Fantastic book. A bit slow in after the first few chapters, but turned out to be a wonderful piece of great writing, fantastic characters, exciting plot and all the things that makes a good book: crime, drama, love, excitement, happiness, grief and mystery. The best part was the ending, because it didn't turn out the way I had excpected at the beginning. A must read for eveyone who loves a good historical novel.

A historical story from Spain from the 17th century. There is a secret duty among a family for making the solution for the question: does Sevilla belong to the Christians or the Muslims.
The main theme seems to be a bit lost while the story flows from generation to an other. In spite of it you are hooked with the charming story. Luckily in the end you'll get the main stream and many mysterious things that had happened before get their explanations.

Nice story with some chess and history woven into it. Though sometimes a bit weary and the plot was predictable.

This book could have been cut down by a generation (or 200p) without loosing much. I really liked the first half and wanted to learn how it ended - but darn 2nd half has slow.

God historie. Gentagelserne og det uopfindsomme sprog trækker ned.
