I would have rated this book a 3 until the end. So much time was spent on Alice being isolated and miserable! I hope in the future books Alice is a more likable character. So far she has been whiny, self centered (EVERYTHING is about her), and sluggish. She has no drive to do ANYTHING! She has no interests, no motivation, no pizazz, nothing! All she does is sit around & feel sorry for herself. She can't even make an attempt to try to do well in school. She sleeps through her classes and lets...more

In one of the first chapters, Milo slips, breaks his neck and then Alice has To decide to either let her brother die or to let them turn him into a vampire. She tells Jack to turn him and then spends some time blaming him for 'doing that to Milo'. O_O & --> this is what my face looked like while I read that part. If you think that's selfish then brace yourself.

In one of the first chapters, Milo slips, breaks his neck and then Alice has To decide to either let her brother die or to let them turn him into a vampire. She tells Jack to turn him and then spends some time blaming him for 'doing that to Milo'. O_O & --> this is what my face looked like while I read that part. If you think that's selfish then brace yourself.

Milo is a new vampire and he needs to adjust to his new life. He needs to learn how to control himself, how to feed, how to live, what do to,... and that takes time. Alice thinks that time should be spent on her, of course. And she's jealous of the fact that Milo is crushing on Jack, who isn't even gay.

To make up for it, Jack takes Alice and Milo to a vampire club, but since Alice is the shiny new object that catches everybody's attention, they have to leave because she is so delicious. She even manages to make two new enemies, who desperately want to do a lot of stuff to her, and I'm not even sure what all of that is, but I do know I wouldn't be able to watch it if they ever turn it into a movie. We meet them again when Milo thinks it's a good idea to go to a non-vampire gay club with Alice and Jane. Milo and Jane get it on, while Alice manages to get herself almost killed. Again. They fight, they get away, Milo loses too much blood and bites Jane and from that point on Jane wants nothing more than to get into Milo's still gay pants (and apparently considers certain painful operations to get past that obstacle).

Peter is gone for almost the entire book (and I didn't mind one bit to be honest), so Jack and Alice keep doing their mating dance, where they make each other crazy, without really doing anything. After getting herself almost killed for a third time (le sigh) Jack takes her up to his room to comfort her and finally bites her. And then everybody is running around in circles because Peter will kill both of them.

Peter comes home, he fights with Jack, and then it all went pretty quickly because suddenly Jack is feeding Alice his blood and telling her they should run away together.

I still don't like Alice but I could tolerate her more, probably because she was asleep/unconscious for 54% of the book. I hope Vampire!Alice is more likable. At first, I didn't like Vampire!Milo but he kinda grew on me and now he's right behind Jack as far as my favorite characters go.

What else... Again there were a lot of descriptions of what people are wearing, that's something that annoyed me in My Blood Approves as well. I like to get an idea of what somebody looks like, but I don't really need to know what brands everybody is wearing every time they change their outfit.

So on to Flutter now, I guess.(less)

I'm so glad I started reading this series! Just when you think you have the plot figured out, something comes along and changes everything for the better! I really liked where the author took "Fate".

The story started off fast with a shocking story line I never expected. I did think the middle part dragged slightly but the ending truly makes up for that leaving you wanting more!

I can not wait to read more of the Peter/Alice/Jack love triangle but I think I am secretly hoping Peter wins - even t...more

