A true cowboy is a man of faith, patriotic, loves "the land", is good to horses and dogs and tolerates cats. He adores his family and friends. He would give his life for his country and his loved ones. Upon first glance, all of these characteristics may not be readily apparent. Sometimes, cowboys hoot and holler. Sometimes, they are quiet and thoughtful. They are always worth a second look. Denise Hunter writes these characters so well, and her depictions of ranch life plant your feet right in t...more

A COWBOY’S TOUCH by Denise Hunter is my kind of book. It had a great story, good characters, and the right amount of romantic tension to keep you turning page after page.

When her mother/boss puts her on a three month leave of absence to get her hypertension under control, Abigail ends up in Moose Creek, Montana with her aging Aunt. Investigative reporter Abigail Jones has been the TruthSeeker for years. Reluctantly, she heads to Moose Creek, Montana for the summer vacation ordered by her boss (aka her mom) and a visit with her Aunt Lucy. Coincidences and circumstances lead her to accept a position as nanny to Maddy, Wade Ryan's daughter. Wade's good looks and a few innocent comments by Abigail's aunt lead her to discover that Wade Ryan was a rodeo heartthrob who disappeared after his wife mysteriously died years ago. He's...more

This is just a nice, quick, feel-good book of two somewhat unlikely people finding themselves at the same place and time. Wade's carrying the guilt of his wife's death from years before and feels unworthy to love or be loved by another woman. Abigail is secretly doing research to try and save her mother's magazine. There's a collision of wills and a fall-out, soul-searching, redemption and feeling good.

The protagonist is Abigail, a Chicago born and raised woman who is sent off to check on her ol...more

For a first time foray into western romance Denise Hunter has done an outstanding job. There's humor and heartache, with just enough romance to warm the heart. But coming from such a gifted author this is not surprising!

In A Cowboy's Touch we meet Abigail, the quintessential independent young woman, who is an investigative reporter. She needs a "big" breaking news story to save her families newspaper.

Wade, a retired rodeo star who disappeared after a devastating and heartbreaking experience, li...more

As the first book in the Big Sky Romance series, A Cowboy’s Touch is the story about a truthseeker who ends up discovering the real truth and a cowboy who learns to let go of his past. Hunter shines as she draws her readers into an intriguing world of boots, chaps and cowboy hats. This heartwarming romance is a story of love, pain and forgiveness. It has also been named a Women of Faith novel for 2011.

Abigail is a reporter who needs time off due to health problems, but she doesn't want to let her story go. Her mother and sister (her doctor) force her to take three months off and go Montana to visit her Aunt Lucy, maker of dolls. Montana holds a lot more for Abigail than her zany Aunt Lucy. Rest and relaxation seem to be the order of the day when she meets Maddy and Wade, but is that true? Maddy is an eleven year old girl whose mother died when she was five. Her father, Wade, is a very good lo...more

I loved this book!!! got the book on Friday and just finished it. I had a real hard time putting it down. The book is about a famous rodeo star (Wade Ryan) hiding on a ranch in Montana (I even love the name of the ranch it is called Moose Creek.) to have peace from fame. He lives with his daughter Maddy and is a widower. The main character Abigail Jones is sent by her mother and boss for three months to check on her dad’s favorite aunt Lucy (who happened to live on the ranch). Her mother really...more

Whenver Denise Hunter releases a new book, I don't even have to read the description to know that it needs to be an addition to my personal collection-she is that great. Her stories have a way of invading your heart to leave a lasting imprint, and A Cowboy's Touch is certainly no exception. This story was entertaining in the best of ways-romantic, humorous, and adventurous-but it has beautifully developed deeper elements as well. The r...more

I am a big Denise Hunter fan - so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw her newest release had come out! I LOVE that her new series takes place in Montana- I'm a sucker for a good "cowboy meets girl" story. ;) I think I swooned a bit over the leading male character, Wade... Beautifully written, extremely touching characters - I almost felt as though I were apart of their gang. I actually found myself yelling at the main character, Abigail, more than once! Without giving away the story, I will sa...more

Abigail Jones is a workaholic. Writing is her life. She is the “truth seeker”, writing to expose corruption and lies. All that overtime work is catching up with Abby though and she finds herself with high blood pressure, headaches and heart palpitations. Her mother and Dr. agree. A three month leave of absence is just the thing Abigail needs to rest her body and mind.

