Whisper of a Witch is the face paced stunning Savannah coven series by Suza Kates that is written with delicate humour and the intensity I have not encountered until now.

I was completely blown away by the secrets of the characters, the many different and entirely captivating characters in this book are in my opinion what makes the books storyline come to life through every turn of the page. At times while reading I found myself breathlessly turning the pages wanting and intrigued beyond imagina...more

This book has a lot of characters which are all basically introduced in the first few pages of the book which made it difficult to keep all of the straight until at least halfway through. The characters are somewhat interesting although there's a lot of typecasting and for some reason everyone is gorgeous. There quite a few cliches sprinkled all over the place for the way magic works and feels at times a hodgepodge of a lot of different myths. Also, there are random descriptions that felt like t...more

I was totally unfamiliar with Suza Kates and her books until I got this book (Whisper of a Witch) as a free promotion from Pixel of Ink for Kindle through Amazon. I love anything to do with witches, and I was immediately hooked. I bought her other two books of the Savannah Witches' Coven for my Kindle and simply flew through them. The one that particularly spoke to me was the second in the series,Conviction of a Witch. I won't give the story away...only that the witch in question was also a Chri...more

Romance. Prophecy. Sisterhood.

Darkness has returned. Amidst the haunting and rich southern background of Savannah, Suza Kates introduces us to nine women drawn together by a three hundred-year-old prophecy.

Shauni Miller, a biologist with a distinct gift, is mysteriously summoned to an island off the coast of Savannah. Here, she meets Dr. Michael Black and eight other women with gifts of their own, as they discover their true paths and accept their destinies. Only together can they fulfill the pr...more

Imagine you are one of eight women who felt a call to travel to Savannah, GA and when you arrive you discover you are a witch…a witch who will work to prevent a demon from being called into the world. Shauni Miller is a biologist; she is the non-violent, peace loving, vegetarian daughter of hippies who has the ability to communicate with animals. Shauni is the first of the witches to meet the challenge set before the group. She meets veterinarian Michael Black and finds him extremely attractive...more

This is my second win from First Reads.

Whisper of a Witch is a pretty refreshing read from the kind of paranormal romance books I usually pick up. Rather than starting off with a bunch of hunks swaggering about flexing their muscles and killing things (which I do like, by the way), Suza begins by introducing a group of females.

Reading about nine women coming together and forming a coven was enjoyable and some parts were quite humorous. I was glad they didn't spend too much time chanting spells o...more

Whisper of a Witch is the first novel in the new Savannah Coven series by Suza Kates. I won Whisper of a Witch from goodreads and am so glad that I did!
Shauni Miller has a secret that she has shared with very few people. She feels a pull towards Savannah Georgia where she meets Dr. Michael Black, a vet in Savannah. Also in Savannah are others waiting to meet Shauni and get to know her, they too have their own secrets. Working with these people will test Shauni in ways that she never imagined not...more

As the tag line in my blog header notes, “I don't just read a book; I "crawl" right into one. I read, I devour, and I consume every last word until the story is running like a movie through my brain!” and with Whisper of a Witch , Suza Kates will have many a reader devouring every last page! Her use of setting is extraordinary to the point where readers will actually feel like they are there; that they are seeing Savannah through the characters eyes!

For some, being able to picture the setting of...more

WHISPER OF A WITCH to start this book really brings to mind another book Dark Nights, Dark Dreams: Sisterhood of the Sight, they are very, very similar. Whisper of a Witch is about nine witches who have been destined to come together. The girls did not know each other, most of them didn't even know they were witches. Each has their own specific powers and each has to pass a test to stop a Demon called Bastraal. I liked the character's, heck I even liked the animals. The story was good but I felt...more

*squee* I may have just found a new favorite series! Whisper Of A Witch is the first book in the Savannah Coven Series. (I gather that there will be 8 more...Happy Dance!)

This first book really hooked me as it introduced me to the coven and Shauni. (She's the main character in Book 1.) I love how Suza made each of these characters so different and interesting. She really opened up the way for a great series!

I simply adored this book and personally found it to be different and refreshing. If your...more

bought this book blindly as it was recommended at the end of another book I finished. It turned out to be an entertaining find!