I LOVE THIS BOOK!! Ahh it's so addicting. I'm adopting Alice's sleeping patterns thanks to this series. In the beginning when Alice was angry and upset, I was actually in a bad mood for her lol. I found myself snapping at my family for no reason other than I was upset for Alice. Crazy. I was seriously sucked into this book. "Verführung" ist der zweite Band der Reihe "Unter dem Vampirmond" von Amanda Hocking. Er knüpft inhaltlich einige Wochen nach Ende von Band 1 an, trotzdem fühlt man sich sofort wieder in die Geschichte ein und der tragische Unfall lässt nicht lange auf sich warten. Er verändert alles und Alice und Jacks Familie müssen sich auf eine neue Situation einstellen, die für keinen der Beteiligten besonders einfach ist. Alice fühlt sich in dieser Zeit der Umstellung oft sehr alleine und einsam, weiß nicht wohin mit sich und ihrem Leben. Jack hingegen muss lernen Verantwortung zu übernehmen und ein Stück weit erwachsen werden, damit die Situation nicht völlig eskaliert. Auch seine Gefühle für Alice verlangen im einiges ab, noch wesentlich mehr als im Vorgängerband, dies hält die Geschichte aufregend und frisch, besonders wegen der Gefahren die das ganze mit sich bringt. Alice befindet sich ebenso in einer verfahrenen Situation, sie liebt Jack, darf ihm aber wegen Peter nicht nahe sein. Zwar hasst dieser Alice augenscheinlich, doch sein Blut fordert das Zusammensein mit Alice und lässt nicht zu, dass sich zwischen Jack und Alice eine Liebesbeziehung entwickeln kann. Diese Geschichte ist sehr spannend und lässt einen eine Gefühlsachterbahn der Extraklasse durchlaufen, da man jedes Mal sehr stark mit den Protagonisten mitfühlt und sich in deren Situation hineinversetzen kann. Alice' Bruder Milo bekommt in diesem Band eine wesentlich größere Rolle zugeteilt und er tritt mehr in den Vordergrund. Zu Anfang ist er sehr anstrengend und nervig, was aber an der inhaltlichen Entwicklung liegt und sich im weiteren Verlauf der Geschichte zum Glück wieder legt. Die Vergangenheit der übrigen Charaktere wird etwas näher durchleuchtet, was ich persönlich sehr gut fand. Zwar treibt es die Geschichte nicht voran, doch man erfährt so einiges über die Protagonisten und kann so verschiedene Handlungsweisen besser verstehen. Ihre Stärken und Schwächen werden aufgezeigt und macht die Charaktere "realistischer", was meiner Ansicht nach sehr wichtig für eine gute Geschichte ist, niemand will von perfekten Protagonisten lesen, deren Leben immer nur wunderbar verläuft!

Ihrem Schreibstil ist Amanda Hocking wieder treu geblieben: Sie benutzt eine klare, offene, flüssige Sprache und man merkt garnicht wie beim lesen die Zeit vergeht. Ich schaue jetzt schon auf den Kalender und warte sehnsüchtig darauf, dass im April Band 03 und 04 erscheinen und die Reihe vervollständigen!

Der erste Band, Versuchung, endet im Frühjahr, als die Schule für Alice und ihren Bruder Milo wieder losgeht. Verführung knüpft erst wieder drei Wochen vor Ende der Sommerferien an, d. h. das bisher einige Zeit vergangen ist, was eine gewisse Routine in Alice Leben zur Folge hat. Abends trifft sie Jack und die beiden unternehmen etwas. Ab und zu ist auch Milo dabei. Oftmals verbringen sie die Zeit bei Jack zu hause, am See, hinter dem Haus. Alles scheint so unbeschwert, bis Milo auf dem rutschigen Steg am See ausrutscht und sich das Genick bricht ...

Der Titel Verführung ist, wie ich im nachhinein festgestellt habe, mehr als treffend. Die Verführung im üblichen Leidenschaftlichen Sinne wird angedeutet und auch die Verführung des Blutes spielt mehr als eine untergeordnete Rolle. So wird nicht nur Jack immer wieder von Alice' Blut auf die Probe gestellt, sondern auch Milo hat fortan mit dem Geruch des Blutes und der Verführung dessen zu kämpfen. Aber auch andere Vampire sind nicht immun gegen die Verführung die Alice' Blut darstellt: Beispielsweise Lucian und Violet lassen sich nicht so leicht abschütteln und lauern Alice immer wieder auf.