This is a very sweet, tender romance of a well-known writer and a rancher. Abigail is on a mother-ordered sabbatical from work to go to Montana and and check on her Aunt Lucy. She is not too sure what to make of Aunt Lucy when she arrives in the land of the giant sky, especially when Aunt Lucy talks to her dolls as though they are living. One day while helping Aunt Lucy in her shop, a sweet little girl named Maddy walks in crying because someone stole her back. Abby is now on a mission to help t...more

I have been a long-time reader of Denise Hunter’s books and she has become a favorite author of mine. I was looking forward to reading A Cowboy’s Touch because the setting and the characters were different from her previous books. Denise has once again created characters whose chemistry is obvious right from the beginning and who have issues they need to overcome before they can let go enough to love. Maddy was a nice addition to the story and her friendship with Abigail is pure and adds a nice...more

What a great book, the kind you can't or really don't want to put down! Just a very good story about blossoming love, a retired rodeo rider who's lost his wife and moves out of town for anonimity, changes his name and starts a new life with his daughter Maddy. Then comes Abigail who is a writer for a magazine who takes a leave of absence from her job and goes to stay with her aunt for the summer, and winds up being a nanny to Maddy and moves into the house with her and her dad. They get to know...more

This Christian fiction novel was given to me as an ARC in a galley grab. I just love me some galley grab!

This plays out as a romance, but there is a bit of mystery as well. Like I said, it's also Christian fiction.

Abigail has been spending too much time at work and not enough time for herself. When her Aunt Lucy begins displaying possible signs of Alzheimer, her mom and sister send Abigail to Montana to check on her and to get Abigail to take a break from work in order to restore her health. When Abigail arrives, she soon realizes she has stumbled upon the perfect story to save her mother's flailing magazine. What Abigail doesn't realize is that the cowboy, Wade, she is researching is the same one that sh...more

In one scene in A Cowboy’s Touch, Wade called Abigail a name not mentioned earlier in the book, Grace. I found that peculiar since Abigail’s name does not have Grace in it. This peculiarity aside, the grammar and language in A Cowboy’s Touch is faultless. Nevertheless, I felt that something was missing in it. I wish the plot was more entertaining and unique. It was just the usual thing. Maybe it’s because I was looking for a more thrilling story. But there is no harm in this book. Among all the...more

Cowboy stories....I LOVE them! Steamy ones, and good ol' fashioned sweet, clean ones like this. Any book with a hunky cowboy in it is one that will win my heart in a heartbeat! Plus, I LOVE Denise Hunter's work. She has a knack for creating tenderly written stories filled with fun loving characters to keep her readers hooked. And, like with her others, this one hit home.

This sweet story is one of her best yet. It is filled with sweet characters like Abigail and Wade, Abigail's Aunt Lucy-bless he...more

This was a thoroughly enjoyable book, one that I did not want to put down once I started reading it. Being a romance, it's no surprise how the two main characters, Wade and Abby, end up, but the events that unfold along the way were what captured my attention and held it.

Abigail is a likable character, and it was interesting to see the choices she makes when she stood at the crossroad of the two things she loves most. With a guard around his heart, Wade is easily as likable, and his secrets are...more

When I received this book, I thought it was going to be a silly romance novel because of the cover, but I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, it's a romance and it's about a rodeo cowboy. No, it's not silly. It's a story with surprising character depth. I did think the premise was a bit far-fetched with the idea that Abigail could save her family's magazine with one expose. But the characters are likeable and the story is entertaining.

Abigail is truly torn because of a decision she must make, althou...more

I always like to read books in the order the series was written. This being the first; and my daughter recommended these books, I started with this one. I liked the way the story opens but as I read I found myself not liking the main character. How could she be ok with dishonesty and profiting on another's suffering? I didn't really feel like that was fully addressed and that issue alone left me feeling unsatisfied. I'm sure many like the characters and the plot was interesting but I continued t...more
