I managed to get a sneak peak and read of the manuscript via a friend who knows him and served with him. I hope Mark won't mind, given I thought it was brilliant. He has chosen a time and topic that just screams film deal. The plot is excellent, original and well written. I loved this book and it set's Powell up as one to follow. He has found the magic in this one. The characters are so good you just want to slap some of them, hide from others and make friends with the rest. Five stars my friend...more

This book really had me turning pages. It seems Powell has now found his stride and I think we will see him continue to get better and better. As a critic I get to read many books, but I like Powell's open and honest style. He has nothing to hide and writes from the heart. He will produce a bestseller of that I am sure. Deep Six may be the one!

Deep Six takes us on an adventure, Somali Pirate action which builds to a great climax. Just enough action, not too much romance and loads of facts. The r...more

After reading the first book by this promising new author - Quantum Breach, I was so looking forward to his second book - Deep Six, knowing that he has put in so much efforts and researches to make it the very first "Faction" based on the Somali pirates. I knew he will get even better with his 2nd book and he didn't fail me! Deep Six is absolutely the page turner and it got my heart pounding with many brilliant and exciting action plots.

Deep Six will make a good movie script in my point of view...more

I really loved this book. It was fast paced, exciting and extremely well researched.
Marks' writing and use of language has evolved ten fold since his first debut novel and the words flowed nicely.
It has 'Best Seller' written all over it and Mark has secured a place in among my favorite authors along with James Rollins, Clive Cussler,
Dan Brown and Chris Kuzneski to name a few.
The content , Somali Pirates, also made it a fascinating read and the characters were well thought out.

Two thumbs up! This book kept me locked in my seat, out of it when the action fired up. The pace is good right from the first page. I was asked to read one of the first copies. Very glad I did. Very good indeed. I would go as far as to say that Powell has a winner on his hands. The plot is so original and the characters just keep you reading. Well done Mark. New York Times, read it and add to your best sellers list soon. It will make it!

Any minus points, only that I didnt want it to end. I'm hoo...more

I was told to read this book by a friend. I really enjoyed it. The plot kept me hooked in and I love the characters. I'm not normally a fan of action, but Deep Six was easy to follow and not to complex.

This new author is great.
A very enjoyable read. A large part of the book does involve tying up loose ends so it may not do so well read as a standalone book, but I found the plot progression very satisfying having read "Quantum Breach" prior to this book.