Die Beziehung zwischen Jack und Alice nimmt Gestalt an, denn keiner von beiden kann noch länger seine wahren Gefühle verbergen, doch da ist noch immer das Blutsband, das Alice mit Peter teilt. Ich finde es vollkommen unglaublich wie es die Autorin schafft, das Peter trotz seiner Abwesenheit während des großteils des Buches, einen solchen Einfluss auf alles andere hat. Es ist wirklich erstaunlich, denn das zeugt - so finde ich - von großem Geschick. Das Verhalten von Alice und Jack oder auch die Besonnenheit von Ezra und Mae, die immer besorgter sind, was die Anziehung zwischen Jack und Alice angeht - all dies ist auf Peter zurückzuführen und die Angst auf seine Reaktion gerade wegen des Blutsbandes, welches Alice mit ihm teilt.

Die Stimmung um Alice ist die meiste Zeit eher bedrückt. Sie ist oft Einsam und fühlt sich von Jack etwas allein gelassen nachdem der sich so stark um Milo kümmern muss. Wobei es eigentlich genau das ist was sie Jack vorhielt: Er sollte erwachsener werden und genau das tut er. Alles was geschieht lässt ihn reifer werden, er wirkt nun weniger wie ein Junge als vielmehr wie ein junger Mann und der Leser ist bei dieser Entwicklung hautnah dabei.

Verführung ist eine ausgezeichnete Fortsetzung. Die Spannung steigt, denn Jack und Alice verstricken sich in Dinge, die nicht sein sollten. Dann taucht plötzlich Peter wieder auf und das Chaos ist perfekt. Ich bin begeistert von diesem Buch und wurde von der ersten bis zur letzt Seite schlichtweg mitgerissen. Also vergebe ich hier natürlich 5/5 Sternen.(less)

This has been an unusual reading experience for me.

I'm sticking with the series, I think because I want to see where the story goes and if the writing improves - and I'm a little masochistic.

As it stands (after My Blood Approves and Fate), the writing screams amateur, which isn't great for a published work that you pay for.

The number of grammatical errors is shameful, Hocking uses a paragraph to describe what easily one sentence could and her characters all speak the same way - like teenagers. T...more

I hate to write a negative review about this book because I really love this author, but this is honestly one of the most boring books I have read in a really long time. The main character, Alice, was very one-dimensional, and came across as very whiny. I didn't like her character for the same reason I didn't like Bella in "Twilight" - too whiny and way too obsessive over her boyfriend. I was sifting through the various recommendations that Goodreads provides, when I saw the first book in this series advertised and it was being offered for 99 cents. Despite the errors in spelling and grammar, from lack of proper editing, the storyline is superb.

There are more characters added to this second book, yet I wish the author had spent some time developing them and giving us a background of where they are coming from.

Jack starts to realize that he is in love with Alice after he found out that Peter has a claim on her. (Always count on a boy to realize their feelings for a girl when their territory gets threatened). Anyways...the big sucky part is that Jack and Alice can't be together because her "blood bond" dictates that she belongs with Peter and Peter has the right to kill her and Jack if Jack gets too friendly with Alice. Anyways...the big sucky part is that Jack and Alice can't be together because her "blood bond" dictates that she belongs with Peter and Peter has the right to kill her and Jack if Jack gets too friendly with Alice. This is really rough for Alice because her body tells her she belongs with Peter but her heart belongs to Jack but they can't give into each other. And the really sucky part is - Peter doesn't want her - but he will kill both of them if jack and alice's relationship goes too far.Alice feels like she is not very loved in this book, and with good reason in my opinion. Things happen to make her feel alienated from her family and her new vampire friends.

Alice deciding whether the path of a vampire is really the right path for her to take. She asks herself whether this is really the life she's meant to live, and these reflections are starkly exampled in metaphorical events that make her realize, for the very first time, that vampires aren't human. After this dawning revelation, Alice then understands for the first time that Jack and his family aren't human.

