I am certain I did a review of this book when I read it, because I loved it!
Its different than the BDB, but the same. Son, (Micheal) Has been imprisoned by his mother, in her basement all his life. His mother allows him one feeding a year, and manages to suck some poor girl in as bait. This time its her lawyer. Claire is forced into the basement along with Son, who she soon starts conversing with and learns about his upbringing. Feelings emerge, and a relationship is born. But Mother is in contro...more

Compared with her absolutely addictive 'Black Dagger Brotherhood' series, 'The Story Of Son' it's only a small teaser ... something like a soft version of Doc Jane meets Zsadist. That for I would only rate with 4 stars, BUT it's also a total page turner and you read those 137 pages (in the German version) at once.
There is only one little disturbing thing: If in that novella the same rules for vampires are valid like in the BDB, then she leaves quite some unanswered questions! Maybe, hopefully t...more

I picked up a sale copy of this book as I am always looking for ways to get in more language practice.
I managed to read the whole thing without having to resort to the dictionary, so I was happy with that.
As to the story itself, this was an okay novella. The plot was interesting and caught my attention and I didn't mind the characters, even though their 'love' felt a bit forced and unnaturally fast to me. My main gripe, though, was the ending, which seemed a little abrupt, the 'bad' guy' defeate...more

This was a quick read. Little sidenote: We got this story as an extra published short novella in Germany. :)
Anyways, since there is no real English blurb I’ll just summarize what it is about: A vampire, who’s been kept in a chamber by his mother, who never got a real name and who’s pretty much like all the men J.R. Ward creates meets Jane. Except she’s a lawyer and called Claire.
It was just a repitition of the other books, maybe a little best-off in novella form. The normal, human...more

I absolutely love this story...I've read it multiple times and I never get tire of it. This was the first J.R. Ward piece I I've read, it captivated me and sucked me into Wad's BDB world. I keep wishing "Son/Michael" could appear in one of the BDB books and become a Brother!!!! This story is so passionate, intense strong and sweet...I wish it was longer.
It's a must for all Black Dagger series fans and I admit I'm addicted of J. R. Ward's books. It's a short story and I read the book in only one evening. The story was a little bit predictable but I enjoyed it anyway. I look forward for November when the next book will come out in German from J.R. Ward.
This is the German version of "The Story of Son" by J.R. Ward from the Dead After Dark antology.
