This book was very good. For the most part. I really enjoyed most of the novel. There was something at the end that just didn't sit well with me at all and made the book go to hell in a hand basket, but I will get to that in a bit.
I never really thought much about Evan (Aven, anyone?) in the previous three books, but I was pleasantly surprised by him in this book. I actually really like him, and I thought he was utterly adorable. He was really sexy, too. Which sucked because I More...

4 stars – Contemporary/Sports Erotic Romance
This was an enjoyable read, but it’s not a series favorite for me. Evan and Kendall were hot together, and their romance was both steamy and touching. But something about their relationship also felt a bit immature and like overeager, anxious, reunited teenagers in love. I felt like they each had some growing up to do and together as a couple.

The Chase is the 4th book in the Fast Track series by Erin McCarthy, a contemporary romance series about NASCAR drivers. The first two books, Flat-Out Sexy and Hard and Fast were extremely good. The third book, Hot Finish, was mediocre at best. I was hoping that McCarthy would get her groove back and that The Chase would prove that the hot mess of Hot Finish was a fluke. I was wrong. I didn’t think it was possible, but this book is actually worse.

One of the oddest endings I've read. It's a fun story, Kendall and Evan are so lovable and their scenes together are sweet, sexy and just enjoyable. The "twist" at the end did nothing for me. It felt just kind of tossed in, and it didn't let the book really finish. Yes, there's a conclusion to Evan and Kendall's story, but this plot twist felt very random. It was used for 30 pages of angst, and I don't think it was needed.
Next up Tuesday's story, yay!

I just plain liked this book! Second chance at love - damn good story and the sex was HAWT!!! Two people that flat out love each other; can't get enough of one another; even time doesn't diminish their love.
I loved the writing in THE CHASE. It didn't drag, there was never a dull moment, and the snappy dialogue is awesome! For instance, this little scene with Kendall and her mother during the Easter dinner:

The Chase by Erin McCarthy
Contemporary Romance –April 5th, 2011
4 stars
The Chase exemplifies the fun and always entertaining writing skills of Erin McCarthy. It is the forth in her fast track series about super sexy drivers and the women who tame them!
Kendall Holbrook and Evan Monroe were young and in love, but a simple misunderstanding separated them. It is many years later and they meet again on the racing circuit. Kendall has become the new female ‘hit’ driver More...

I am torn... and I have read many of the other reviews and I agree wholeheartedly that the twist at the end pissed me off and left me unfulfilled without a true HEA. That is all I am going to say about the twist because I accidently read it was coming in a spoiler and I wish I hadn't. I just wish it was resolved in a different way or wasn't true.
Now for the rest of the book, I LOVED it. This is a auto buy/favorite series of mine and a favorite author. Loved the first 2 books, 3 was good, but

I just love this series! Through the book, I was just in love with Evan, and Kendall too, both mostly with Evan. He was just gooey sweet and so frickin' hot! I loved this story of young love renewed. (Of course I would, I married my high school sweetie!) It was all just wonderful...
Except, there was this little conflict tossed in at the end. I could have done without that, or without how childish it made Kendall react. It would have been nice to get some resolution there, I am More...

Kendall Holbrook is having a good rookie year. She's the only female driver in the Sprint Cup series of NASCAR, and she's putting in a good showing. She's also learning to deal with the sexism and macho drivers on the circuit. She has no time for anything but racing, which has been her dream her whole life. She particularly has no time for Evan Monroe, a talented driver who also happens to be her ex-boyfriend and the only man she ever loved.

Another favorite in this series. Second-chance-at-love; mutual admiration, respect and power-sharing between the h/h; a race car driving heroine...what's not to like? Plus, there's the the fact that this book doesn't shy away from the difficulties that arise for a woman in a male-dominated profession who wants to be taken seriously for her skills professionally, but also wants to be loved. Damn it. McCarthy really portrays this challenge well, and how it both does and doesn't go beyond the dea

McCarthy's series has been reliably good. Her characters are more varied than usual and face some interesting challenges. The stories are steamier than I usually go for, so I think I keep coming back for the interesting people and the world she's describing. The Monroe siblings feature pretty heavily in the series (and scenes with the family, like when the two brothers fight and get yelled at by their mom, are spot on), and readers met oldest brother Eric in the first book. It's good to finally

Fourth in the Fast Track racing romance series based on a group of drivers on the stock car circuit. The couple focus is on Evan Morgan and Kendall Holbrook.
My Take
It's an interesting look behind-the-scenes of stock car racing at the PR considerations as well as the unique perspective we get from Kendall as the lone woman.
It's role reversal time as Evan is the one who wants the relationship. Wants to get married. And Kendall is the one who's more interested in her career More...

Loved this fourth addition to Erin McCarthy's Fast Track series! Kendall Holbrook is the single woman driver in the Cup Series. Evan Monroe is her ex-boyfriend from 10 years prior, also a Cup Series driver, and is having probably the worst year of is driving career. Even though they split up 10 years earlier due to a misunderstanding, when The Chase opens the sparks fly! Their story starts out with a bang when Evan overhears a private conversation at the track between Kendall and her best friend

In this book we meet up with Evan Monroe, the free-spirited brother of Elec (from Flat-Out Sexy). Evan hasn’t committed to a woman in a long time–pretty much since he was 18 years old and in love with Kendall Holbrook. So it’s no surprise that the sparks fly when Kendall is the newest rookie driver on Evan’s team and these two have to see each other all the time. Kendall hasn’t moved past Evan either, and these two finally get suckered into talking to each other and working out their issues.

