Danger has never been so sexy, come and read a twist in the shape-shifting world and meet some hot dinosaurs. I felt this book was way better than the first two. Nina Bangs creativity for the end of this world Mayan prophecy is just outstanding on how she brings everything together, I just can’t wait for the big finish. I found this one to be an emotional ride with all emotions present. You meet a few new characters the most important is Kione he is a prince of the faes.

This book was so emotional. I will have to warn anyone who is not tolerate of the mentioning of m/m rape, but if you can please try. I found myself crying at a few points and let me tell you that’s hard to do I’m not a normal crier period. Anyway there is two scenes in here that I just lost it. One is when Fin is taking in Kione’s pain and Utah and Lia steps in to help. The other is when Kione is sharing his past, it was just horrible. Its always nice to read when others step in to help no matter what happens.

Lia and her mother was in the second book. As you know Lia is a human at least for now and she is set out to take down Utah for killing so many vampires. She became his driver. The first thing she told Utah was to “pull over, you prehistoric jerk.” Lia was fun to read. I found her strong or soft when needed. She sure was witty and full of sarcasm when needed.

Utah is a Utahraptor. As you read in book two he lost his brother and these type raptors run in a pack, so he is now on a killing spree and wants nothing more than kill all vampires. Will he kill the one woman that is destined to be a vampire? It’s a sexy ride to find out.

For those of you who that loves this series I’m not going to add spoilers, but I will say This book takes you more in-depth about the eleven’s story. One being Seven. Seven is not who you may think he is. It blew my mind when I found out. Then at the end just blew me a way again. You’ll never guess who is back. Excellent ending!! This book is awesome and not to be missed for you regular raptor readers.

I don't know what to say that I haven't said already in my previous reviews on this series. Only, it's somehow managing to get even better. More characters are developed, particularly the dark fey prince (who is... mouth watering) and Fin and his brother. More about the plot (which I love most of all) is revealed, and the questions seemed to have slowed down. I really like Nina Bangs' take on the 2012 Myan Calendar end-of-times.

So now "Zero" thinks to do the same to humanity in 2012 and have the supernatural creatures take over. So now "Zero" thinks to do the same to humanity in 2012 and have the supernatural creatures take over. He's got 9 powerful beings working with him, and their job is to raise a supernatural army to help bring about the end of humanity.

Enter our eleven "Gods of Night", raised by Zero's opponent "Fin". Fin has saved the souls of 11 predators from our prehistoric past to help fight Zero and his minions. Dinosaur souls have been placed in human bodies, but they can take thier original dinosaur shape when their are fighting. The first 2 books 'Eternal Pleasure' and 'Eternal Craving' had the Eleven go after the first 2 minions "Nine" and "Eight" as fin has named them.

Now, in 'Eternal Prey', Utah is paired with the human Lia, who is also a leader of a Vampire Tribe, and has plans to become a vampire sometime in the future. Humans help keep "Zero" from reading the eleven's thoughts. Thrown in with them is the Unseelie Prince who brings out uncontrollable lust in those around them, but Lia and Utah have a job to do and have to fight the attraction they feel for each other. Fin had seen Lia in a vision sending "Seven" back to the cosmos, but not what she needed to do just that.

This is an action packed series with the fate of human kind in the balance. Great characters, and I love how the eleven are learning to cope with human emotions and developing thoughts beyond eat-hunt-kill. Fin's brother Seir is an enigmatic character who's playing both sides of the equation with his own agenda. Some political machinations with vampires make things interesting, and Lia's smarts help balance her relationship with Utah - and he grows to respect and care for her as a person. Lia also sees things in Utah that aren't always black and white, either. Great addition to an interesting series in the paranormal field!(less)

