I was a bit confused. It felt like I was reading two separate books. The first half was lots of dialogue between characters and internal dialogue from Merry, whereas the second half was more long descriptive passages, and at one point the narrative changes, but it took me a minute to realise. Once the murderer was revealed I was surprised, but not because it was a good twist, but because normally when you find out, lots of things drop into place whereas I would never have guessed who it was.

I am a mystery reader and often find myself right in the thick of it. I try to identify with the characters and find myself trying to solve the murder from the first clue. There are times I start rooting for someone and hoping that the key suspect is not the villain.
