"4.5 stars" The Dark-Hunter series has had some ups and downs for me, but I have to say that I'm glad that I have continued with it or I would have missed out on some wonderful stories. When Sherrilyn Kenyon is “up”, she can write a very good story, and Night Play was definitely an “up” book for me. It had the swoon-worthy romance that I've loved in some of Ms. Kenyon's other books, lots of fun and interesting characters, and a good plot. Night Play picks up the narrat More...

What makes Night Play a cut above the rest in the Dark Hunter seris, is the fact that it's totally character driven. (For me, it's always about the character.) I adored the heroine, Bride. She's a real woman and her feelings are so well expressed (by showing not telling,) SK hits dead on with this one.

The book starts out with Bride being dumped by her selfish boyfriend of 5 yrs. Not five minutes after she received her dumping papers, via HER OWN fedex account no less- we meet the hero More...

Night Play was a wonderful read for me, its my #1 favorite book so far in this series. I know I have many more to read, so I will definitely have more that I will love just the same, but for now this book is on my top favorites.

Vane & Brides story was utterly amazing! I thought they were a,one of a kind couple.Were-Wolf and a Human, its obvious right from the start neither one of them are perfect, yet they manage to stick together through the evil and goodness in their relationship an More...

While I know it's illogical to say that every Dark-Hunter novel is my most favorite in the series, it's actually truth. I really do favor the Dark-Hunter book I most recently have read, and as such I can easily say that Night Play is one of my favorite books.

Aside from the fact that with this book Sherri introduces the idea of a seriously sexy Were-Hunter, Vane, falling in love with an Irish plus-sized store owner, Bride. The chemistry and overall emotional play between the characte More...

Vane is a Katagaria Were-hunter. He was born a wolf, and lived his life as one until puberty hit and he was suddenly transformed in to a man. Bride McTierny is a woman who has just been dumped by her boyfriend of 5 years. She is self conscious about her looks because she is heavier than the average woman.

Vane had seen Bride a few weeks back, when she stopped by Sunshine Runningwolf's art stand in New Orleans. He was totally taken by her. Sunshine had told him she would introduce t More...

*Warning: possible spoilers ahead.*

Tastes change a lot as a woman ages. When we're young and reckless, lots of us look at just the outer package. We want the flash. We want sexy and successful. A lot of young women will ignore a lot of very bad habits in men if they're good looking enough, drive a great car (or in my case, motorcycle), or have enough money. Then we grow up, which a lot of us feel is a very good thing. But what isn't good is the impetus for More...

Definitely one of my favourite Dark-Hunter novels in the series. Bride’s ex-boyfriend is a total jack-ass, the way he treated her and the way her broke-up with her, writing that she didn’t meet up with his image standards. Vane is hotter than the sun and a wolf-shifter (Were-Hunter) to boot, he is so sweet to want to cheer Bride up when he sees her crying. A spare of the moment romp in the backroom of Bride’s shop leads to Vane developing a mating mark on his hand and Bride her own, which means More...

To be honest, I did not realize that this novel was a part of a series written by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I had only grasped the fact after I finished and my kindle automatically pulled up the recommendations page of Kenyon’s other novels to be checked out.
As a Were-Hunter, Vane Kattalakis was placed under a curse at birth which spliced his essence. When his 27th birthday came, he was horrified with his transformation of becoming a human. There are two different species as an outcome of attempti More...

The Kategari are a race of creatures born as an animal but able to shift into a man. The Arcadians are a race of creatures born as a man but able to shift into an animal. Both races are gifted with incredible magic powers and both races loathe the other and have been fighting a long genocidal war with the other without rules or mercy since ancient Greece.

Verne’s mother was an Arcadian and his father a Katagari. Both loathe him and want him dead, along with his siblings and after the de More...

Bride McTierney, beautiful both inside and out, is dumped by her long-time boyfriend after using up her connections to get ahead because she is plus-sized and cannot seem to lose the weight. But Were-hunter Vane Kattalakis, half human and half wolf, has found his true mate and everything about her is just perfect. Vane has his own problems as the offspring of a cataclysmic union between a Katagari (animal-dominant) father and an Arcadian (human-dominant) mother. The two sides were cursed by The More...

Every book in this series makes me fall in love all over again with the world of the Dark Hunters. I'm happy to finally see some werewolf action here. Before all these books were focused on the vampire-like Dark Hunters, and little face time was given to the shape changers. Here it's different.

We are introduced to a Katagarian wolf who finds his destined mate and tries to get her to fall in love with him before the predestined time has passed, dooming him to a life of celibacy and lone More...

So now the author is staring to delve into another part of this mystical world and broaden the previous intro of Vane and Fang (were-hunters). I think that Vane is one of my most favorite characters after Acheron. I really enjoyed this book a lot! You also get to know the Dark Hunter Valerius a bit more. You see a softer sadder side to him that wasn't there in the previous book that he was briefly in.

Sherrilyn Kenyon is VERY good at introducing characters early on and having yo More...

Finally! I liked this one even a little more than the first one.

Not surprisingly, the main character is a Were-Hunter and not a Dark-Hunter. lol. So this time it is wolves instead of vampires. They reminded me a little of my own 'wolves', so I was instantly more drawn to these characters. Not to mention a plus-sized heroine isn't anything to sneeze at as far as the 'relating to it' goes. ;)

I truly wish this website gave half stars, because I would have given this book 4 1/2 stars. This book is the reason I keep reading Sherrilyn Kenyon, even if the basic plot is the same over and over again.

It is very rare that I give out 5 stars to ANY book. But this one, the story of Vane and Bride (terrible naming aside...), really hit home for me in the main female character. Plus, it didn't hurt that I have a natural affinity for wolves.

Night Play really delves into yet another aspect of the Dark-Hunter world: the Were-Hunters. The reader gets to see into the world that has only, before now, been hinted at. While Vane may be extremely over-powered for a 'weak' character (Because, rea More...

I was reluctant to read a Were-Hunter novel, though it's part of the Dark-Hunter series because I was always more of a Team Edward girl than a Team Jacob sort. Wolves are kind of - I don't know - cheesy? But let me tell you, Vane was in no way what I dislike about the realm of werewolves. Though some may think it's contrived, I totally dug the fact that he found Bride to be insanely attractive, even though she's a little bit, uh, plus-sized. So Sherrilyn Kenyon readers can take a break from Dark-Hunters because this one's about a Were-hunter and more, but that doesn't mean they're not present here. Kyrian and Amanda are here together with the ever-present Acheron and his cute demon Simi, who I'm getting fond of more and more.

This is the 8th book in the Dark-Hunter series, but the first to really delve into the world of the Were-Hunters. I have to admit that at first I was not impressed by the Were-Hunter focus but in the end I really enjoyed it. This is the first Were-Hunter entry to Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series, and I truly enjoyed it. First, hats off to Kenyon for having a plus-sized heroine. I've never encountered one before in romance (paranormal or otherwise), and it was nice to see a heroine who isn't built like a supermodel.
