Oh Ash... *sigh*... he is amazing ♥

This short story is kind of necessary for the series because it shows in a way how Ash feels and all dread Meghan has to face now + there is something vicious stalking them...and it will be important later in the series.

Basically the synopsis is enough to tell you what is going on, but still... It's worth reading :) I kind of miss Puck by now and i hope he is going to return in all his glory ASAP.

Now,onto the next book :D

When we were young, we usually ask our parents to tell stories that will delight our evening. It was like a new life, a new day for a kid and everlasting days of sweet dreams. When we are older, we want to tell stories to the younger one and sometimes we felt behind from the stories that had been told. A lot of books lately had been published to create different perspective of the old fairy tales that our parents told us every night and sometimes they recreate a new story that will warm readers...more

I can't believe this book was free! I totally would've paid for it. THANK YOU!!!! This will satiate my nagging impatience for Iron Daughter. The only thing that would make me happier is moving the release of book 2 to about 2 weeks from today (hint, nudge, wink). Follow the link for happiness.

What a TEASE! My impatience for the release of The Iron Daughter just multiplied exponentially! Winter's Passage spins the tale of Meghan and Ash's journey to Tir Na Nog to uphold Ash's vow to the Winter Qu...more

Once I was finished with The Iron King I was stumped because I wanted to read the second book soon after, but I was (and still am) on hold for The Iron Daughter and needed something to satisfy my need to know what happens, so I downloaded this from this from the author's site for free. Score for me!

This short story records Ash and Meghan's misadventure trying to travel to the Winter Court. They of course encounter resistance and problems in just a few pages, and the story ends with Meghan situat...more

Winter's Passage is the interim novella that follows the ending of the first Iron Fey book, The Iron King, to connect it to the story to come in the second book, The Iron Daughter -- and it follows Meghan Chase's journey with the Winter Prince Ash to the land of Tir Na Nog, where the dreaded Queen Mab awaits. . .

This novella, clocking in at only 52 pages, was a nice way to jump back into the Iron Fey world, and I was still very much impressed by Julie Kagawa's faery world. Her fey and their worl...more

For those of you who've been hiding under a rock, Winter's Passage is an Iron Fey novella that takes place between The Iron King and The Iron Daughter. It's a really short read, but it's definitely worth your time. Winter's Passage contains everything I loved about The Iron King and The Iron Daughter, except its length. Since I've read everything Julie Kagawa has written so far, I'm just going to have to writhe in agony until Book 3 (The Iron Queen) is released. And that's going to be awhile...

GAH!!!! I love this world!!!! I missed Puck. But this was freakin awesome!!!! I love Grim, as usual. His sudden appearance and disappearances all the time. I love Meghan and Ash. This journey is just incredible. I can clearly picture everything happening and Kagawa has an ability to draw you in so deep, making you feel like you're along for the ride as well. What a great novella. Love it!!!

This was a great novella. Once again, we follow Meghan on a journey. She must go to the Winter Court with A...more

My review now also appears on Reading Lark: http://readinglark.blogspot.com/2012/...

This is really an excellent bridge between the fabulous first two books in The Iron Fey series, both of which I absolutely adored.

I LOVED that this little short-story was about Meghan & Ash's journey to the Unseelie Court... not only the physical journey but also their romantic/emotional journey.

Meghan is starting to fully embrace her fey heritage, and with that comes the fact that she takes her contracts se...more

Winter's passage is a very short transition short story between The Iron King and The Iron's Daughter. At just 50 pages I can honestly say that I didn't expect a lot of this. Although, I found it was not a direct shot of delivering Megan to the Winter court, and included added emotion to the ongoing struggle for the Winter Son and Summer Daughters love. I am even more eager to get my hands on the next book. This series promises success.

Sorry my Goodreads kingdom. I had been missing for quite some times now. Uni is driving me nuts and not getting a constant dose of reading is equally maddening.

So...Winter's Passage. It's not bad. I mean, how could it be bad when it was written by Julie Kagawa.

But meh! I liked Meghan less in this novella and I was told that I would like her even less in The Iron Daughter. Honestly, that Big Bad Wolf has more personalities than she does. I cringed e...more

UPDATE: Julie Kagawa has written another e-book exclusive novella out in June, SUMMER'S CROSSING -- told from Puck's POV! PUCK! OMG YES!! :D :)

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Great short story! I loved it. I loved how Meghan kept her part of the deal even after (view spoiler)[the Wolf offered to take her back to the Summer Court--that was a pleasant surprise all by itself, that the wolf had purpose for tracking them, and then didn't even kill them after he found them (or...more

An amazing treat from Julie Kagawa, Winter's Passage has everything that I love from The Iron King plus more. I love the way that Julie created her faerie mythology in The Iron King and we see another addition to it in Winter's Passage as she introduces The Hunter which is a very old mythical creature and one of my favorites.

The story begins right where The Iron King ended, Meghan has agreed to go to the Winter Court with Ash so they start their adventure filled journey in Winter's Passage. We g...more

I think it's so awesome that this novella was released, not to mention for free! Such a great way to revisit the world. I knew I had to read it immediately! What is there to say...lots happened but of course it leaves you wanting more. Now I really, really can't wait for The Iron Daughter to come out!
Oh, and another beautiful cover. I too wish this was a physical book to add to my collection!

This was a little novella in between books 1 and 2 of this series and I really enjoyed it. It takes place straight after The Iron King finished and Meghan has to go with Ash to the Winter Fae's palace. He's not the only one who is determined to deliver her to the Winter Queen and together they have to race ahead without being captured.