After she realizes that the Townsends are predators, new shades begins to unfold about the characters. We learn of patriarchal Ezra's past, and see that even now, although he behaves and acts pleasant for the most part, he has very cold and uncaring moments. In one sense, what semblance of humanity he's managed to hold onto cares very much for Alice; on the other hand, the vampire in him rises now and then, and cares little whether Alice lives or dies. This is the struggle for each member of the Townsend family, a duality that they struggle to control, and Alice has only scratched the surface as she continues to mindlessly provoke the demons within them.

SPOILER: in this book, theres a event where alice is walking home by herself(with no1 to protect her), and suddenly relizes someone is following her and so she is nervous and knows that if she runs...it will be to late.Read more to find out who will save her in this time of need and if the person thats following her, is really dangerous.(less)

The more I read this series, the more I like it. I find that the characters have become real people to me, and I care about whats going to happen to them. There are some interesting things that happen in this book Milo has more time in the book, and you get to know Jane a bit better.

Top that off with learning more about the vampire scene and stalking vampires that are not as friendly as Jacks family, and I think this book will hold your interest.

Here’s my initial review:

Gosh, I’m not sure I can take any more of this series! The story improved as the book progressed, but Alice still bothers me so much! She’s so passive and never takes charge of her life. She also never tried to take charge of the situation with Jack and Peter, which irritated me! It’s clear to me who her choice should be—-regardless of her blood tie (or whatever!) and seems like she should be fighting for that choice, rather than just waiting for things to happen. The development with Milo was very interesting, though jarring. (And the amount of grammar and spelling errors was UNBELIEVABLE!! Very distracting!)

This series has potential and some really interesting ideas, but I find myself so frustrated with Alice, her situation, and her passive, pathetic attitude that I want to scream! I’d really like to know how the story ends up, but I’m not sure I can bring myself to waste my time reading 2 more books to find out! But I’ll probably give in, as I tend to be a glutton for punishment!

OKAY, now that I’ve FINISHED the book, the ending was pretty good!! I loved Jane’s comments about Alice’s passivity and tendency to just let things happen! This mirrored my thoughts exactly!! Loved the ending with Jack, although thought the stuff with Peter was bizarre (when and why would his feelings turn to love?!). And, I was thrilled to see Alice take the initiative and clean the apartment!! Now that Alice has her fondest wish, hopefully she can make something of her life and become a functioning member of society. I probably will read the next book to see what happens now.

This book (and the series) is definitely for older teens or adults—-and don’t expect teens to learn anything good here to improve their lives! This is pure guilty pleasure. (And sometimes more pain and irritation than pleasure!)

At first I wasn't sure whether I wanted to continue reading this series. Book 1 was oké, but not great. But I was in the mood for a vampire book so I decided to continue reading this series and I am glad I did. Book 2 is better than book 1, it immediately starts with a nice and unexpected twist.

Ok so it took me pretty much 8 hours with work on the side (haha) and a lunch break to finish the book. And don't get me wrong; the reason why I needed to finish the book was only because I am pretty much love to torture myself and am invested in the character in the book. But this book pissed me off hence the 3 stars and not 4 or 5. I didn't really like the first one but toward the end I do have to admit I got invested in Alice, Jake, Peter, and Milo. I have consistently liked this series from book one to book two (and am currently reading book three). I really love how Amanda Hocking plays with the love triangle in a way that has not really been done before. I particularly liked the end, when that triangle came to a head and how the characters reacted. I love Jack, he is so endearing! I am so looking forward to seeing what happens in the lives of these characters.

The main complaints I have are the same as with her other books - grammar and inaccuracies, and also overuse of certain words/phrases. I won't even touch the Twilight/Vampire Academy similarities.

