthy portion of Christian faith, love, joy, and grace along with a sprinkling of Bible verses and a dash of botanical history and you have a recipe for perfection. Ms Wright's passion for both her cooking and her faith are evident throughout the book, but her touch is light and inviting--never oppressive or judgmental. I'm already making a list of peop...more

I set out to review this book at the request of the author on a review thread I started.

I wasn't provided with a free copy but I picked up the sample with the intention of buying if the sample engaged me. Unfortunately the first 10% of the book that Amazon provided doesn't get any further than the contents page and at this point I'm not willing to spend this amount on an ebook I wouldn't normally read when I can't even sample it properly. I've not affixed a star rating of any kind as that would...more
