When I first met Wren earlier in the series, I had no idea that I'd fall in love with him so completely as I did. I can't even explain what a wonderful, caring man he is and my heart aches for him and his awful past. I loved how he was with Maggie (he did some quite adorable things for her!) and she was truly perfect for him. Even I was quite mad at the Fates for a time there...

Unleash the Night is definitely one of the sweetest stories in the series and definitely a new favorite! I already want...more

Wren. Oh Wren. The abandoned, misunderstood, but oh-so-hot Tigard (that would be a cross between a Tiger and a Leopard). Actually he’s a were-Tigard which makes him part human as well. Whatever… he’s achingly gorgeous, and a bit of a loose cannon but at the same time is absolutely swoony with a very gentle soul. Keeping to himself since the death of his parents, he has essentially removed himself from the world, and has an innocence about him that is just irresistible!

Unleash The Night features Wren's story- a character we met briefly before in another of her novels but I can't think which. Wren, a forbidden mix of white tiger and snow leopard in Kenyon's Were-Hunter world, is silent and brooding and perfectly yummy. I fell for him instantly and, combined with the heroine, Marguerite, the book is a sure keeper.

I had a bit of a hard time finishing book 8 but those problems were gone as soon as I started this one. I don't know if it's the animals part or just the story but I loved every second of this book.
We have our new pair and it's amazing to follow their story. What I loved most was the time traveling and the complicated story this actually was. There were so many surprises along the way that it was hard to follow at times but I loved it. Let's talk a bit for them..
Wren Tigarian, by all means should have been a spoiled little brat that lived off of daddy's money and had it easy with everything, but it wasn't. He actually had a hell of a life, alone and closed of, living in the Sanctuary in New Orleans where everyone was afraid of him because of what he was. Because of him being a hybrid, his parents and especially his mother, didn't like him and after they died he was all alone. And the thing is he was used to it so it and even though it bothered him, he never did anything to change things.. Everyone around him was just too scared or uncomfortable in his presence and no one actually caught his attention enough for him to want to try.
That was until Marguerite D'Aubert Goudeau came into Sanctuary one night in honor of Nick Goutier. Everything changed then and that's when things started to get interesting.
Wren was drawn to the human woman like bees to honey and no matter how hard he tried he just couldn't get her out of his mind. She obsessed his every though and stirred all kinds of feeling in him.
It was quite entertaining to watch him struggling with his feelings up until they gave his enemies a reason to attack him and Maggie. That's when all hell broke loose around him and as far as he was concerned, he would kill anyone who tried to hurt his Maggie.
Marguerite on the other hand had good life with her family until her mom killed herself. Ever since that happened she's been unhappy because her father, a US senator, controlled her life and even though she had everything she needed she didn't have her freedom and she felt like she's suffocating. She was afraid to do anything against her father up until she met the busboy at Sanctuary. Obviously poor and definitely not someone her father would approve of, Wren was her dirty little secret and she fell for him hard.
Facing his enemies after they went after him, Maggie managed to deal with everything that happened quite well. She embraced her new life like she was meant to live it and I really liked her because of it. She is a strong character ready to fight for her happiness and she did.
The story was really good. It was fast-paced and it had quite a few twists and turns along the way but everything worked out for the best. It was entertaining and I loved the animalistic part of the book. I have a thing for the were-hunters and I loved this book a little more than the rest just because of them. (less)

Casal altamente improvável apaixona-se... Lutam contra os sentimentos que se apoderam deles... Tentam separar-se mas não conseguem.. O mundo rebela-se contra eles... E por fim o casal sai vencedor e imortais ou perto disso.
Embora a estória não traga nada que Sherrilyn Kenyon ainda nos tenha dado a conhecer, não deixa de cativar os leitores pela sua fluidez, acessibilidade e ternura.
As personagens, na maioria já nossas conhecidas, são envolventes e interessantes, mas tenho a apontar que a autora me desiludiu com Nicolette, a "maman". A mãe-ursa foi sempre descrita como uma benfeitora compassiva, ao passo que neste volume, mostrou-se injusta e benfeitora apenas por obrigação.
Wren e Maggie são um casal terno e apaixonado, tal como apaixonante, prendendo o leitor desde a primeira página!

And then there’s Marguerite. Or Maggie as she wish people would call her if they didn’t all find that too common. The daughter of a senator, she has the blueist of blue blood and a strict upbringing ordering her never ever to embarrass her senatorial father. She has friends she doesn’t especially care for, she dresses as she’s told, she attends the university she’s told, studies what she’s told, dates who she’s told always backed by her father’s shaming and bullying should she ever deviate from his path.

