Taking place in 1351 - the plague has just swept through England, killing or displacing almost everyone, including Katherine's entire family. Katherine - who has been forced to hide away her entire life because of the "devil's mark" on her face. She lives in a secret tower in the castle and gets around using hidden passageways. She and two of the servants in her father's castle were the only lives spared.

Shortly after, Calen the Black, arrives at the castle. It has been given to him by King Edwa
This was a pretty good historical romance. It's short but enjoyable.

Katherine was born with a mark on her cheek and her family hid her away most of her life because some people would see it as a "devil's mark". TBH, I think this was blown out of proportion a bit but it works for the story so what the heck. Her family died from the plague and she stayed hidden in the castle. When Calen comes and takes over the castle she's frustrated and hates him taking over but is also attracted to him. She en

Katherine Wolf had hidden in the walls of the castle, the last of her family, marked at birth with a sign many considered her a witch. She could not leave or, with new inhabitants there, risk discovery in her hidden passages and rooms. Temptation in the form of the new lord would be her downfall. One night, maybe two in his arms and she would have to go or allow him to see the mark of the devil on her skin.

Calen the Black had gone to Warg castle to claim new ownership, his prize for his devotion

This book could be an epic tale. Instead it is a nice short. I really hope that at some point in the future the author will review and expand the book to the epic tale it could be.

Both our leads have interesting childhoods - hers is contrasting mix of loved by family but hidden away for her protection (???) due to her 'mark of the devil' and his mother was a seer who believed in things like hygiene! Both have interesting recent pasts. Katherine had to survive the plague

Recomendable
A very quick and delightfully sinful read. A gorgeous medieval warrior and a damaged, but beautiful female make a heart-pounding pair. The story is short, so it doesn't delve very deeply and events speed along quickly. However, it was fun and satisfying!

A sweet romance that doesn't take too long to read---good for a cuddle up evening with a cup of cocoa.
