This was the second book I have read by Ms. Devlin. I loved it even more than the other book I read of hers. I have added the rest of this series 'My Immortal Knights' to my to-be-read book list and once I catch up on the series I will patiently (okay impatiently await for my next fix). I was captivated from the beginning and laughed numerous times while reading. I picked this book up while it was on the amazon free list, (a hell of a bargain for me!) and ended up highlighting several lines on m...more

I actually liked this book. It was my first Delilah Devlin book so I had no expectations apart from steamy sex, since it´s a EC book. I usually don´t like "funny" books so I was pleasantly surprised.
Emma is conned by her so called best friend to attend a Halloween Party at a club. When Emma gets there she is the only one in costume. Emma get´s caught by a bad guy and get´s rescued by the good guy. And, boy, is he yummy.

Emmaline Harris is a woman wanting to break away from the norm(reluctantly). When her best friend convinces her to dress as a sexy vampyre for a Halloween party things seem to go from an bad idea to an even worst idea in a matter of minutes. She is man handled by her friends new beau Nicky. She tells the creep she has an boyfriend and uses her imagination and spins a tale of her dream guy. To her surprise her imagination is real and pulling her from Nicky's clutches. Dylan O'Hara smelled her hum...more
A bit of a disappointing read. I hadn't expected stunning literature, but I had thought it would be fairly decent given that I've read other works by Ms. Devlin and have greatly enjoyed them. Silent Knight, which is a least loosely related to this series I believe, is one of my favorite shorts, and I'd hoped this would be much like it. Instead I found myself shaking my head and rolling my eyes a lot at the often stilted dialog, and situations that resolve themselves far too easily, usually by th...more
First book of Ms. Devlin's My Immortal Knight series...interesting. Ms. Devlin had opted for an imperfect heroine to a perfect vampire-hero--that's really cool. And the H/H's personalities contradicts each other that I had almost not seen the connection the two lust-driven protagonist could have...but they did!

Too much chatty sarcasm. There's a difference between two people joking with each other during sex and everyone having fun and what Delilah did in this book. The sarcasm was misplaced and felt like it was trying to force a connection between the two main characters, as if during their first encounter they knew each other so well they could banter like that. It didn't work and was distracting. Disappointing, because I am a fan of Delilah's and I expected to like it more.
I really do not know how to tag this novelette (100 pages ca). Usually, EC imprints are really out of my comfort zone, not because they are kinky or too explicit. Simply because, with some exception, they are worthless and boring porn. This book was saved by its sheer absurdity that made it "funny". And If you are laughing this hard, you can't really consider it that bad. :) Mind you, it's still porn (no story to talk of), but at least it wasn't boring. :)
This is an Ellora's Cave book so it is definitely on the erotica side.
Emma Harris innocently goes to a vampire club to be with her friend Monica. Only Monica pawns her off on a bad vampire named Nicky. Lucky for Emma that Dylan O'Hara comes to her rescue. It is the first in a series titled My Immortal Knight and the story is continued in the next book. I enjoyed the story line but it is more erotica than I enjoy. This was a free book.

Wow...be prepared to get all hot and bothered while reading this book. It's quite steamy.
I loved that Emmy was a little pudgy and semi-insecure about herself. The story moves pretty quick and the characters are entertaining (especially liked the British/Irish lingo thrown in there).
Good read, although the plot is pretty straight forward and there are zero surprises.

This is a very unfortunate cover. He's got a bucktooth look going on and when I imagine what he sounds like in my head it's a toss up between Bugs Bunny and Sid the Sloth with her oooing and ahhhing over his whispering lisp of how her body looks like a juicy carrot.
The story/dialogue isn't amazing either, but it's good for a laugh, and since it has a comical quality to it so still has value.

Emmy Harris is absolutely a hoot!! Her observations on life, sex, and love are beyond outrageous and such fun to read. And of course, her 186 year old lover doesn't appear too bad, either. Just a very good first book in a series that is great fun with lots of action and wonderful characters to boot.
Fun and sexy, though a bit short and very obviously setting up the series. It reminded me of Private Property in that regard. I didn't mind so much because of the hero's super-sexiness.

A short read but a good one. A little action, a little adventure, and a LOT of sex! First sex scene, I have to say, was probably one of the most awkward sex scenes I have ever read. BUT Devlin made me laugh and kept me interested. Definitely going to have to put book 2 on my TBR list!!
Okay concept. Too much awkward chit-chat during sex. No transitions between most scenes and read as if large portions of the story were savagely sawed off to make novella word count. Minimal chemistry with the couple. In essence, poorly written (and edited) porn.
This was a quick read. Mainly because I skipped half the book, having no interest in the explicit sex scenes. It was a freebie when I got it and I wanted a Halloween read for Halloween, so I picked this one. I doubt i'll read any more in this series.

3 1/2 rounded up to 4 stars due to the sheer comedic value of the dialogue between Emma, our Rubanesque heroine, and Dylan, our Alpha-male vampire with the patience of Job.
The story starts with a Halloween party, so it fits with my October reading theme. Emma is a great character: she tends to exhibit what I call the gumball-machine syndrome - that is, anything idea she tends to think pops straight out of her mouth without mental editing. Thus, she tends to say a lot of things that end up funny...more

My Thoughts: The dialogue during the sex scenes made me cringe, and there were a lot of sex scenes so that didn't help. At one point Emmy and Dylan were joking about vegetables while they were getting it on. o_O Just...ugh. Emmy was more annoying since she's the type of character who runs her mouth so she had some of the worst lines.
