I promised myself not to write a review, but GR is so tempting. I'm currently sitting, waiting, waiting for the right time to stand. Dreadful. Simply dreadful. While I can admit to taking pleasure from some of Sheldon's frothy soap style novels, this one takes the genre to new lows.
It's the usual beautiful woman who claws her way to the top amongst intrigue and sexual discrimination. There's the love interest, also heavily endowed with wealth and talent (of course...)and the disasters and calamities that befall them as they try valiantly to stay together.
It's paint by numbers, at best...

The Story of this book is really inspired me... It's all about my dreams... I wanna be like Lara Cameron... I wanna build so many buildings with name, so everybody can see what the hell I've created for this sucking world... 3 words that i always remember that written on that book are LOCATION, LOCATION, and LOCATION... that's the point! it's the best damn book that i ever have a read!

This wasn't what I expected from Sidney. Yes, it did have the usual but what made it worse, I think, mystery element. I absolutely hated it. Not that I hated the story. This was a quick read. It's a story of a real estate tycoon a la Donald Trump. The story begins with Lara Cameron rushing home to her birthday party and no one is there. From there it goes back to her life as a little girl and follows her life. I wanted to keep reading because I wanted to know how she came to that end - no one at her birthday party. I also appreciate that the author gave backgrounds on several of the other main characters which gave them more meaning in the story.

I read this book when I was just about to start my own career and in many ways I could relate to Lara. The problems she faced especially by the men around her were somewhat similar to mine. This character gave me a lot of motivation even though it was just a fictional character. I love Lara's determination and stubbornness. Personally for me, this book is a keeper. I have read it several times and enjoy it every time.

Surprise element , is she falls in love with a piaonist and you get to know a little about the life of a musician as well. Interesting read.

As a public librarian, I have to pick up a romance novel every once and a while just to have something to recommend to the romance reader. (Although my experience has been they have already read anything that I could recommend.) Most this genre is vapid soap opera fodder, but Sheldon writes an engaging story and makes you care about the characters, areas where many writers fall short.

This is the most boring Sidney Sheldon's book I have ever read. It is so awful that a master storyteller can write such a boring book. This book is too slow paced, has less thrills and turns, no twists, no shocking suspense. I don't understand what has happened to Sidney. I'll recommend to all my friends to not to read this book. It's AWFULLY BORING!!!!!!!

wow its a very interesting book that mentions a bunch of whorehouses, hookers, murder, MYSTERY, and good stuff. this book was awesome and cant be put down. i made a bet with my grandma and mom $5 that i could read this book in 1 day... hahahaha the good feeling of 10 bucks in my pocket....hehehe....

This book is very well written and if you are dreaming to be a real estate developer this book is nice to read you will learn a lot from it the OPM and the three words you need to know about real estate which is location, location, location.

Quick, easy, enjoyable read!! I hate to admit but I read this book in 3 nights. I loved reading about the rags to riches story of a career woman... This story would entertain and motivate anyone. Just a soapnet-type book.
