Burn the Night is the final chapter in the Dark Days series and a last chance to say good-bye to Mira, Danaus and the rest of the characters that make up the series. Burn the Night gives readers two different POV's; one from Mira the nightwalker firestarter, and the other from Nyx, a naturi who is as strong, if not stronger than Mira.

The book ties up several loose ends including the naturi, the Daylight Coalition, the Great Awakening, Jabari, Nick, and t...more

Omg, wow.

What an incredible conclusion to such an amazing series.

Cynnia and Nyx are gathering soldiers from any possible allies they have to defend mankind and themselves from the destruction Aurora has planned. They plan to ask Mira and Rowe for help. Burn The Night is the final book in the Dark Days series. While I am sad to see the series end, at least it went out with a bang. Burn The Night starts roughly 4 months after Wait For Dusk ends. Yes, before you even ask Mira and Danaus are still together. We'll get back to that in a little bit. When I first started reading the book I was confused as hell. Burn The Night start's from Nyx's point of view. I know what your thinking, not again, not...more

Wow. What an amazing series this has been. I feel a little lost now that the series is over. The last book of the series deals with all of the things that have been left in the books. We get to see Mira and the hunter at home after returning from the coven. Things don't stop coming for Mira and soon she has more to deal with then she can handle. There are conclusions to the end of this series. We finally find out what happens to Mira's mentor/puppet master. I was happy with this twist and the out...more

Mira is still reeling from the events in the previous books, but has no real time to lick her wounds. The Naturi have split into two factions and a catastrophic war is on the horizon. Mira will have to swallow her pride and then some in order to join forces with the very species she has devoted her life to destroying. At least these Naturi seems to want peace when the war is over, at least for a time. Mira is too smart, or jaded depending on how you look at it to believe otherwise. The Great Awa...more

Wow. I feel like my head's going to explode. There were so many things going on there. I mean, it was enemy after enemy after enemy BEFORE anything got settled. Halfway through the book, Mira had to be on the lookout for so many things, I don't know how she managed it. Being hunted all the time has its advantages, I guess.

We finally meet 'Our Liege' and, like Mira, I felt a little cheated. It certainly was unexpected, but, to me, not at all satisfying. I expected this all powerful dude and all I...more

Jocelynn Drake's Final Dark Days Novel, Burn the Night was extraordinary! The conclusion to the series has finally arrived and while I am saddened for another fave series to end, I am glad it was a good ending!

This time around we have 2 narrators, Mira and Nyx! I totally loved getting info from Nyx's p.o.v. It was very interesting seeing what one of the naturi thought. Being the middle sister between Aurora and Cynnia we get to see what she thinks of everything going on! Rowe also comes back int...more

I loved this series. However, I do have a couple of complaints.

First, throughout the entire series there were numerous spelling and grammar errors. While this didn't ruin the story for me, it was somewhat irritating.

Second, I feel that the last book was rushed. I read a comment (and I can't remember where) that the author posted saying that she did not intend to write any further books in this series and the last book wrapped everything up to provide closure for the reader. I don't agree with...more

I'm going to skip the part where I talk all eloquently about my ideas and go straight to my finals conclusions:

1) Jocelynn Drake's editor is slacking. S/He needs to work on his/her subject-verb agreement, especially. (Though this wasn't the only thing I saw. Just the most recurring one.) For shame. (Insert scowl-y face.)

2) It's never a good thing when you're more interested in the secondary characters' stories than you are in the primary characters' stories. Which I was. I liked Nyx better than...more

I found myself much more engaged in this book than I remembered being in the previous couple. I think a lot of that had to do with there being many less fight scenes and more strategy and plot. That's mostly just a matter of personal preference for me- no matter how well written fight scenes are, I just want them to be over with already. I only want to know who won, who's hurt, who's dead, and where everyone is going. And move on.
I liked the few times going back and forth of POV between Mira an...more

This was the final book in the Dark Days series and it was everything I wanted it to be. Jocelynn Drake has a fantastic way of linking all parts of the paranormal together to converge in a central stream and it's amazing it all works together and flows so beautifully. Mira, the main character who graces all the books basically, has the entire weight of the world on her shoulders (literally) and Drake does a great job of making all the various ideas and plot lines work. I hate spoilers in reviews...more

I really liked this, but I probably would have enjoyed it even more if it hadn't been 2.5 years since I read book 5. This is a very detailed series and world, and I simply couldn't remember many of the prior details or some enemies until getting reminded. For example, I had no idea who Nyx, the first narrator, was for several chapters, and even then I remember her sisters but not her specifically. Mira and Danaus I remembered, no problem.

There was a lot of action in this, which is appropriate si...more

3 1/2 stars - Final book of the Dark Days series. I had high expectations for the final in one of my favorite series and it fell a little short for me. There were several loose ends that needed tied up and we also got a new point of view from the Naturi and after having them as Mira's nemisis for most of the series. We got some insight to Nyx and Rowe from Nyx's POV and even felt a little compassion for their race. (view spoiler)[So in addition to the naturi, Mira also has the ultimate confronta...more

A good conclusion to an excellent urban fantasy/paranormal romance series. This book is the most romantic of the entire series, and for the first time, features the perspective of the not-so-nice Fae (Naturali) that are Mira's enemies, usually. In this book, Mira finally takes on Jabari, meets Our Liege, forms a very unlikely alliance, probably brings about the great awakening, leaves Savannah forever, takes on her dad, and has a much deserved vacation in paradise. The only complaint I have abou...more

this last book in this series was simply amazing ! it was very well detailed kinda jumpy but thats what kept you reading it til the end and details were very vivid I loved that. For a minute there I really thought that Danaus was going to have to find a way to save Mira and it left hanging to where I couldnt put it down edge of seat kinda thing...extremely romanttic at this point and very sad as well, but of course she prevails in the long run and restoring all to where they should be even the g...more

So here we have the last of the Dark Days saga. It's a good way to end the series, despite the fact that it could have been extended one more book. But what can you do.