The premise is pretty unique. It starts with 8 women being drawn to Savannah and finding out shocking news about themselves. The stories core is about a coven of 9 witches, but each book centers on a different witch from the coven. The formula for the story itself is pretty standard for paranormal romance, but the characters and the overall story plot will keep it entert...more

When I first began reading the book I was a little confused with all the characters that were introduced, but as I continued to read, they were sorted out fairly well - though here and there still had to rethink about who was who. I liked that the main focus of the book eventually revolved around only one of the witches, Shauni. I enjoyed reading about her relization of being a witch, facing what she was up against (evil) and working through it. I am really looking forward to reading the next bo...more

Admittedly, as I write this review, I’ve already read all of them. I read them quickly. I loved them. Obviously, this being the first in the series, there was a great deal of set up to be done, and I think it was well done. At the beginning of the book, you are introduced to each witch (and their seemingly matching cats) being drawn away from their normal lives by an unknown source that they know they need to follow. Although just saying this, it may seem far fetched, but they’ve all always know...more

I won a copy of book 2 in this series from Good Reads and decided to track down a copy of book 1 to read first.

Whisper of the Witch is the first book in Suza Kates developing Savannah Coven Series.

Early in the story we are introduced to nine very different young women. Eight of whom are drawn to drop everything in their lives to join the ninth at an amazing island home near Savannah, Georgia. All the women are witches and all will we be tested before the coven faces an imminent confrontation wit...more

I won this book in a first-reads giveaway, and I'm really glad that I did otherwise I wouldn't have known about how fantastic it was!

The book begins with a prologue that introduces a whole bunch of women all seemingly heading to the same place. It was a bit confusing to be bombarded with all this information first thing, but it's only a quick introduction, so it's not that bad really. Anyway, after that the story begins properly. We meet Shauni, who has the ability of communicating with animals...more

During the first few pages of this book my thoughts were a little confused. There were so many characters brought into the picture all at once that I half convinced myself that I'd never remember who was who. In actual fact, the author was very clever in this respect and it didn't take long at all to feel I knew each and every one of them.

The story is about nine witches who have always been destined to come together. The girls didn't know each other before they felt the calling. Most of them did...more

Whisper of a Witch is a tale woven in magic, enchantment, sisterhood and romance. It sparks imagination and is mystifying from the start. I love the prologue's introduction to many of the characters in the book. I was entranced by the different personalities and walks of life the characters came from. Suza does a fantastic job of character story telling, development and combining the characters into an easily understandable meld. This is some of the best character choreographing I have read.

I started this book because I have been on a witch/supernatural kick lately and wanted to find a book in that vein with a little different twist, (and more books in the series in case I liked it). Turns out that I did like it- I liked Shauni as a character and liked the idealism of the story, even if the plot didn't have very many twists.

I completely fell in love with the main character, Shauni Miller and all of the other characters. This is one of those stories that made me ready to move straight to the next in the series. I loved the relationship between Shauni and her coven members. I also became completely infatuated with the love affair between Shauni and Michael.

ha. having great fun with this Savannah Series. Really bummed I have to wait for 2 more books. NOT the most educated, well written books ever. nah. But super fun if you are able to suspend reality and play with the authors visions. Very fast, kinda chic-ish witchy love stories. Great for a simple rainy day zoom zoom.

The book starts out with a lot of characters and you learn a little about each one in the beginning with the focus being on Shauni. As the book goes along you learn more and more about each character, but you know that this is Shauni's story. I liked the friendship that she shares with her coven, the love story that develops with Michael and how the secrets unfold with each character. With so many women in the coven and the different personalities of each, there are so many ways to go with the s...more

If you like paranormal romance/chicklit where all the women are impossibly beautiful, intelligent and sexy and bond over pretty clothes, scented candles and magik ceremonies, where the sex is cliche, the romance clunky and there is excessive use of of adjectives and adverbs, then you'll love this book.
I don't so I didn't.

This series is a fun adult series about modern day witches. If you like supernatural reads this is a fun and romantic series. I'm not big on the romance part but it holds your interest throught.

This book was an easy read. Enjoyed the setting, the characters and the activities. This is the first in a series. Hope the next book is out now as stated. The power of 3 and 9 with cats and a great male.

Book definitly serves as the intro to the rest of the series. Wasn't really gripped by it, but could see great potential. Will stick with the next ones.

girl porn masked as a supernatural tale. not awesome but since it is a series and I kind of like the story line. ..I will keep reading. but it was a little too much for me and not well written.
Tricia
Great start to a series. I'm looking forward to reading more and finding out what's in store for the other members of the coven.
Amy
I couldn't put it down and even though it was the middle of the night, I bought the next two! Great opening book for a series!

So many characters to keep straight with the 9 in the coven. I enjoyed the book, but know if i read the second one, I will be more familiar with the characters and their special talents.

I can’t remember a time when I didn’t love books, but two particular memories stay with me. As a young girl I picked up Little Women, read it straight through, and promptly turned to page one to start all over again. The next book I did that with was Mind Hunter by John Douglas, tales about profiling serial killers.

Thus a twisted romantic was born.

Throughout my teenage and young adult years, I rea...more
