Shattered Mirror was an excellent and thrilling book. It was about a girl named Sarah Vida who was from a long line of witches. These witches also hunted and killed vampires. Things start to change when Sarah meets a charming new guy at school named Christopher who happens to be a vampire. She struggles with this problem very much through out the book, because it is against her families "laws" to befriend a vampire. She also struggles with trying to hunt a very ancient and dangerous va More...

"Haven't you ever once wanted someone you could talk to about something besides killing? Someone who has no idea about your power and is simply a friend?" pg. 45

Vampire-hunting witch Sarah Vida is starting a new school, and struggling to deal with the myriad of complications her paranormal life throws at her. She can only have certain types of friends and forget about being friends with vampires. It's against the rules, which are some of the strictest ones I have heard o More...

Okay, so I did not finish this book. I picked it up because there were a ton of books by this author on the shelf, so I figured, okay, she must be pretty good. But I was turned off right away by the heroine as she went off to kill people and thought about how tough she was, and then right after she met Christpher he started leaving things in her locker (which I had someone do to me in college, and found it very creepy and an invasion of my personal stuff). There was no time for a relationship or More...

Why just two stars, you ask? This book had potential. It could have been a high-seller. Unfortunately, it simply fails to fulfill its potential. I liked the storyline: Christopher is a fascinating character, and his sensitivity is refreshing compared to the usual stereotypical vampire archetypes. Sara is..okay. As the protagonist, there should be a lot more feeling associated with her, but she was a truly dull, flat character. Yes, she falls in love with Chris, but the reader can't feel any of t More...

Shattered Mirror is an entertaining read. I quite liked reading Shattered Mirror, the characters were all pretty good. I had no complaints when it came to the characters.
The story line itself wasn't a bad one, I have to say though I felt that it was a little dragged out in some places but nonetheless it was quite a good read.
There were a few elements of mystery scattered throughout the story which was quite good, it kept me entertained and continuing to read the book.
Overall, I More...

My biggest problem with this book was that I thought I was getting a book about a teenaged witch in which witches hunted vampires but then this young witch learned that friendship! can! transcend! etc. And for the first third of the book, that's what I got, and so I was lured in.

Unfortunately, when the jaws of the actual book snapped shut, it turned out that I was trapped with a book that was really about the ~tragic~ ~immortal~ ~angst~ of twin vampire brothers and their desperate n More...

Shattered Glass is about a girl named Sarah Vida who is a vampire hunter and Witch. The setting takes place in Massachussetts. Her Family, The Vidas, are one of the most famous witch families known to kill Vampires. She moves to a new town and falls in love with a vampire named Christopher. Christopher is harmless but his twin, Nikolas, is not. The vidas has been chasing him ever since he killed one of their family members. My world was black and white for months after I read this novel. It's short and bitter-sweet. Plus, if you have a fancy for twins, then this is your thing. The poems scattered here and there are a bit corny I must admit, but they add to the story line nicely.

Confusion yes, but a great book! How would you feel if you are destend to be someone you do not want to be but you fall in love with someone you cannot love? This book is a wonderful book. Sarah is a witch meant to hunt vampires while Christopher is a vampire but week and does not eat off of vampire blood. They fall in love and what they find out about both of their past destroys things but what? And why? You have to read to find out. I love this book because in all vampire books the girl is usu More...

The 3rd in the Den of Shadows series tells the story of Sarah Vida, youngest daughter of the matriarch of the Vida witch family. The Vida clan lives to hunt and kill vampires. The vampire they would most like to kill is Nikolas, an evil killer who carves his name into his victims. As Sarah poses as a student in a local school she meets Christopher and his sister Nissa who are vampires, but vampires who don't feed on humans. Sarah finds herself attracted to the siblings, which puts her at serious More...

The third book of the The Den of Shadows Quartet is another strong entry in this series by a young author, younger than most of her human characters, not just the vampires that populate her world.

I'm still hesitant to accept the idea of 150 year old vampires going to high school, but for the rest of the story, I'll suspend my disbelief.

She manages not to make her teens too angsty, her characterizations are well-rounded, and she manages to write dialog that isn't stilted. More...

I've read this book many times before, but not in quite a few years. Rereading it reminded me of why I love her books so much. It's the story of how two people who have every reason not to be together still find reasons that they should. Sarah Vida is a witch and a vampire hunter who befriends two non-human feeding vampires at her new high school. This is something that is against all of the rules of her family. The entire novel takes place in less than two weeks. The reason I reread it is More...

