Well I read this story around the same time I read "Harrie the spy", because it was a 2 stories in 1 book. My mum read this book to me when I was younger and then I read by myself a bit later, but this book had a big influence on me and I loved the whole idea of Harriet's "Spy routes" and it inspired me to start writing my own journal, which I continue to do until this day. Now I can't remember to much about this book, as I was quite young but I do remember that I really en

I'm shocked but I really liked 'Harriet Spies Again.' Shocked because it's an ersatz 'Harriet' created in 2002, nearly 40 years after the original and over 30 years after Louise Fitzhugh's death. A student of mine had to pick a 'classic' to read, defined as being over 25 years old and still in print, and this somehow slipped under the wire. I was prepared for disappointment, but Helen Ericson really captures the spirit and flavor of 'Harriet the Spy," and produces a work just as charming

With the approval of Louise Fitzhugh's (author of "Harriet the Spy") estate, Ericson revisits the life of Harriet M. Welsch and the executors' trust was well placed. An author's note reports that Ericson became a fan when this self-styled young spy first appeared in 1964, and her affection for the feisty character comes through in this new misadventure.

I'm amazed that an author can pick up another author's story and continue it so well. I really liked the new character added, and, while I saw a lot of the twists coming, they were still fun to read. My only complaint about this book is that I wasn't sure what year it was. At times I thought it was still the 1960s, but other times it seemed to be at least 20 years later. I think that's an effect of what this new author was trying to do and it didn't really take away from the story, but it did di

I read Harriet the Spy when I was young, and so enjoyed it that I've read it again and again through the years. I guess Harriet kinds of reminds me of the kind of little girl I would like to have been...totally independent and brassy! She is such a fun little tomboy to follow in her exploits with her friends and as she "spies" on neighbors nearby as she documents in great detail in her "notebooks" her perspective of each of their lives.

One of my students said I reminded her of Harriet the Spy, so I thought, ah what the heck. Cute story-- it's a 4th grade reading level but with REALLY impressive vocabulary. If I were still teaching elementary school, I would include this in my curriculum!

Fun, enjoyable, and not quite the same. I can understand why it won an Edgar for kid's lit, but I really missed the stories from Harriet's spy route and wanted to hear more about what she had discovered on her own.
At least she hadn't outgrown tomato sandwiches!
I did enjoy Harriet's foray into religion and the comments from Cook at Thanksgiving about having a "normal" life.
On to Sport and The Long Secret!

Still a good book, but I didn't like the style of this new author as much as the original author.

I truly enjoyed this one. I liked it better than the first one. I didn't want it to end, it was so fun

I enjoyed this continuation of "Harriet the Spy" with the familiar characters from that book and other books by Louise Fitzhugh (this new book is by Helen Erickson). A new character, "Annie" (she uses different aliases), is introduced and presumably further developed in a subsequent book. The character of Harriet is the same, but the book feels different, maybe because it's written by another author (or maybe because I am an adult now, not a child).

I was so excited to see a sequel to Harriet the Spy that I grabbed the book off the shelf without reading the name of the author. Big mistake. I don't know what this lady thinks she's doing, but apparently she's taking a crap on my childhood. I feel like an idiot, getting really mad about a children's book, but I'm pretty sure I'm justified in my OUTRAGE.

This book is about Harriet spying on her nanny Ole Golly when she returns after being married. Harriet wonders why she has returned without her husband, so she decides to get more information on this mystery. Unexpectedly, everything she has thought, is turned around in a huge surprise.

Quite good. Better than I expected. Hard to take a classic like this and make a sequel. Harriet is nicer, softer more mature than in the first novel. A very enjoyable read.

I loved this series growing up. I haven't seen the movie, didn't really want to in case they ruined my perception of Harriet and Sport!
