Bennie Rosato's life is a mess. Not only has she won a case only to find out the client cant pay her after declaring bankrupcy but now she has other things to worry about. With her law firm going financially down the tube, unable to pay the mortgage and now she has to contend with someone from her not so distant past her twin sister. Just when it looks like things are picking up when French bussiness man Robert St Amien goes to her firm asking to represent him in a class action that could bring

This is another in Lisa Scottoline’s series of novels about the members of the all-women Rosato & Associates law firm in Philadelphia, with thus one being about Bennie (Bernadetta) Rosato, herself, but sprinkled with the other characters we have come to know and love: the model-lovely Anne Murphy (the newest associate in the firm), post-teenager Mary (Maria) DeNunzio (who in this novel brings in a new client, the Circolo, a loose band of American Italians still smoldering about the internment of

I do enjoy the way Scottoline uses her filly Philly lawyers as an ensemble cast. This particular book focuses on Bennie Rosato.
All Scottoline heroines are good-looking, but either tall or short (never middling). Bennie is in the tall group.
Most telling moment - confrontation where Bennie faces two guns - one held by her disgruntled twin, the other by a client's murderer (who happens to also be brother to the murdered client). Tho the scenario might be far-fetched, i liked how More...

Entertaining Outing featuring Bennie & her evil twin...
We might have rated this newest in the fine Bennie Rosata Law Firm series from Lisa Scottoline all the way to five stars but for two factors. First, her evil twin is back from "Mistaken Identity", and all the havoc she wreaks seems to have little or nothing to do with the main plot, thus serving as a frequently irritating distraction. Second, the primary story line is about Bennie fighting to take lead on a class a More...

I take my time between Lisa Scottoline's books so I can savor them one at a time and anticipate the next one in a few months.
I enjoyed my time with DEAD RINGER, it was like being with old friends, Bennie, Mary, Anne, Judy (she of the pink hair). Each has a great, funny, smart, individual personality that works well in their all female law office.
Bennie is having a heckuva week. Her lease payments are way past due, new business is slow, her twin sister has decided this is a good tim More...

After reading a Scottoline for one of my book clubs, I realized that 1. I wanted to get to know the other characters in the book (who are in her other books, to certain degrees), 2. they go quickly, and 3. they are a good break from either heavy reading, heavy life, or boring nonfiction. So I took a picture of the "other books by this author" page, and periodically just request the next couple of books in order from the library. This one came available at a good time. It was Memo

It's been a long time since I have read a book that I enjoyed so little. It wasn't the worst book I've ever read, and I was going to give it 2 stars, but then I noticed that Goodreads defines 2 stars as "it was ok" so I couldn't say that--because it wasn't. It was drudgery to force myself to finish it, but I can give it one compliment--it was blessedly short. I was glad I finished it while the night was young, so I could move onto another book so that my Friday wasn't totally wasted.

I read Scottoline's 2009 book, LONG LOST, and was so impressed, I now want to go back and read her others. I began going back with DEAD RINGER (2003). Again, I found that Scottoline, unlike most other authors of thrillers, truly does write a thrilling thriller. I had such a hard time putting it down, I fell asleep reading so lost my place every night.

I really enjoyed Dead Ringer by Lisa Scottoline. I haven't read the Rosato & Associates series in order but I don't feel you need to. There are some details that are a little confusing if you don't, but it's not going to make or break the story if you haven't read the books in order; which I like immensely about these books.
I love how every book I've read by Scottoline, I never even think of the perp being who it is. This book surely didn't disappoint. I didn't realize or have the sl More...

It was a fun read - as usual, Scottoline's characters are interesting, engaging, and mostly downright delightful. However, I thought she moved into caricature of Mrs. DiNunzio, and I think Mrs. D deserves better. Also, some of the plot points didn't make a ton of sense - the way Bennie discovered the murderer's identity was pretty weak. And there were a lot of red herrings that didn't go anywhere and were just left hanging, not resolved in any way. But I enjoyed the book. It was a fun read.

I picked this up after hearing Lisa Scottoline talk at the National Book Festival. She was highly entertaining (thinks pantyhose is the cruelest invention ever) and had great stories about her life, which is where her books come from.
This book is one of many dealing with a law firm of women in Philly, called Rosato and Associates. The main character in this one is Bennie who owns the law firm, lives with her beloved Golden Retriever, and hates the aforementioned pantyhose.