I am still shocked by this series, but I have to admit the dino-shifter and Mayan prophecy makes for an awesome book. If you like sexy shifters and the wolves are starting to bore you, read the Gods of the Night series. This series gets better and better with each one. Readers were introduced to Lia in the previous book as an evil vampire leader’s human daughter. Lia made it clear to everyone from the moment she was introduced as a character that she wanted to become vampire, as soon as possible preferably. Utah lost one of his brothers to a vampire attack. Utahraptors are pack dinosaurs. He is emotionally destroyed by this loss. What better way to try to heal that wound than go kill all vampires you can get to. I thought this would lead to one of those I hate you but I’m going to have sex with you anyways and hate myself for it courtships, not the case. Utah and Lia have numerous hurdles to overcome to be together. The characters attraction to one another is obvious. Their pursuit of each other is hot. Lia and Utah’s banter is great. They are teamed up as partners. She is his human that will keep him from being detected by the big bad evil. He needs her and she needs to kill him on account of his attempting to slaughter every vampire in existence. All these conflicts make for one incredible book. Oh, and they get the best wedding gift ever!
The cast of characters in this series is insane. The secondary characters get larger and more intriguing with each book. Kione has a large role in this book. We learn an enormous amount of information about his past. His past is HORRIFIC, and a tear jerker. Seir is still cryptic. He truly leads you to believe that he is playing both ends against each other, but then he helps the Eleven in a way that just seems to counteract everything else he did. Seir is a very interesting character that I want to know more about. Zero gets more proactive with his destroy mankind meddling and also with the obstacles he will throw into the Elevens lives. Seven is….. Wow, the surprises with Seven. Seven is different. I think anything I reveal about Seven will be a spoiler. There is a history with Seven (and another character specifically) that was not present with Nine and Eight. It leads me to believe that Seven may have played for the good team in a previous time cycle. (I’m done; I can say no more about Seven. Oh but the things I want to say about Seven!)

In the last clash of good and evil, evil won and life on earth was destroyed. These warriors were sent almost into a type of stasis...awakening mere months ago. But to them, it has only been a matter of days since they roamed, fought and killed in their prehistoric form. Now in the bodies of very human men, these ancient predators once again fight to save the world. Able to shift at will into their dinosaur form, they are formidable soldiers. But even as they try to adapt to a brand new world, they are still trying to understand their past.

In Eternal Prey, Utah is still struggling to deal with his rage over his brother's death at the hands of the vampires. His hatred for the vamps is absolute, so being paired with the woman who leads the vampires in their region is trouble. So is the fact that Utah is having a hard time controlling his attraction to the woman who should be his greatest enemy. Lia might be human now, but she won't be that way for long.

These stories are interesting. They are different enough to stand out, and there are enough questions about who they are, where they come from, to keep you guessing. Every book reveals a little more of the puzzle, a little more of the mystery that is Fin as well. Fin is a complete enigma, but he is not the only "side" character that stands out. Kione, Sier, Jude, they actually grabbed my attention as much if not more than the warriors, and I would love to get their stories. This series is a nice change from the usual, and I am definitely looking forward to more.(less)

Utah was still grieving the loss of his brother, Rap. He had another brother named Tor and they three had always hunted as a pack. Back about 100 million years ago when their kind ruled the earth. It didn't help that he had killed many vampires in retribution. He wanted more!

Great read - third book in the THE GODS OF THE NIGHT series.

This one literally starts up where book 2 left us... the action has moved to Portland OR, but Utah is still efficiently thinning the vampire population to avenge is brother's death, and the Eleven are still looking to eliminate the latest entry [Seven] in the doomsday countdown.

I mentioned in my review of Eternal Craving that I thought the cover didn't capture the vibe of the story. Well, they got it right this time. In fact, I think I kinda love this cover. It feels a lot edgier and more primal, which is definitely what I imagine when I think of dinosaur shifters. The blurring along the edges brings to mind someone who's so intent upon someone or something that everything else falls away. The only thing I'm wondering is why Utah and Lia are being attacked by another dino. I don't remember that happening. I mean, they were attacked by plenty of other things but I don't recall one of the Eleven turning on them at any point. Hmm. I'll chalk it up to a wealth of enthusiasm by the cover artist to get some sort of dinosaur element in there while still conveying the fact that the Eleven are human. Ish. Human-ish. You know, being shapeshifters and all.

Heck, I'm tryign to say that I like the cover. It's pretty and it tickles my fancy.

And the story? We get more answers about what the Eleven were before they were dinosaurs. We get to take a peek into the sticky world of vampire politics. Fin is still a raging mystery, although he's starting to show pieces of himself. The Eleven are drawing other powerful beings into their orbit, like Seir, Kione and Jude. Will all those guys play a part in the coming battles? I don't know. But they're here now and they're helping Fin. I'll admit that some of their help is grudgingly given, but it is given.

