This was the writing text for a fiction class I took in college. This book has great explanations of the many different things a writer should know about (i.e. metaphor, plot, character, so on and so on). The big problem with this book is that it just isn't quite as good at getting the writer excited to write. It gives them the tools, but makes the tools feel kind of boring and bland.