The grammar and spelling were BIG issues in this book, much more than in her others. The grammar and spelling were BIG issues in this book, much more than in her others. I felt like I was constantly seeing "is" instead of "as," "did" instead of "didn't," etc. It was almost like she was typing on a cell phone and the autocorrect wasn't correcting quite right. Simple proofreading would've fixed this problem easily. Also, unless I'm mistaken, she refers to the song Peter sings in his book as "Ava Maria," when in fact the name of the song is "Ave Maria." In addition, her constant use of "come with" is making me absolutely HATE that phrase. I never really liked it to begin with, but her use of it makes it seems as though she's trying to be trendy and in touch with the teenage persona, which is fine and all except NONE of the vampires in the book (except Milo) are teenagers. She regularly used it multiple times within one sentence or on one page ("I'm coming with." "Why are you coming with? You don't have to come with." "Because I want to." "OK, Alice is coming with.") <----This isn't an actual quote, but more or less paints the picture.

Her constant use of "wanna," "cause" (instead of because), and "gonna" also began to wear on me. I realize that this is how we as human beings speak. It is what it is, there's no real way around it. However, I can't stand seeing it in print. Here and there, fine, but multiple times in one sentence multiple times on one page is way too much. Again, it felt as though she was going for that trendy this-is-how-kids-speak vibe, but I feel she just went a bit too far with it.

I feel Bocking has a lot of great talent and is a great storyteller, but it almost seems like she's in too much of a rush to get her books out there and she forgets one of the most basic principles of publishing anything, which is proofreading. I'm curious to see how she responds to all the re-writes she'll likely have to do now that she's part of a publishing house that won't publish her books as-is.

I've gotten off track here. Basically, the book itself, aside from the errors, was good/great. I like where it looks like the story is going, so I'll certainly continue reading. However, I found it absolutely out there that Milo ended up turning into a vampire because of some freak accident, but I guess that's certainly one way to do away with Alice's reasoning for not turning. I'm happy that Alice is turned at the end of the book, but the way it all unfolded seemed a bit bizarre. I get that Peter and Jack planned to fight to the death or whatever, but it kind of seemed like Peter was accepting that he'd lost Alice to Jack and was going to leave her alone when Jack walked in and attacked him. The fact that Jack basically told Alice, "You need to turn now" was kind of weird, and the fact that he more or less forced his blood on her when she tried to say no was even weirder. But, it was what she wanted from the beginning and it turns out to be a pretty good way of doing away with the fight between Peter and Jack, so I guess it all worked out. Overall, I'd recommend this book if you've read the first in the series. I'm certainly interested to see how the series ends, so I'm looking forward to starting on the third installment.

This is the second book in the My Blood Approves series by Amanda Hocking. I am so glad that I starting reading Amanda Hocking mainly because they sounded interesting and the ebooks are so cheap! I have found a hidden gem of an author!

The first book feels very similar to the twilight series and Vampire Diaries but this book really branches the story out into new directions. Alice is still torn between Peter and Jack but Peter has left after the big thing (I don't want to spoil it) that happens...more

We'll this is the second book in the My Blood Approves Series�. Alice is getting use to her new life, sort of. After Peter almost� killing her and Jack almost� telling her that he loves her - she is dealing.

Jack starts to realize that he is in love with Alice after he found out that Peter has a claim on her. (Always count on a boy to realize their feelings for a girl when their territory gets threatened).

Huh I don't know how I feel about this book and I know that Jane has something up her sleeve I think she wants to become a vampire herself. What it's about...
Book #2 in the My Blood Approves series
A teenage girl and her brother struggle with their attachments to a vampire family.
A self published series that has done very well for itself! Exciting stuff!

What I loved...
I found this book to be a much more satisfying read than the 1st in the series. The plot pulled me along, there were unexpected turns quite quickly into the story and the evolving romance was well played.

I found this series more compelling than the others I've read ( Switched , and Hollowland ) and found it slightly easier to ignore the spelling, grammatical, and tense errors peppered throughout the book. I'm not even sure where to begin! Basically this book starts off with a terrible accident that changes several things in Alice's already complicated life. Plans that she had fully intended on setting into motion have to come to a halt. So she is left spending a lot of time contemplating her future.
