Acts Of Passion
by
Sedonia Guillone (Goodreads Author)
Jack Cade is skeptical of the new criminal profiler he's using. Michael seems so absent-minded and too neurotic to be effective. But he is brilliant and hot and Cade finds himself falling hard and fast, both in lust and in love. The attraction is mutual, although Michael's past demons haunt him, keeping him from getting too close. Together, they begin to unravel Michael's...more

Michael is part Japanese, part Italian. When Jack, the detective handling the murder case, first meets Michael, the attraction is instant and mutual. Michael, however, is a man tormented by his past - the abduction and killing of his younger brother, Peter, when Michael was only ten. Then there's also his committed relationship with Toshi, a gorgeous Japanese detective which didn't work out and Toshi had returned to Japan. The residue of these two milestones in Michael's life makes him a complex...more
This appears to be a continuation from previous books but it stands alone. I was unfamiliar with some of the background between Michael and his past lover Toshi. The author fills you in with any pertinent info for the most part but I still felt like I was missing some pieces about this relationship that undermined the story a bit. Toshi is a big part of this book even though he isn’t a featured character in any way.

Act of Passion by Sedonia Guillone was a very emotional read but par for the course with Sedonia. She always brings out the best of her characters. They feel real and that is one of the many things I enjoy about her writing. She appears knowledgeable about the history she introduces into her books, which I have always found fascinating.
I liked Michael. He was strong with just the hint of frailty on top of the absent minded professor routine, which I think was what turned Jack on. Jack needed a s...more

I enoyed this book tremendously and love the author's clever use of Japanese ritualistic suicide and the killer's God complex. The opening scene is one I will never forget. It was chilling. The author has uncovered a fascinating area of death and honor I never knew existed.
Jack's instincts on whether Kent died or was murdered is quickly corroborated by hunky criminal profiler Michael di Santos who confirms it was murder.
Up to this point, the book is original and riveting.

I occasionally like this author’s writing and her flair for using Asian culture and sexy men in her stories. They always feel exotic, well researched and interesting. Acts of Passion has all of that when profiler Michael meets sexy homicide cop Jack Cade on a murder case. Michael has extensive knowledge of Japanese rituals and the murder seems to be employing these in rather graphic and painful ways. As Jack and Michael search for clues to the killer’s identity, their sexual chemistry brings the...more

Homicide detective Jack Cade meets criminal profiler Michael Di Santo at a murder scene and as they work closely together to catch the killer a strong attraction develops between them. But Michael is apparently still hung up on his ex and Jack is wary of getting hurt again and that will make a relationship between them difficult to build and maintain. As Michael's extensive knowledge of Japanese culture and rituals leads them closer and closer to identifying the killer, and the sexual c...more

I liked the character in this book fairly well; however, a couple things bothered me when I was going through it. First, maybe the whole Michael loving Toshi thing was supposed to add some layers to his character and give some back story, but I don't understand how anyone could be tolerant of their lover saying they love someone else in their sleep. My reaction was an immediate WTF?!?! I also thought that the killer was pretty obvious. If it is going to scream out to me, I want to be questioning...more