Utah's grief after losing Rap in book 2 to the rogue vamps has to work itself out and Lia's insistence that she's going to become a vampire in the near future makes for some interesting interactions between the two. When they finally do toss aside their reservations and make sweet, sweet love it's just as hot as I thought it would be.

All in all, this is a great addition to the series. It gives a few answers while laying out the groundwork for the next book. Although it's probable that you could jump into this series with this book, I would highly recommend reading the first two in the series just so you can see the journey of the Eleven unfold a piece at a time and get all the backstory. It just makes everything so much sweeter that way.

This was another great story from Nina Bangs, which would've gotten at least 4 stars if the head-hopping wasn't so darn bad. I had to go back quite a few times to figure out which character was talking/thinking what. It bothered me a lot, which also bothered me because I LOVE Nina Bangs. I honestly don't remember this being a problem in her other books, but hopefully it's not a sign of things to come for the rest of the Gods of the Night series. Eternal Prey is book three in Nina Bangs’ Gods of the Night series. I did not read the first two books and at times found myself struggling to keep up in a world I didn’t recognize.

The first chapter jumps right into action. There is no slow lull as you figure out what is going on. Bangs lets you know about the immortals and the shifters immediately. Which is a giant plus in my mind. Readers like me who are just being introduced to Bangs paranormal world need the quicky intro.

There are battles, but the major emotional conflict is between the hero and heroine. Utah cannot accept the fact that Lia is a human who wants to be a vampire. Utah hates vampires because one killed his brother and the idea of his mate becoming a vampire is abhorrent to him. However, the two are only part of a larger story which pits a pack of shapeshifters known as the Eleven against the Ten who are out to kill humanity. In this book, they are facing the villain known as Seven.

This is definitely a romance novel, so don’t believe the book reviewers who are calling it urban fantasy. There is a happily ever after for the seemingly star-crossed lovers. As the story unfolds, we learn about the origins of the Eleven, their leader and their past. We also learn about Kione, a character which was introduced in one or both of the other books. His story made me want to cry. I would love to read about him finding a happy ending.

I enjoyed reading Eternal Prey, but I wish I had read the previous books to avoid confusion. While I liked the characters, I was drawn to Kione and the small bits that surrounded him. I would read the book again just to get a better understanding of Kione.

I never thought there would come a day that I would think of dinosaurs as sexy. Well, I was wrong. The God of the Night series, written by Nina Bangs, sure changed my mind!

Eternal Prey is the third book in the “Gods of the Night” series and with it we continue the countdown to the year 12-21-12 where a Mayan prediction calls for the end of the world as we know it. These eleven men with the souls of dinosaurs have been called to being by Fin who is possibly a God, to battle evil and save the world. This is a buddy-warrior vampire paranormal romance novel. The band-of-brothers-fighting-evil type, where one man finds his mate in each book. The main characters are all sortof were-dinosaurs, and in this book, the love interest is a human who rules a vampire region and intends to turn vampire herself. This is the first that I have read from this author, I had heard good things about this series, and I just love the cover and the blurb really intrigued me when I saw it at the shelf at the library, so I decided to try it out. I definitely have no regrets, it was a enticing read... Eternal Prey is the third installment in the Gods Of The Night series, and I even though there were a couple parts I was a little confused at first, I was able to catch up fast, (although I definitely feel a powerful need to read the previous two books), from the first chapter I was captivated, especially by these specially woven characters, that stole their way into my heart. I just loved all of the Eleven, and what a special bond they all have with each other. I love the intrigue and danger that surrounded the plot, and most especially the powerful passion between Utah and Lia, that will just draw you in, Nina Bangs with take you on a thrilling ride of adventure, danger, passion, and intrigue. A POWERFUL READ!!!(less)

I love the premise of this series based on the Mayan end of world myth. Zero et al. were responsible for the extinction event that wiped out the dinosaurs. Now the Eleven and Fin (their leader) will try to save the day and Earth's humans. The Eleven are now men. They have souls of the dinosaurs that they were at the last extinction event. Their leader Fin is not like them. In addition to humans, the earth is inhabited by vampires, werewolves, and other non-humans. Zero and the Immortals recruit non-humans to help further their destructive plans.