This is a fun series. I really enjoy it. I like McCarthy's contemporaries better than her paranormals. I think it has to do with the dialog, it's short and snappy. I find it humorous.
The Chase irritated me a bit because the main character was so damn whiny. She'd cry every time she was teased or felt attacked. And she was supposedly a "strong" woman making it in "a man's world." Whatever.
I nearly choked when I read this:

I could not wait to read this book!
These series are a fav of mine. The book before this one was a bit vague, but still miss Erin can pull a happy ending out of anything! And I really need my dose of non –angst-y happy endings.
Sure the third book was a bit off with that but I lived trough it and even liked it a bit.
So you can all see why almost fainted when I finally got it and started reading. I was hoping this one was fab! Boy, was I wrong.

This is such a strong series. I've really grown to care for the characters and absolutely love that the couples don't complete their journeys at the conclusion of each book. Weddings, babies, etc pop up in future books and everyone gets involved. I will also say that this is one of the few series that I read with very beta men. I'm normally an alpha girl, but the relationships in the fast track series all have men who are strong and masculine, but defer to their equally strong women in a ve

My Review:
Kendall & Evan were dating hot and heavy 10 years ago. Evan was on the verge of asking Kendall to marry him (he had the ring bought and everything) when all of a sudden, Kendall wouldn't have anything to do with him. He never understood what happened and neither one of them ever got over their love for each other despite the hurt, harsh words, and hard feelings that have defined their relationship ever since.

Hmm, if I hadn't read the first two books of the series, this might have been a 4 star read, but as a 4th installment, it's sort of disappointing. I mean, I ate through the pages. The story had me hooked, but then once it was over, looking back on the journey...it left me with an "only 3 stars" taste in my mouth.
I found that I liked Evan a lot more in this book than any of the others. His previous bitter attitude was explained here, but unlike Suzanne in the last book, h More...

Evan and Kendall's get a second chance. 10yrs ago Kendall stopped talking to Evan over a miscommunication and Evan just let her go. Now they want to see each other and life is getting in the way.
As the series goes on, a Erin McCarthy has a pattern in her writing. First the couple gets drunk and then they have mind blowing sex. Then there is an awkwardness of I want to be with the other person but i don't know what is going on with the other person. Then they have hot sex again a More...

Summer = romance novels, but this is the second book this week I've not been able to finish.
Heroine is a sexy woman in a man's field - car racing. She used to date our hero, but broke up with him because she thought he was making fun of her ambitions. Ten year later they are still physically attracted. She discovers it had all been a misunderstanding and they promptly get it on.

Evan Monroe and Kendall Holbrook were lovers when they were very young but there is no sign of that affection 10 years later when they are rejoined as teammates on the track. Kendall's friend Tuesday facilitates their reconnection when she realizes that neither has moved beyond their past. Kendall is struggling to find her place as the only female driver on their team while Evan is struggling to determine the reason behind his slump on the track. Their incandescent relationship has many obsta

The Chase is the second book I have read in this series and I liked it so much better than the previous book, Hot Finish. The Chase is full of humor, a very charming, sexy hero and a heroine who really appealed to me. Kendall and Evan have quite a history. They fell in love as young adults, only to break up and not speak for years. Now ten years later, their friends are tired of them carrying baggage around with them. So they are forced to talk about why they broke up all those years ago and the

I liked this book, didn't love it, def my least favorite of the series so far. I liked Evan a lot better in this book, we got to see another softer side of him. Kendall was very immature and could have dealt with things a lot better. The reason the two of them didn't speak for 10 years was totally ridiculous! I felt like the "surprise" in the last couple of chapters was completely just thrown into the mix at the last minute.

My thoughts:
I will say the same old thing, yes this is a series, but it works fine as a stand alone novel. I jumped straight in, knowing nothing, but it did not matter since this in the end was all about Evan and Kendall.
Kendall grew up wanting to race cars, and that she sure did. It has taken years, and hard work, but finally she is proving to everyone that she can drive as good as any man can. She is strong, but she also hides her emotions too much and plays it co More...

This is Evan's story and it is awesome. Evan is awesome, he is sweet, he is impulsive and in a word amazing. Kendall is the first female stock driver and that makes her an anomaly and also confused. She doesn't really fit in among the men and also in her family. 10 years ago Evan and Kendall were dating, when it ended for a really stupid reason, trust me when you find out you will go wth?So, they clear the air because of Kendall's best-friend Tuesday and get hot and heavy(really hot scenes) and

I have a confession to make. Despite having no interest in sports except for the occasional tennis match, and no interest in cars except their ability to get me from Point A to Point B, I started watching NASCAR this year. This is entirely the fault of Erin McCarthy and her Fast Track Series about NASCAR drivers.