When they meet, it’s somewhat explosive. And their relationship only gets more rocky when to save Wren’s life from his family’s plotting, they’re forced to travel through time to solve a decades old murder mystery, all with shapeshifting assassins dogging their heels.

I have the same standard complaint I have with every Sherrilyn Kenyon book, and yes, your mileage may certainly vary. However, two complete strangers in a crowded bar see each other and suddenly she has never seen anyone so hot and luscious and sexy and amazing, while he, taciturn to the point of being mute, has never before seen a woman who touches his heart/soul/throbbing penis like this and, yes cupid has his bow at the ready for twu luv has arrived (he’s upgrading to a machine gun).

What bothers me about this is there’s never a reason why they fall in love. Indeed, I’m not even sure if they fall in love with each other because they know nothing about each other except their physical appearance and (shortly thereafter) their prowess in bed. Before we know it they’re pledging eternal devotion, risking their lives for each other etc etc and they may as well be doing it for a stranger. Well, a sexy stranger who’s really good in bed.

I really, really enjoyed this novel. Perhaps it is because I like the Were-Hunters so much, but it is what it is.

Wren. I wasn't sure about him throughout the other novels, but I really enjoyed how Sherrilyn Kenyon got us inside this character. Some of her heroes tend to run together, but the Were-Hunters always tend to stand out. And this was no exception. My daughter brought this book out to me and told me I had to read it. It looked interesting and somehow familiar so I picked it up and started reading on Friday. I finished on Sunday. About a quarter of the way through I realized I'd already read it once before, but I couldn't stop. It was soooo goood!!!!!
I put Kenyon away for awhile. Don't ask me why. I don't know what madness possessed me. She is the Queen of adult paranormal romance. I of course now have to continue reading the ones I missed....more

She KEPT going back to thank him AGAIN and getting him into trouble, and yes, while I understand that the story couldn't progress if one of them didn't put them both in the same place at the same time, it was just a characters nuisance I wanted to punch her for. She got herself to a point where I no longer wanted to punch her, and when Wren came to her in his hour of need, I liked her reaction. I liked that she took care of him. So there was something to this girl our boy Nick saw Once Upon a Time. (Oh, Nick. Baby, I miss you.)

So then you add in the plot and you sort of lose me. I hated that the Were-Bears of Sanctuary started to annoy me. Mama Bear was a b*tch and then all of a sudden she wasn't again. Come on, I remember how on the ball she was in Vane's book, but here she was all shades of evil and mistrusting. I get the animal side, but she didn't seem so easy to manipulate in earlier books. And the way they turned on Aimee? Come on, guys. BE a tribe. Or herd. Whatever bears are. I did however enjoy seeing the other Weres. Good to see Vane doing his thing with Magick. Putting his neck out for good, innocent people. Fury was on the scene, and the two of them at the meeting as Katigara (however you spell it) and Arcadian leaders but also brothers? Love those two. Fang is also finally coming around, which entices for his story with his Bear. With Maggie being a student we get to reminisce about Nick and see Julian the former-sex-slave-turned-baby-making-professor. And Selena's lawyer husband Bill turns out to be a badass. Who knew? And SAVITAR! Here is someone who we met in the last book who is on the level of Acheron for WTF is this guy, and I LOVE that. A surfer? A surfer taking care of my Nick? Yes. Oh, good gods yes.

So there. I liked Wren. I loved the secondary stuff with the Were Council and Savitar. I learned to like Maggie. There little Back to The Future twists was...something? Yeah, sure. This was another one that turned too perfect for me. Oh, the pained, quiet guy in the corner is actually loaded? Boring. (less)

Again I wasn’t overly excited to read a book not centered around a Dark Hunter, however, I was glad to be back in NOLA and with some common characters. I didn’t hate the idea behind this one and I liked Wren and Maggie, however, I felt like the solution was a tad confusing (to the point where the characters even talk about it being over their heads).

After having read some of Kenyon's other books, I now know that her stuff can range from "really good" to "ugh, why bother". I was kind of a little afraid to pick up another one of her books after the last one of hers that I'd read (the one about the whiny reporter), but I did anyway because I'd liked her earlier stuff so much. I really liked Wren's story even if the time travel bit was sort of confusing later on. Kenyon sure knows how to write a tortured soul! But her heroine in this one really grows & stands up as a daddy's girl & I like it. We also learn more about the Were-Hunter culture in this one as well as a peek at Savitar whom we first met in Alexion & Danger's story. It was well written with a good balance between plot & action, definitely more than a filler book, I really liked it.