Sarah Vida is the daughter of the powerful witch and notorious vampire hunter Dominique Vida. When she starts at a new school she soon falls in with Christopher Ravena and his sister Nissa. Sarah immediately identifies them as vampires and can tell that they don't feed on humans so she allows herself to become good friends with them, and soon begins to develop feelings for Christopher. But hunters can't befriend their prey and soon Sarah finds herself with a choice - her family or her heart? And More...

I think I liked Demon In My View more, but this was still a really good addition to the Den of Shadows series.

The plot was very original, and executed well. There was lots of action, and the Sarah's journey was very well documented. Even so, I didn't have much trouble putting it down, although there were parts where I couldn't.

I think part of the reason it was semi-easy to put down was that I didn't love any of the characters. Sarah, More...

I like how these books are not dependent upon each other as a series, but instead explore different lines of the vampire and witch family trees.

I have to say, however, that the author seems to suffer from a disease I too suffered when I wrote stories in high school--the ridiculously fanciful & inappropriate name syndrome. My concept of naming characters was based on names I thought were interesting and beautiful at the time: Jasmine seemed to occur quite often, as well as many ver More...

I don't necessarily find vampires sexy, and this book seems to have been written for people who do. (Assuming those people think 2 vampires feeding on one girl is sexy, that is.) I expected a Buffy-type adventure with some romance thrown in, and in that I was disappointed. There is no romance, surprisingly enough; more of a friendly acquaintance - and the initial fun bits of vampire butt-kicking quickly degraded into the heroine doing lots of soul-searching and wondering if she was going to be s More...

I discovered this book as I was creating a list of Vampire titles for those who were finishing up the Twilight Saga. I finally picked up this book because it looked like a small book and I was curious about the romance between a vampire and a vampire hunter (in this case, a witch and not a bad one at that). Atwater-Rhodes weaves a creative tale that kept me reading and wanting to find out what Sarah does.

Like Twilight's Bella, Sarah is a bit clumsy and (unlike Twilight) doesn't seem More...

I found myself trying to identify with the characters, but failing miserably. Rhodes gives us tons of backstory and everything, but the characters still feel incredibly flat. Plus the whole, "mad awesome strength" "not human" Mary-Sueness of Sarah just got to me after awhile.
Not to mention, the whole story felt rather rushed. Before I could even try and get into the story, it was over. Overall, I thought this book was incredibly forgettable.

So far, this was my least favorite story out of the bunch.

I don't think it's due to the fact that the main character isn't a vampire, i just didn't really care for any of the characters in this story.

I do enjoy the poems before each story though, and i really enjoyed Christopher's poetry in the beginning/middle of the story.

I just wasn't drawn in to these characters as much as i was with the characters from the first two...

I loved this book.
It was the most interesting vampire story. A vampire hunter, Vida witch, searches and kills vampire for the rest of their lives.
Sarah becomes the transfer student of a new school and two weak vampires try and befriend her.

It's against code to become close with vampires and Sarah's older sister threats that she'll tell their mom, who happens to be the most powerful witch hunter.

It was a really great book.

Shattered Mirror is a modern-day Romeo and Juliet. Sarah knows that she shouldn't grow emotionally attached to the creatures she hunts, and Christopher is the usual, if slightly more polite high school boy. Or, at least, he appears that way. He's a vampire, albiet a weaker one, but still, a vampire. As Sarah realizes her feelings for him, she is hunting the notorious vampire, Nikolas. But, as it turns out, if she wants to kill Nikolas, she might just have to kill Cristopher too. Atwater-Rh More...

Shattered Mirror is the third book to a four book series. Its one of the better books of the series. It a book that has it all witches and vampires fighting and love. I would love to hear bout about what happen to the characters later on in life. I read this book in a day its not long but its still worth reading. Keep in Mind the author was young when this books were written.

The first few chapters kind of made some sense. after reading some more it became clear, its a very good book. Its interesting how Sarah doesn't get that Christopher is in love with her from the beginning, but that makes it more interesting to read. At the end it confused me again, I'm still not sure if she decided to stay with Christopher or leave on her own.

I have grown to enjoy Amelia Atwater-Rhodes writing style. Her characters are a sort of guilty pleasure and her novels continue to exceed my expectations. I did enjoy this book and will continue reading her work; I do recommend this to the young adult community.

This is definitely my favorite book by her. The twists and turns never stop coming, and the writing is so dark, yet vivid, that the tense atmosphere is nearly tangible through every page. My only complaint is that she didn't write more on what happened while Sarah was in the vampire's den the first time.

All in all it's a great book though.

Hmm, had no idea this was written by a teenager. But I could've guessed afterwards. While the alternate reality was compelling and the characters relatively attractive, the ending was juvenile and somewhat repugnant in it's clean wrap-up. Not really my style.