I liked Daddy's girl so much that I am reading a lot of Lisa Scottoline. Daddy's Girl is still my favorite, probably because the main character is a teacher (law professor). All of Lisa's (yes, we're on a first name basis) protagonists are women in the law field. They are all struggling in the beginning but heroic in the end. And they have good senses of humor. Good plots, good banter, and the good guy always wins.

I like to listen to audio books while quilting or cooking and I really enjoyed this one. Not life changing literature, but a good story about Bennie Rosato's all-female law firm. An engaging plot concerning Bennie's identical twin and of course, a murder. The reader, Barbara Rosenblat, is excellent. I think I enjoyed listening even more than I would have reading this book.

This is another solid mystery from Scottoline. My only complaint is that it took a long time to build up to the ending, which wrapped itself up in just a few chapters. I enjoyed reading more about Bennie and her twin. I feel like I need to read all of the books about Bennie's law firm. I enjoyed seeing how all of the characters developed from the last one I read, Mistaken Identity.

Language! Scottoline writes great stories but the language leaves a lot to be desired. This is one of her Bennie Rosato stories. Bennie has a twin sister - the evil twin sister - and she is causing lots of problems trying to take away everything Bennie cares about. And at the same time Bennie is fighting to keep her firm going under.

I had read an earlier Scottoline, where Bennie defends her previously unknown twin on a murder rap. It was a good story, well written with interesting characters, so I was pleasantly surprised to realize that this was sort of a sequel to that. Again, good characters., succinct writing, good plot line. I'll read her again.

Book on CD - The publisher was asleep or drunk or both. This is the worst piece of sh.t I have ever listened to. For a female Lawyer to write a book about idiotic female bimbo lawyers is not good for women in law or anywhere else for that matter. I hope Ms. Scottolini is a better lawyer than she is writer. Bah humbug!!!!

This was my first Rosato book, and I listened to it on CD in the car. Barbara Rosenblatt annoys me, but I still enjoyed the book. It wasn't the best mystery I've ever read (or listened to), but it was entertaining enough. The ending was too pat for me, with every darned thing working out. In series I like a few more loose ends so it will keep me coming back for more.

The eighth installment of Rosato & Associates and another hit for Scottoline. This is actually the second book I read of hers after reading Mistaken Identity and I am now completely hooked on Lisa Scottoline. I really liked this one as well and got through it pretty quick because I did not want to put it down.

Her descriptions were vivid and often amusing and the plot lent itself to self-parodie but I felt she stayed true to the intention. However, I thought the reveal of the murderer was rather sudden and abrupt with little or no build up of tension on that point. It was almost a by product of another tension filled part of the story. It felt like the author had suddenly remembered that she had not yet revealed the murderer and rushed to get it over with. All in all, a good book with funny legal c

I loved this book. It kept me guessing, then second-guessing, who the killer was until the end. I haven't read many mysteries lately that haven't been predictable, so this was very welcome. I'll definitely be reading (or listening to) more Scottoline.

Good story with a subplot of an evil twin. Bennie Rosato is the owner of a law firm whose main client is murdered. Bennie has three associates at her law firm all of which have their own book in this series. I will be on the look out for them.

I really liked nearly all of this book. I found it riveting, so 4 stars for that. However, the pivotal moment struck me as too coincidental and staged. Just didn't fly for me and that disappointed after so fine a read.

Good suspense, nice character development throughout, complex plot. And even a bit topical--takes place in about 2002, after the dot com bust, and economic woes are on everyone's mind and affecting the legal world.

Benny is a strong woman and her everyday life is turned around because of her identical twin--Alice. Who can she trust when Alice is pulling the strings and putting her life and others on the line?
Suspenseful legal thriller--without a lot of legal considering she runs a law firm--that keeps you guessing and turning the pages.

Way to much language! I started, liked the story line, but had to put it down about 75 pages into it. If language doesn't bother you, then it seems like a good story lie, but not for me.

I'm being generous with the 3 stars. There's no way a female law firm would act so airheaded in meetings--that part irritated me some. I thought a lot of the characters needed more depth.