Esta historia torna-se um pouco revoltante por causa de certos comportamentos de Maman Lo, em certas partes apetecia dar um estalo na ursa, mas no final o seu comportamente é de certa forma justificado, por isso penso que posso dizer que por mim está perdoada. O nosso Eu adulto é muitas vezes a consequência de certas coisas pelas quais passamos e acho que é essa a lição que devemos tirar deste livro. Penso que em todos os livros há uma lição de vida…

Another great book to the series! I just loved Wren! He made me so sad though. I cared so much for his character and felt bad about the things he went through and how he just isolated himself from others. Then Maggie comes along and changes everything for him.

A socialite who's mother committed suicide, her father is into politics, she's going to law school and hanging out with a crowd like her but isn't like her.
What do Wren and Maggie have in common?? Nick...Remember him? Maggie and her "friends" think he is either dead or is on the run. She thinks he's dead because of what happened to his mother, her friends have different opinions. However, they all agree on going to this bar that Nick use to talk about and where his mother use to work. They'll have a drink in his honor. Even though they go some of her friends put up a big stink because they can't believe they'll be going to such a dive and her other friends think they're going in a way to rebel against their parents. Maggie is going because she really wants to honor her friend. When they get there it just so happens Wren works there! Wren sees her and is drawn to her as Maggie is to him. She recognizes him from chitchatting with Nick. Nick thought of Wren as a friend. Maggie's friends are not so nice to the Wren and it gets them kicked out. Maggie lets her friends leave and she apologizes to Wren. She leaves but not before trouble comes her way. Wren senses this trouble and goes to help her. After that night Wren knows he can't see Maggie again. He thinks he's dangerous and could hurt her...but it seems like they are always something to bring them back together. They can't stay away from each other. As they start seeing more and more of one another it looks like Wren is going to have to face some serious threats...on his life and they'll use Maggie to get him...
What I liked about this book is we got to see Vane and his brothers and that Wren is not alone in the battle ahead of him. He's always thought people didn't care and well some do and are willing to put their neck's on the line. The ending was really great between Maggie and Wren with the whole fate thing. Even better we get to see who gave this gift and it was nice to see a glimpse of this character who has been missing. At least I've been missing him! I just thought how cool this common character was able to bring them together in a weird way and then gives them that gift! Just loved it!(less)

This is another of my favorites of the D-H series. Wren and Maggie fits together. She feeling inferior because of her mothers sucide and how her father is toward her and Wren because he felt rejected by his parents--his mother wanted him dead, his father saw him as a freak.
Their journey together is more than a love story it is a journey of development of their character, the realization of their worth and acceptance of who they are inside, not what others want on the outside.

As opposed to the high ratings given by other users, I had to give this a low one. The only things I enjoyed about this story are: 1) Wren is a hybrid, he could be a tiger or a snow leopard. I love tigers; 2) Time traveling 3) Savitar, and a little something about Nick (I miss him a lot and I hope he appears more on the next books)

Another good book in the series. It was wonderful.
I liked the plot and the characters and it was very nice to read. It was fast paced and action packed, with the signature sensual romance I’ve come to expect from the Dark Hunter series.

Maggie was a nice enough main female lead, although nothing overly new. She was kind and sweet and she grew throughout the book as the story progressed. I liked that she wasn’t an up-tight senators daughter and that her wealth and class didn’t press upon her.
I really felt for Wren. He’d led such a sad life and I really thought that under everything he was a sweetie. He didn’t deserve to be treated the way he was by people and I was really glad that he found someone like Maggie who loved him and who he could spend this life with.
It was great to see Vane again. He’s one of my all time fave characters in this series. And he and Bride have a son....so cute.
One of the things that shocked me in this book was learning the truth of Sanctuary and the bears. I always thought that they were one big happy family and that they did actually care about the other people at Sanctuary, but they really don’t. I can understand it’s the animal way, and that it’s the survival of the fittest, but I am disappointed they’re not quite who I thought they were.
The only one who seems really human in amongst that group is Aimee and I feel sorry for her and Fang not being able to be together. Even though he’s a wolf and she’s a bear, I want them to be together, I really do.

One of the bits that I enjoyed most in this book was towards the ending when Maggie’s dad first met Wren and she told him about Wren. After the way he father had acted, if it had been me I would have blurted out the truth about who Wren was straight away just to throw it in his face. The way she did it was so much better! I loved how she told her dad that she loved Wren and was going to ‘be with her busboy’ regardless of what he thought and THEN she told him who Wren was in a non bothered way.....all his money and everything. BEST in-your-face moment ever!!! I laughed and smiled so hard.
I really enjoy this series and I look forward to reading the rest of the series
