Wow! If I could give this book 6 stars, I would! I fell in love with the men of Nightshade in the first book of this series and I was really looking forward to reading about the hunky cowboy's, Colton Neely, story. This book did not disappoint at all. It was everything I thought it would be and more. Action, suspense, drama, romance. I loved, loved, loved it.

In the first book, Colton seems to have everything in control, as he helps Max overcome his anger and PTSD. However, within the first few...more

Ronie Kendig's debut novel Dead Reckoning set the bar high, Nightshade popped over the top and Digitalis clears it with air to spare! Ronie Kendig has stamped herself as the premier author of romantic thrillers in Christian writing today. Digitalis, the sequel to the brilliant Nightshade, is nothing short of a cinematic experience in written form. With the relentless action of The Bourne Identity, the electrifying chemistry of Speed and the emotional punch of A Few Good Men, Digitalis is a stoma...more

While delivering an astounding high energy, nail-biting suspense story, Ronie Kendig has mastered the art of having the story’s message pierce your heart and her quirky endearing characters feel like family. I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to read the review copy I received, which is the second book in the "Discarded Heroes" series. I’ve read all of Ronie Kendig’s book so far and think Digitals is her best work yet.

This author masterfully weaves the right amount of action, adventure and romance...more

What he does know is that Piper’s secrets can’t possibly be worse than his own—-a belief which keeps him from deepening their relationship. If Colton’s life would just slow down for a day or so, he might be able to figure it all out. Inst...more

Reading any of Ronie Kendig's books is like watching the latest action-adventure blockbuster. I feel like they should come with the standard warning they give you when you get on a roller-coaster: "Keep your arms and legs inside the car at all times and keep your seat-belt securely fastened." lol This author knows how to write an exciting book!

Piper and Cowboy are very sweet together. I liked both of them very much and the way they cared about one another and the problems that caused was ... dif...more

Are you an adventurer? Love our military and honor their extreme sacrifice? Want to read a book that will get your heart pumping, both from the excitement and the romance? Then this is the book for you. I loved Nightshade, but Digitalis was outstanding. Ms. Kendig has now become the queen of military romantic suspense. Love the characters! I felt their pain, their anguish, their fear, their joy.. their love. I adored "Cowboy". He and his fellow special-ops crew make me believe in heroes again. I...more

Just when I thought Ronie Kendig’s books couldn’t get any better, she wows me once more. In Digitalis, the second book of her Discarded Heroes Series, Kendig offers a story full of suspense, love, and faith. Though faith is an integral part of her stories and characters, I never feel preached at. Saying they have faith is like saying they have brown eyes. It’s a part of who they are. Kendig is the Karen Kingsbury of Christian Suspense.

In a world where loving Israel is so unpopular, it is refresh...more

Another great book in the Discarded Heroes series. Digitalis takes a look into Colton Neeley's life, a former Marine -- MARSOC -- and now the foundation of a secret Black Ops group known as Nightshade.

While it was packed with even more action, intensity, and adventure compared to the first book in the series, parts of the book felt missing, so to speak, but that's hardly a reason to not read this.

While Digitalis is the 2nd book in a series, you could read it as a stand alone. Like Book 1, this is a fast paced, action packed ride! Kendig really helped you to feel for Colton and his struggles, they seemed very real and added depth to the story. I enjoyed the suspense, the action, and characters.

However, this one just didn't sync with me like Book1 did for a few reasons. The romance between the two main characters didn't feel as flushed out and seemed too rushed. And there were...more

He's a sniper and a rancher. With call sign Cowboy, Colton Neeley is part of a special, non-existent black ops team, Nightshade. He has a problem though, he frequently has flashbacks that take him away from the present and endanger those around him.

Piper Blum is a sales clerk who attracts the attention of Colton. But Colton feels that she is not who she seems, or is she? Why does she avoid his attentions and what is it about her that draws him?

Piper has a secret, one that means the life of someo...more

Break out the digitalis because you are going to need it after reading this book! It's everything I love about suspense, Christian fiction and romance all rolled into one. From the first page it's non-stop action, thrills and sweet romance! Usually in suspense there's a gradual rise in tension until it all explodes, not so here. It starts out with war flashbacks of a suicide bombing and ends with a nuclear showdown in Israel! Digitalis is all action and it's so fast-paced your head will spin, an...more

Ronie Kendig never ceases to amaze me. "Rapid-Fire Fiction" describes her awesome books to a tee! Each time I pick up a book by her, I know I am in for a wild adventure. Within minutes, I’m completely sucked into the characters and their situations. By the time it comes to a heart pounding ending, I’m dying for more! Digitalis was A-MAZ-ING!! Totally. Her entire Discarded Hero series is completely awesome and one that will remain proudly on my favorites bookshelf for forever! After reading all t...more

"Digitalis" is a fast-paced romantic suspense novel. The suspense was created by the near-constant physical danger and some relationship angst. This book was the second in the series, but you don't have to read "Nightshade" to follow this story. Reading them out of order will spoil only the romantic outcome of the first novel.

