Few things in this world are as consistent as a Janet Evanovich novel featuring Stephanie Plum. You know that the following will happen at some point in the story: you will laugh out loud at least three times (often more), Stephanie will have hot sex with Joe Morelli, Stephanie will think about the possibility of hot sex with Ranger, Stephanie and Lulu will find themselves in some embarrassing situations while trying to apprehend a bail skip (this 13th installment involves exploding taxidermy ...more

Stephanie’s ex, attorney Dickie Orr, goes missing shortly after Stephanie threatens his life. The only clue to what happened: bloody drag marks leading out of his house. The investigating detective wants to question Stephanie and she has no alibi so is in no hurry to talk. To make matters worse, Stephanie’s archnemesis, Joyce Barnhardt (the woman responsible for Stephanie’s and Dickie’s divorce), is hot on Stephanie’s trail. Joyce is back in a relationship with Dickie and wants the 40 ...more

This is the current latest book in Janet Evanovich's series about bounty hunter Stephanie Plum. I still really wish she'd pick a man although it seems like she's leaning towards Morelli (thank goodness), but that could switch in the next book.
Although this has some crack up outloud scenes and one liners in it...it is basically the same as all her other books. Slightly different people who Stephanie is chasing and who are trying to kill her w/ Morelli and Ranger trying to keep her alive. ...more

New secrets, old flames, and hidden agendas are about to send bounty hunter Stephanie Plum on her most outrageous adventure yet!
MISTAKE #1
Dickie Orr. Stephanie was married to him for about fifteen minutes before she caught him cheating on her with her arch-nemesis Joyce Barnhardt. Another fifteen minutes after that Stephanie filed for divorce, hoping to never see either one of them again.
MISTAKE #2

I guess it was short enough, so I didn't waste much of my life reading it. I'm one of those people who enjoyed the first few Stephanie Plum novels, and now keep reading them in the hopes that she'll recapture some of what made the first books in the series fun, funny and suspenseful. I did not find any of those elements in #13. I remember laughing out loud in the first 4 books. I miss those days. The characters in Lean Mean Thirteen are stagnant, none of the relationships change or grow in...more

Only those who cannot pass up another Plum
What I learned from this book is that if you have a million dollar book contract, you can pretty much just list junk food, articles of clothing, and expensive cars and call it a book. I don't ask for a great plot from a Stephanie Plum adventure or I never would have got past the 5th book in the series. I read these books because Stephanie is funny and eats the way most people over 14 can only dream of eating. Some of the previous books have been thinner and less satisfying than others, but t...more

LOL, another excellent Stephanie Plum novel!
Oh, how I adore this series! Lots of laughs, Stephanie still gets herself into trouble in some way. Lots of colourful characters, old and new alike, and Grandma Mazur still knows how to make the reader laugh. Trying to figure out how Steph gets herself into these situations is still a great wonder, even though the reader gets it from A to Z.
Ranger still turns her to mush as much as Morelli, and Morelli still has it in his head that Stephanie sh...more

I started reading this book with no expectations, little idea what the book was even about, I just knew that my friend was telling me that I should take it home, read it and pass it on.
The book starts off quickly enough. It doesn't start by explaining who everyone is for the first chapter and a half, but having never read a Stephanie Plum novel before, I didn't feel lost either. I appreciated that the book jumps you right into the story. And the story had you laughing out loud at some of th...more

I cannot help but be amused by Stephanie's constant
(mis)adventures and the lovable but quirky cast of characters in the Plum books. Don't we all wish Grandma Mazur was our very own gun toting, funeral home visiting relative? This is the book were we finally learn Ranger's real name! Up until now Ranger has been just one of two men in Stephanie's love triangle--Darkly handsome, dangerous, a man of mystery but with little dialogue or substance. In this book we get some good dialogue from Ranger...more

Stephanie Plum Fans
I have been a fan of the Stephanie Plum series since its inception with 'One for the Money' in 1994. My collection has been passed around among family and friends and each new addition to the series is eagerly awaited. Each time I open a book in this series, it is like having a coffee with an old friend. Having said that, sometimes you outgrow your friends. And, as much as I really enjoy these books, the series is getting a bit tired. They don't pack the same punch as they did in vol 1-5, and ma...more

There's nothing quite like a Plum to bring the chuckles. From Grandma Mazur's bizarre love life and fashion sense to Stephanie's pitiable luck with cars, I spent much of this book snickering.
The usual goods were good: Ranger was hawt; Morelli similarly, but in a man-with-filthy-socks kind of way. Personally, Ranger's patience is getting a little too long for believability. I think a guy like Ranger would have moved on by now when it's patently obvious that Stephanie ain't much of a prospect...more

The Stephanie Plum series is my favorite guilty pleasure reading, I am not ashamed to admit. I have an insider tip that this one came together at the last minute, so it's very good considering that. Parts of it could use more description, other parts could use less, but there's a lot less needless exposition in this one and it's still a good time. The only disappointment is that it's a little stagnant in the ongoing story arc department; I realize that making Stephanie choose once and for all be...more

The Stephanie Plum series is a total guilty pleasure. The plots can be kind of formulaic, and the writing quality isn't that great, but they're funny and go fast, and they usually have a can't-put-it-down quality.
Even though this one only took me about a day to read, I didn't have any trouble putting it down, at all. The main thing that kept me reading was that I wanted to finish it so that I could start a more compact paperback to stick in my bag.

I’ve missed Stephanie Plum. It was good to go back to her.
Everyone in Trenton knows how ugly Stephanie “Bounty Hunter Extraordinaire” Plum’s marriage ended. She caught the sunavabitch naked on the dining room table with her archnemesis. You would think that the decade (more or less) since that episode would lessen the animosity between the exes. It hasn’t. And a day after Steph jumped at Dickie’s throat and threatened to kill him in front of a whole office worth of people, he go...more

13 Stephanie Plum books! It boggles the mind. And it's beginning to be the sign that summer is here. My old friend CK from www.readerville.com turned me onto the Plum saga when she asked me if I was a babe or a cupcake. I did not know the answer to this question so I started One for the Money. The two men in Stephanie's life, Super Bounty Hunter "May Actually Be Batman" Ranger and Trenton Cop Joe "Reformed Bad Boy" More...more

As others have noted, this is a "guilty pleasure" book, but it was not as pleasurable as some of the previous ones. Stephanie's continued screw-ups collecting FTAs are no longer as amusing, and her need to be rescued/protected by either Morelli or Ranger at every turn is just plain annoying. Can't she rescue herself (or anyone else) just once without one of the guys stepping in? O.K., she did staple a guy in the groin, but had to be rescued in almost every other scene. Or maybe she cou...more

I love, love, love anything by Janet Evanovich! Ever since I accidentally found this series, I've been in love with Stephanie Plum and her wild adventures in Trenton, New Jersey! When I realized it was a series, I started at #1 and went up to #8. Then when #9 came out, I started over at #1, just to refresh myself, and went up to #9. Then I can't remember what was the occasion that I started them again a third time, but now you see that I love, love, love these books! Stephanie Plum is fun, ...more