I enjoyed this quick, little read and it didn't take very long to read. A bit more of a relationship slowly developed between Meghan and Ash, but it is forbidden...more

Where do I begin with this amazing series? This was another that sat on my to read list for far too long before I finally had the chance to pick them up. I have to thank my lovely friend Touya from The Reader's Garden for badgering me until I was completely enthralled with just the idea of reading these books. I devoured all four volumes in a week. Then I went and read all the novellas, (yes, out of order, sorry guys)....more

I'm a big fat e-reader hold out. There's something super sad to me about reading something and not being able to put it on my bookshelf, or thumb through it at will, reading my favourite chapters or paragraphs when I need a pick me up. And since I'm not made of money I'm unlikely to buy an e-book (for convenience) and the actual hard copy (for the library), thus, although it has it's advantages (I will grudgingly admit) I still don't have an e-reader. Which also means all those novella add on's...more

Will Prince Ash really keep his oath and turn over the girl he loves to his queen? That is what happens in this story. At the end of The Iron King, Ash shows up at Meghan’s house to “collect” her as she fulfills her part of the bargain. At times, it is like Ash doesn’t want to do this. However, he is bound by oath and cannot go back on it.

He takes Meghan and intends to take her back to the Unseelie Court right away. Meghan has other ideas, however. She wants to go and check up on Puck, her best...more

Winter's Passage Review on K-Books

"Part of me wanted to walk up to him and hug him from behind, and part of me wanted to hurl a snowball at his perfect face to get some kind of reaction."

Winter's Passage is a great short story set in the world of The Iron Fey. I really enjoyed this short novella and I would definitely recommend reading it before starting on the second book in the series, The Iron Daughter.

Ash has come to take Meghan to the Winter Court, upholding their bargain. Meghan knows it...more

I seriously finished this book( or pages on comp.) like 20 minutes ago. It doesnt really count as a book though honestly. its like 60 pages. I got it free off the internet so i was like.."what heck might as well!".. and i must admit i really liked it. though she could have added it in the first book like giving us a preview of the second( u know in the end of books how they have the little previews!) but if you didnt read it chill..u honestly don't if you don't want to. Winter's Passage is not a full-length book, but an interim e-novella in the Iron Fey series that takes place between The Iron King and The Iron Daughter.

The story continues exactly where the first book ended. If you remember, Meghan, the Summer Princess, made a contract with Ash, the Winter Prince, in The Iron King and Ash had done his part of his contract in the first book. In "Winter's Passage", Ash comes to get Megha...more

Meghan annoyed me a bit because as she's being dragged around the human and fae worlds, she rarely asked questions. This was something that bothered me in the first book but if you're constantly being chased and running for your life wouldn't you stop, even for a few seconds, to find out what the hell is going on? Grimalkin and Ash hinted that they knew who was following but Meghan herself didn't bother to ask. I would at least want to know what I was running away. Ash was h...more

From GrowingUp YA

What a wonderful surprise to have discovered A Winter's Passage. This e-book is an Iron Fey novella that takes place between The Iron King and The Iron Daughter.

First off, I really love Kagawa's take on traditional fey mythology. Her world is refreshingly frightening and so easy to get sucked into. I say this because I used to think of my faeries as happy little pixies who reside on the outer suburbs of Disney and whose names rhyme with Dinker Bell.

Yeah, so NOT the same.

Again, Kagawa creates a riveting story as Ash and Meghan attempt to outrun a powerful hunter while on their way back to Tir Na Nog in order to fulfill Meghan’s promise to Ash. It was quite captivating, and at times I could feel my heart rate accelerating. My only complaint is that the novella rehashes too much of the first novel, recapping information any reader of the series would already know and, though I may be mistaken, I actually think there is a passage from this novella that is also word...more

I didn't realize that Winter's Passage existed until I went to pick up Summer's Crossing.... only to realize I had missed one. And I had meant to read them all in order, sigh. So I picked it up and read through it quickly anyways.

Since I've been reading through the series so quickly, I had a hard time remember which events occurred in which books. But Winter's Passage seemed to have a few flaws in my opinion. There were just a couple things that happened that didn't make any sense.

First of all...more

In this Novella, we follow Ash and Meagan’s journey to the Winter Unseelie court. A perilous and adventurous task where they face a deadly foe as well as their feeling for each other.
Can Meagan see Ash for who he truly is, and can Ash come to terms with his inner turmoil? Cab=n they even defeat this foe, one of the oldest fae of time. I am so happy Julie wrote thi...more

Meh. I have the buyers remorse. Not that it wasn't good, but it's only 50-some pages and I don't know that anything critical to the overall story happens. (There is a lot of re-capping what happened in book #1 in this little novella.) You probably could go without reading this one and skip straight to The Iron Daughter. The first chapter of Iron Daughter even covers what happens in this book, going over the romantic scene word for word.

Summary/spoilers below if you want a basic idea of what happ...more

To be honest you could probably enjoy the Iron Fey Series and understand what's going on without ever reading this Novella, especially since some of the scenes within are recapped in the Iron Daughter. However if you enjoyed reading Meghan's story, you wouldn't want to miss even one leg of it and you'll find the short novella worth your time. Winter’s Passage picks up exactly where The Iron King left off, with the handsome and darkly charming Prince Ash escorting the Half-Summer Princess Meghan Chase through the realm of the Nevernever and into the lair of Queen Mab, the Unseelie Court. However, before they begin their journey back to the freakingly cold winter-world, Meghan forces Prince Ash to do one last thing, namely pay a visit to her best friend, Puck (aka Robin Goodfellow) who got seriously injured during their previous fight...more