Everything comes to a head here. The war with the Naturi, the conflict between the sister queens, Jabari, the Liege Lord, even Mira's indomitable father, all over and done with here.

Which isn't too bad, everything is tied up nicely, no loose ends, but dealing with Nick could have been the ultimate final book. I like how he was dea...more

ok overall this was a pretty interesting series. I liked the slow build of relationship between Mira and Danaus, however it just seemed like all the sudden they were just madly i love, no if's, and's or but's. Wasn't really sure about that, but the build up was good getting there.
This book was a great ending to a great series. It closed pretty much everything up at the end nice and tidy, ok not everything was tidy it did leave some places for you to figure it out and let your mind go, but overal...more

When I first started this book, I experienced a moment of panic. After five books, I've become deeply invested in the vampire Mira and I was so excited to finally learn the conclusion of her story. Only, instead of reading Mira's story from her first person narrative, I was getting the perspective of the barely-mentioned side character Nyx. A dozen thoughts flashed through my mind as I realized this. Not the least of which was, "How am I going to get any more love scenes with Mira and Danaus if...more

I thought this was a nice way to end this series, having all the different groups work together. Although at the end when Mira was able to save the Goddess, I started to wonder how they could just leave her mate with the bori?

In my experience when an author involves a sex scene they usually stick to a single term, when it comes to the genitalia. For example, in this book the male genitalia was called 3 different things (d***, c*** and member) all within 2 paragraphs. That seemed kinda strange.

Unbelievable! I was... surprised.
Mira and Danaus face several treats, the Naturi, Jabari, Mira's father, the Daylight coalition, the cage... Am I forgetting someone or something? They have made a pact with the enemy to defeat the enemy in a "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" kind of thing in the final novel of the Dark Days.

If you have read previous books; you know this series is a little repetitive and you can easily guess what is going to happen. Well this book was a pleasant surprise. First...more

I will confess right up front I am not fond of first-person narrative, but I put my prejudice behind me and plowed forward. Also have not read a Urban Fantasy before, or any books by Jocelynn Drake. To say I was lost and not in a good way is an understatement. This is one book of a multi-book series and I was coming in blind. Also the book at the beginning bounces back and forth between two female characters, Nyx and Mira which just stoked my confusion more. This is not a stand-alone book, I ass...more

This is a somewhat difficult review to write. Firstly I loved the series so much so that I was recommending this book left, right and center to readers who enjoy paranormal fantasy, and (Mira)a strong female protagonist with strong powers and (Danaus) a love interest that was just as fascinating and unique as she was. It had all the elements I particularly love in my books which had me through the whole series craving the next one immediately.

I don't know whether the format didn't add to my exp...more

Wow for the final book on Jocelynn Drake series of the Dark Days i very happy with it. you have the big war and the Great awakening.
i think i like the end of the book it has a good end withouth been a end, she can always go back and do another book or something is very posible and it would be cool, she leave the reader wanting a lot more of this character and loving some of those that you just could not love, but the book could not be without it.
Rown and Nyx are a fun new point of view, i like...more

Burn The Night is the sixth and final book in Ms. Drake’s emotionally charged dark urban fantasy series that bled my soul and bruised my heart throughout. Burn The Night is the sixth and last book in the Dark Days series by Jocelynn Drake and follows Mira a Nightwalker and her battle with the Naturi. If you haven’t read the previous books you really need to or this book will not make sense to you. If you haven’t read the earlier books I suggest that you do not read this review as it will contain spoilers.

The opening of the book threw me a little bit as it started from the viewpoint of Nyx the sister of Aurora the Naturi queen, my initial reaction...more

For those of you who haven't read any of the other books from this series I should warn you that this is the final book in the series and therefore is wrapping up a lot of loose ends and story lines. You really should start from the beginning for full enjoyment.

This is quite a dark and gritty series. There's very little in the way of light relief- either in the plot or in the personalities of the characters themsleves- and this is the biggest negative for me. The series features various supernat...more

I had mixed emotions starting this book; I was excited to find out how the series would come to a close and sad that it was ending. Jocelynn Drake did an exceptional job tying up loose ends and bringing Mira's journey to a close. That being said, I'm always gonna wonder how this series would've played out if the sales had been there and she had been able to write another book or two. Was this the ending Drake wanted for the series or was this how she had to resolve all of the issues?

It pains me to see this series end and to give it 4 stars. I have mixed feeling on the events of this book but it's not really issues that go in a review but more a discussion thread. Ms. Drake had a massive number of plot directions to tidy up coming out of the last book. She not only wraps previous storylines but she also throws in a few new twists that I did not see coming. It's these new developments and twist that set Ms. Drake aside as 'one of the best'. Urban Fantasy is a genre that can b...more

The oldest of three kids, Jocelynn grew up and continues to reside in the Cincinnati, Ohio region. She started writing when she was 12, spending all of one summer re-writing the story of Robin Hood in the battered remains of a notebooks. While life has brought many changes and surprises, the love of writing and a good story has been constant. When not writing, she can been found with her nose buri...more
