Mr. Schorr died a couple of weeks ago at the age of 94. I heard that news while driving home from a vacation and I thought; "I bet he's written a book." Actually he wrote several. I love Daniel Schorr's commentaries on NPR's All Things Considered and Morning Edition. This book is a collection of some of his commentaries as they appeared on NPR over the last few years. His essays cover current events, politics and other topics. Mr. Schorr has been around a long time and I enjoy to hear his analysis of the events of the day.

Can be a bit of a downer, mainly because he discusses the most notable news stories of the last 50 years (which are usually downers). His annual, end-of-the-year, did-we-acheive-peace-on-earth report is especially disheartening. I suppose it reminds us that it has always been a messed up world.

Great insights. Made me miss him more.

I learned so much about the last 20 years of america and world current afairs. Also Daniel Schorr talks about his involvement in journalism in the last century. Amazing book and a must read for anyone interested in common sense history.