Each book in the series focuses on a different member of the Eleven as they face off against one of the Immortals. The first book, Eternal Pleasure, is centered on Ty and is set in Houston, Texas where the Eleven face off against Nine. The second book, Eternal Craving, is set in Philadelpha, Pennsylvania and focuses on Al as they go after Eight. The third book, Eternal Prey, is set in Portland, Oregon as the Eleven hunt for Seven. Each book is also a romance. Eternal Prey is the story of Utah and Lia.

Utah is a Utah Raptor who is engaging in a vendetta against vampires. He hates them. Vampires killed his brother Rap. Lia is the human daughter of a vampire and regional leader of the Northeast vampires. More about that can be read in Eternal Craving (book 2). She may have to kill Utah. So our love interests have some deep issues to resolve. Utah is a take no prisoners guy. Lia is smart, sarcastic, and tough. She's integral to the story line and not just the love interest.

I really enjoyed this book, It is well written, action packed, moves the overall story along, and gives us interesting characters, both primary and secondary. I am rooting for the Eleven. I'm looking forward to reading more of their stories and finding out more about the mysterious Fin. I feel that Eternal Prey is the best written of the series so far. This is a series I believe should be read in order.

The dino-shifter and Mayan prophecy combo makes for an interesting series. If you’re into sexy shifters who are truly larger than life, read the Gods of the Night series.

3.5 stars. I am confused by the ending. What was the signifcance of the yellow flower? Why was that the thing that worked? Maybe I was reading too fast and missed it?

The book was good. I find myself more interested in Fin, Seir, Kione and Zero than the actual Eleven. My guess is that Fin, Seir and Zero are all brothers.

And how will these stories work? Will they ever fail? There are only 6 bad guys left yet 8 of the Eleven plus all the side characters.

You can never go wrong with Nina Bangs - she rocks! This is the third in the Gods of the Night series. With each book we're given a bit more of a glimpse into the back story, just enough to leave us wanting more. I read this in one sitting, 'cause I just couldn't put it down. Now I can't wait for the next one. You'd better write faster, Nina. 2012 is coming fast. :-)

A big step up from the first two. The characters are more fleshed out and many of the more shadowy characters reveal actually interesting back story. Eternal Prey feels like more thought was put into the story telling than in its predecessors, which is a definite plus. You know what I always have enjoy this series but this book came out in 2010 now its 2012 almost 2013 so I've got to wonder if this is it, if so I am very saddened but the romance is is hot he women are loving understanding brave and smart especially in this one the understanding the angle was different on this one than the previous two but still enjoyed the fighting and twists. By high school, I’d decided to trade in my lariat for a trench coat. I was into dark and dangerous. As an intrepid foreign correspondent, I’d stalk the mean streets of the world. Did I actually write anything? No, but I did read all of Agatha Christie’s mysteries.

I worked at a department store during college. My short stint in the accounting department taught me a lot about math. Three hundred-dollar shortages plus hysterical tears equaled instant move to gift-wrap. A career in math was not in my future. I didn’t care because I’d discovered “real” literature. I plowed through James Joyce’s Ulysses and Tolstoy’s War and Peace. If it didn’t make my eyes cross then it wasn’t worth reading. Yes, I admit it, I was a literary snob.

But there’s just so much “real” literature one person can take. I graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in English Literature and a determination to avoid books that induced eye crossing or had tragic endings. The only things I managed to write during those years were research papers.

I taught second grade for several years then spent two years in Dublin, Ireland. A friend and I supported ourselves by singing folk songs in Irish pubs. We weren’t great, but we were young, enthusiastic, and wore short skirts. It was obviously my destiny to be the next Judy Collins. I spent a lot of time poring through music books.

Returning to New Jersey and reality, I taught elementary school until I grew restless again. My cross-country odyssey included stays in Arizona, California, and Texas. Along the way, I indulged my love of horses. No black stallions, but I did have several beautiful Arabian mares. I read tons of books on breeding and showing.

Somewhere between California and Texas I grew addicted to romance novels and cats. The cat’s independent attitude was exactly the quality I admired in my romance heroes. And once I decided to try writing my own romances, I made sure a cat crept into each story.

Texas is my permanent home. I’ve come full circle. Born in San Antonio, I spent most of my life in New Jersey. Maybe the Texas in my blood accounts for my attachment to strong men, fast horses, and wide-open spaces. My love of cats? Haven’t a clue.(less)
