My home decorating has never come together to look as good as some of the interiors I glimpsed in this book. I loved that the author and her husband are Filipino and incorporated their heritage into their decor--they took a Philippine wood carving and recast it in plaster for their more modern sensibility--and even cooler, most of the interior decorators seemed to come from the Bay Area. semi-inspiring, with stories behind why each person made what they did, but most project were based on things you would already need to have at hand, like the 7 years of love notes between you and your spouse. or the clothes of your father who passed away, so that you could refashion them into a coverlet. really more of a jumping off point kind of book to come up with your own ideas than a strict pattern book. also, many of the projects would fall directly in the 'home decor' category, at times...more
I really enjoyed the range of crafts...anything from sewing, to decoupage, to painting, to simply framing love notes. I think the best part is the background information on all the individuals who made the crafts...the reasons why they cherished these crafts in the first place. I will definitely be taking some ideas out of this nifty book!
