In Not Another New Year's, Christie Ridgway has created an enjoyable story, that is basically a two-for-one romance, with a likable cast of flawed characters. Tanner Hart and Hannah Davis, the primary hero and heroine of the story are basically two ordinary people who unfortunately had some unusual things happen to them. They are basically two peas in a pod with a great deal in common. Both have put high expectations on themselves due in part to family dynamics. Af

Not Another New Year's by Christie Ridgway (suggested by a good friend who adores contemporary romances)

Even though I'm not a big fan of contemporary romances, this week it was fun to read New Year's-based stories, and Not Another New Year's was steamy enough to satisfy all. Hannah has gone to Coronado to confront the woman her fiancé dumped her for when she decides to throw caution to the wind and have a one-night stand with a very hot stranger. Things get complicated when a hysterica

Wow, are there ever a lot of sex scenes in this book. Like, a lot.
The blurb basically tells all, no need to rehash here. Typical rom-com chick lit, girl meets guy, falls in love, so does he, everyone is happy. Lots of stuff in between, but those are the bare bones. I was more interested in Desiree and Troy than in Hannah and Tanner, to be honest. Their (finally!) hook up was a bit over the top, though. "Come on girl, climb on" was basically Troy's winning line to Desiree, and after all the bull

This book is not what I expected. It not only follows the relationship between Tanner and Hannah, but also Tanner's brother Troy and Dez. Having both story lines play out kept it interesting and had me wondering what was going to happen next. The story was way longer than I expected (but I am not complaining) and there were a few plot twists I didn't see coming. My only complaint: I wasn't ready for it to be over. I would have loved to have gotten a little more insight in to how things were goin ...more

Hannah Davis is a sweet second grade teacher who has pretty much drifted through her life, allowing her family the direction, after her sister was killed in an automobile accident. After finding out that her fiancee of four years married another woman without even telling her or his parents she needs to let loose and decided to take a small vacation to Coronado, while secretly planning to confront Caroline the bride. Meanwhile her Uncle Geoff, who works for the Secret Service has requested that ...more

I love this author.....she is sensual, but can also write a great story!

Weak 3 stars. Ok for contemporary romance, but nothing special or different. Light on plot, character, and dialogue.

The main romance:
Hannah is a sweet second grade teacher. Her parents and relatives are protective, helpful, and drive her wherever she needs to go. She was engaged for several years to Duncan who dumped her a few months ago. Now she is on a ten day vacation in Coronado. Her Uncle Geoff works for the secret service. He asks one of his former agents Tanner to watch over h

More like a 3.7 than a solid 4, but close enough.

This was a well-written book. The writing was quite suburb and it had wonderful setting details and character descriptions and growth. The story was fluent with characters of fleshed out backgrounds plus a dual romance within the main story. So overall it really was a good story plus had some steamy romance scenes.

However, Not Another New Year's had its setbacks. For one, the main character Hannah was 50 shades of dull . She was beautiful and sma

Not Another New Year's is the second book of the Holidays series by Christie Ridgway and since I loved Must Love Mistletoe, I had to read this one too,

I love to know more about the other characters from a story, so I was happy to read about Tanner, Finn's friend. He's also having a difficult time, feeling guilty for the death of a work partner and also because of the loss of his job. So when it's New Year's eve, he isn't exactly happy.

Hmm, I have a lot of questions that weren't answered in the end of this book. Honestly, I hopped between loving and strongly disliking this story. The characters, except for Hannah, were excellent. The romances (it's a double!) were pretty good. I felt more, and connected better, with the secondary romance between Troy and Dez. Desiree is how you write a heroine! Strong and independent and colorful. I

This one is totally cute, fun and a bit funny to put it all together. I love the scenery made for the storyline which in Coronado (I never know what it would be like), but the sound of beach and ocean is always a good choice!

Hannah is a quite a Miss Prissy and always love to please everyone. Her mom, dad, family, everyone. Which ends up the way she lived back stabbed her later on. How she's being dumped by her former fiancee' after he's already dead. There's a mystery though that kept her from m

2nd in the "Holiday" series after "Must love Mistletoe" even though you do not need to read the 1st to understand the 2nd. Ridgway is a great writer and I have enjoyed every book I have read of hers and this is no different. While this is part of the Holiday series it really does not have a holiday feel about it so don't wait until the New Year to pick this book up!

Hannah is a schoolteacher who has always done the right thing and has been protected her whole life. She has lead her life to pleas

I LOVED this book!

The book was MORE than I expected. There is also a little suspense thrown in. That only made it better, if that is even possible.

It’s a romance that's a little hot. Okay, it’s a REALLY hot romance book. You will definitely need to a cold shower or two.