I suspect a lot of people will really like this novel, but I didn't. In "Nightshade," Colton seemed like a really cool character who had a lot of potential for a deep story...more

If you like fast paced, edge of your seat action, you’ll love this book. If you like romance, you’ll love this book. If you’re a fan of suspense and intrigue, you’ll love ... well, can you see where I’m going with this?

Digitalis by Ronie Kendig is book #2 in the Discarded Heroes series. The series centers around Nightshade (which also happens to be the name of the first book). Nightshade is an elite black ops team of highly trained soldiers who secretly “intervene in hot spots no nation or gover...more

Ronie Kendig, in her new book, "Digitalis" Book Two in the Discarded Heroes series published by Barbour Publishing takes us on another thrilling adventure with the Nightshade team.

I said in the previous review that my all time favorite TV show is Mission: Impossible. Every week this elite team of spies would go and do the impossible in insanely short periods of time. Well "Mission" is back, sorta, in this new series, Discarded Heroes, because they are an elite team, called "Nightshade". This tim...more

The second novel in the Discarded Heroes series, Digitalis packs even more action, adventure, and intensity than Nightshade.

Digitalis, written by Ronie Kendig, is the second book in the Discarded Heroes series. Each book in the series revolves around a different character who has served time in the military, seen action in various conflicts around the globe, and returned home, worn out, damaged in some way, and unappreciated for the service that they have given for our country and its people. Each of the discarded heroes are recruited to serve as members of a very secret black ops group named Nightshade.

DIGITALIS, the second installment in the Discarded Heroes Series, keep me on the edge of my seat, book firmly in hand.

Colton Neeley, aka Cowboy, aka Digitalis is part of an elite task force. Suffering from PTSD, he continues to question if he has the faculties to continue on or if his debilitating flashbacks puts the rest of his team in peril. With a daughter to raise, he thinks long and hard regarding his future. Lately, he also finds himself thinking of Piper Blum, a sales clerk at a local st...more

I’ve become a fan of romantic suspense. What can I say? There’s something about the danger and a man of honor willing to lay it all on the line for his team, his country and the people he loves. This series looks at a group of men assembled for black-ops. Undercover international operatives that are not acknowledged by the government but go in and do the dirty work no one else wants to. The name of this team is Nightshade (also title of the first book) and is made up of men with dark pasts who h...more

Wow! When you pick up this book to read (because everyone should!) you'd better settle in because you won't be able to put it down! Ronie Kendig has a way of grabbing her readers from the prologue and holding them prisoner until the last word is spoken!

I am surprised I let this one sit as long as I did, but then again, I am a student now and don't have much time for pleasure reading. Nothing like a beautiful Saturday and the flu to give you time to read!

I'm a bit of a sucker for a man in a cow...more

Colton Neely has been visiting the same Hastings store for nearly eight months, but it’s not for the towels he buys there for his mother. He’s met Piper Blum, and thinks he may want to ask her out on a date sometime soon. The only thing stopping him is that he fears he’ll have one of his attacks around her and doesn’t know how he could handle not being able to tell her what he does for a living. And fading into his nightmares is happening again though he can’t understand why and only hopes he wo...more

“One shot. One kill.” This is the sniper’s motto that Colton “Cowboy” Neeley considers when he’s working on a mission. Digitalis is Colton’s story. The book opens with Colton enjoying himself at a family barbeque when he’s overwhelmed with a powerful flashback that puts himself and his family in danger. That’s when he gets the invitation to get the help he needs and to join Nightshade. Colton is a believer and he’s desperate to be whole again, time and prayer so far have not eased his instabilit...more

Man!

No really…what a man!

I am not a thriller reader. I like suspense and will watch the occasional Law and Order LA, but I am not a thriller reader.

DIGITALIS and Ronie Kendig have made me a thriller reader.

I think what made this book so appealing is the romance. Let’s be honest here, Colton “Cowboy” is one hunky hero. Right. Off. The. Bat. This book got going. I thought maybe at first it was moving “too” fast, but quickly changed my mind. Piper and Colton’s romance smolders just below the surfa...more

Why did I wait so long to read this book? It was sitting on my bookshelf for over a year and then I finally grabbed it 3 days ago. I was very busy those last 3 days and that's not the best time to grab a Ronie Kendig book. You have to read Ronie's books in one sitting, but I had to do it in 3. When I wasn't reading I was thinking about how the story would continue. There was not one moment that the story was slow or not interesting.

I really felt for our sniper Cowboy--Colton Neeley. He has to li...more

I just finished Digitalis. Loved it. And you cannot help but fall in madly in love with Colton "Cowboy" Neeley. He is every woman's Prince Charming/ White Knight. He is gorgeous, caring, loving and giving. Oh only if there were real men like Colton, we all would be happily married. The man loves his, family, friends and country. And Piper is beautiful, at how she understands him, to give up her country and her father to marry him and come to America to be his wife.
It is sad the Mr Neeley died in...more

After twenty-plus years of marriage, she and her husband have a full life with four children and two dogs. Ronie’s degree in psychology has helped her pen novels of raw, broken characters.