In this second contemporary romance set on Coronado Island we delve into Tanner's life nearly a year after the tragic events of an assassination attempt foiled by the Secret Service. Unlike Finn, the male lead of the previous book, Tanner's role in the event was almost a comedy of errors which continues when wholesome school teacher, Hannah Davis lands in his lap on New Year's Eve. While the two dance around each other, Tanner's brother, Troy, and Desiree, the woman who stole Tanner's S

I really enjoyed the characters in this story. Hannah has come out to Coronado for vacation and to talk to her ex-fiance's wife. She is supposed to meet up with one of her uncle's old agents but it doesn't quite go like expected. She makes it in early and then has all of her stuff stolen from her. She heads to where she knows Tanner is going to be but doesn't ask for him right away, it's New Year's eve and she starts drinking with a few guys. She runs into a man that she is instantly drawn to, a ...more

What would you do if a beautiful woman fell in your lap? If you're Tanner Hart, and it's New Year's Eve, you give her a kiss.
Tanner has been busy feeling sorry for himself since he was put on leave from his job as a secret service agent. His former boss has asked him to play tour guide for his niece while she's in town and Tanner determines this is the way to get his job back.
Hannah Davis is trying to change her life. She's a schoolteacher and a people-pleaser, so she wants to step out of her co
The sequel of the previous Love must mistletoe, which however can be read independently. It happens on an even shorter period of time, about one week, and is also a light read.
I preferred this one to the previous, and would rate this one a full 4 stars.
I really liked the heroine's character, and the way she slowly discovers herself and takes back the confidence that she's lost/never had for many long years. She's undeniably endearing. For once, I had more problem with the hero, whose problem to

This was a fun, entertaining, well-written book. Hannah is getting over finding out her fiance married someone else without telling her, and decides to take a vacation to ring in the new year - and maybe have a one night stand! Tanner lost his job as a secret service agent and has been trying to prove himself worthy of returning to the job. Then he meets someone he is irresistibly attracted to and decides to put aside his troubles and have a one night stand. What happens the next day when Hannah ...more

A 2-in-1 love story! I love those! Every time I switched between couples, I'd think that I'd rather here about the couple I was just reading about... until I turned the page. Hannah is a prim school teacher kind of reeling from the turn her life took and decides to go on a vacation (with a secret ulterior motive, of course). Decides to get crazy drunk since her day has been shot to hell and has (her first) one-night stand. To wake up the next morning and find out - the man her uncle said would b ...more

This is part two of the Holiday Duet, and it works well as a stand-alone story. The characters, Tanner Hart, and Hannah Davis meet on New Year's Eve and there is an instant attraction between them. Of course, there will also be heartache because Tanner has sworn an oath to not become involved with any woman, while Hannah has come to Coronado to resolve issues over her dead ex-fiancé.

This is a fun and exciting read for any time of the year!

Great story, love the characters not just the main couple of Hannah and Tanner but Dez and Troy. I found great humor in the begrudging relationship between Troy and Dez, Troy's fighting his feelings for the exotic beauty and Dez ogling his body, lots of laughs. I enjoyed watching Hannah come out of her shell, develop her own life-not her parent's imagine or Duncan's sweetheart but a person for herself, and beginning it on New Year's Eve was a nice touch. Tanner's coming to terms with his life, o ...more

This is the first New Year's romance book that I've read and it's a companion to "Must Love Mistletoe." Tanner Hart is tasked with looking out for his former Secret Service boss's niece, Hannah Davis, who is on her own mission in Coronado, CA. The plot is filled with some mistaken identities mixed in with action and lots of heat. An enjoyable read to pass the time.
Thanks to CR's California Girls for the copy of this book.

I'm not really into Christmas-themed books, but this rang all the right holiday bells (bad pun intended). Seriously, I really enjoyed this story. The characters are all likeable and the plot moved along at a nice pace. The side characters and other plotlines added depth to the book and everything dovetailed together for a satisfying conclusion. And I really enjoyed the snarky "Reasons I hate New Year's Eve" at the start of every chapter. A very fun read!
Dawn ♥ romance
This story started out okay and I did finish but it was so full of useless details, characters thoughts and not a lot of action. Eventually I started skimming all but dialog and never warmed up to the characters. Hannah is on vacation and on New Years Eve decides to be radical when she meets ex-Secret Service agent Tanner.

Sooooooooo much better than Must love mistletoe! Very cute actually.
the focus was hannah but dez got her story too, but she got cheated. Thats actually why the book bumped down to 3 stars. I mean, one day troy wants to kill her the next he loves her. Zero development. Not good writing skills but much my opinion.

I loved this feel good story! It was filled with exciting action, stubborn Alpha's and strong determined women who with strength and perseverance remind the men they choose to love that there is a sun behind the clouds if they just reach for it! Smoking hot love scenes and snarky dialogue make you smile, gasp and chuckle!

After reading a book about suicide, I thought I needed a fun book that didn't involve anything depressing. Hence, me choosing this book. I didn't love it. It was told from 4 people's POV and it was hard to figure out who was speaking most of the time. Would not recommend this read.
